Brand 1: Auto-Seal

External door GAP seal

In my opinion, this is a pretty good "mechanical" door seal.

What happens is that each time the main door is at the close position; there is a mechanical seal that drops down to the floor: so that there is no longer a GAP to allow for brochures or even liquid to spill into the unit.

Look down on the floor. There is an aluminium strip at the bottom of this condo unit floor.

The product name is called "auto seal"

1. I first saw this at Canberra One. As this development launched a Group buy.

2. Today, at The Topiary, all the neighbours on this level also install it.

3. There is now a brown coloured version.

4. What happens is when the door closes; the side of the module has a protruding pin that presses the seal down once the main door is fully closed.

5. Thus it is a manual but ingenious invention... But the seller does not seem to want us to see it.

6. Therefore, if we watch the videos we will be clueless or rather intrigued by this. Maybe they want the potential buyer to be amazed by this.

1. How it works... https://www.smart-home.com.sg/auto-seal

2. In my opinion, I have never seen the seller explain the mechanical part of this product.

3. Let me do so: When the door closes this black protruding plastic rod (circled in red) compress and internal mechanical mechanism  pushes the concealed rubberised floor seal towards the floor! That simple..

4. Frankly, it is low-tech.. but dummy proof-:) What can go wrong with a push-pin?

5. As once the door is closed; the seal retracts into it’s housing... and the floor seal mechanism falls to the floor forming a seal of the door with the flooring.

6. This is actually from one of my homes!

NO MAGIC

Uses a mechanical "Push-Pin" to activate the seal
once door is fully closed

1. I always love to take things apart and understand how it works.

2. This is the hidden panel and mechanical retractable black pin:

3. This is at the other side.. (at the door handle and lock set side).

3.1 This whole external piece can slide out. The plastic cap on each side is to prevent dust getting into the module.

3.2 As well as make it aesthetically pleasing:-

4. This rubber looking or silicone flexible type of seal pushes to the floor forming a seal when the door is fully closed:

5. After 4 years of installation, looks like the seal is still intact although slightly compressed to one side. But nevertheless, still works fine.

6. Close-up of the rectangular seal....

7. I hope you find this resource useful even if you will not be installing this type of module.

P.S. Please note that I do not have any vested interest in this or with the seller.
