Altar Placing

Was unable to find a suitable place to put the altar and the ancestor tablets (mother and hubby).

1. Was told that the altar cannot be placed in front of kitchen, is it true? Where is the best place to put the altar?

2. Can I convert the kitchen toilet into a store room, will make a cabinet to boxed up the toilet bowl and sink. Can?
