Broken tiles flooring. In the past, some interior of homes does use broken marble flooring. Are these bad Feng Shui.

1. Broken tiles flooring. Broken ceramic tiles are totally unheard of in the interior of a home: living/dining/bedrooms.

2. However especially in the 1980's, quite often some local homes does use broken marbles sealed with epoxy. Often these tiles are white / cream or a slight tinge of pink in them.

3. Feng Shui does not micro manage this. However, another field known as Symbolism is another consideration.

4. As there are some people who felt that "broken" literally means having a bad feeling about it. 

5. No one would every say that rectangular laid tiles in a uniform pattern is bad. As this is the norm. If now, how to lay tiles/granite/marble.

6. However, when it comes to Herring bone laying of floor tiles, again, some also feel uncomfortable with such a design also because of the pointed patterns.

7. Again, this has more to do with Symbolism than Feng Shui.

Broken outdoor tile design.. properly spaced out tiles.

Generally does go well with the outdoors = blend in with nature and the surronding plants.

Hi Cecil! We are replacing the tiles at our backyard marked out in red. We are thinking of doing woodtiles in herringbone design. Like the pic below. Which direction should the arrow point or doesnt matter?

Since it is the yard anything goes.. so long as common sense says the points don’t face the backyard door..
