Activating the Mountain Stars

Recommended Posts

Dear Cecil, Robert and Glyn,
Thanks for all the advice. I have thought about the Flying-Star a lot in the last couple of days, and I have a few questions.
Q1: Is it okay to activate all the mountain stars found regardless of the sector (Sickness sector, Dispute sector, etc)?
Q2: Are there any adverse effects if we try to activate a mountain star that is not there?
Q3: Correct me if I were wrong. The way to activate the Mountain Star is to create a symbolic "mountain" in the sector.
a. Should it be at high place?
b. Besides putting a massive object (e.g. a paper-weight) on a shelf, could I hang a massive object on the wall instead?
c. Does it matter if it isn't near a window?
Q4: I have some glow-in-the-dark decorative stars. I thought of sticking them up on my ceiling / walls for decoration purpose, so that I could enjoy the "starry night" scene when I go to sleep. But then I hesitated as I wonder whether there is any Feng Shui significance in doing so, e.g. symbolizes always sleeping under the sky, like homeless people :) ??!! All comments welcome :)
Q5: In my work-place, each of us has an open-cubicle. When we are sitting, we will have our backs facing each other, and people could walk around in the space between our backs. Somehow I felt uncomfortable about this, as if I didn't have any solid-support at my back. I then used some files and boxes to build up a "wall" at my back. Is that right?
Q6: What are the effective ways to deal with overhead beam? (At times, I would have no choice but to sit under an overhead beam, and I learned this is bad.)
Hehe, I feel embarrassed sometimes for asking so many questions *blush*

Dear Rose,
Feel free to ask questions here. Glyn, Robert and many users here are happy
to learn from each other and what better way is through real-life
situations. This will also help us fine tune our courses, books and replies
to bring it to a `higher' level.
Personally, I have benefitted from the very frank questions put in by users.
By asking questions, will also act as a catalyst for us to do further
research into the subject and come up with more and more alternatives that
we feel that are workable.
As a pioneer of this Forum, I hope that it can continue with its mission of
providing very frank answers and if it is not possible, provide as many
`workable' alternatives to everyone. In short, Centre for Feng Shui Research
wants to do better and be called a Centre of Excellence for Feng Shui
Research. It is a tall order, but, I believe, this forum will remain
relevant because it is virtually 100 flame free and thanks to users e.g. Eve
and many others who help to answer questions.
If any users have a different opinion or find that something had worked for
you, we are all ears:) Learning is a two way process and no one can claim
that he/she is `smarter' than others not even so called Feng Shui Masters.
The approach in this Forum is, do not take our words but find out for
yourself the rationale why someone said it this way or that way.
You will be surprised to learn that the Great Feng Shui Masters of the past
did not learn Feng Shui passed down from Masters but BOOKs.. Yes! Books!
The common thing amongst them is that because they are well read, they are
in a better position to understand all Feng Shui Schools and pick wisely ie.
what is good and discard the rest.
Compare this to a Feng Shui Master who only knows a particular school. He /
She will certainly say that what he / she studied is the BEST!
This is why some Traditional Feng Shui Masters today are in a `fix'. They
have been telling their students to discard the Eight House Theory. Some
even modify the Eight House Theory and found that it did not work for them.
Therefore, they and their followers thus conceed that the Eight House Theory
is not workable. This is not TRUE!
In the past, such Feng Shui Masters can get away with it. But with today's
well read people who had `picked' up Feng Shui, these FS Masters have to
find another story or admit that the Eight House is still one of the most
popular methods used.
Recently, I have seen a few forum where a few people `dare' to pose such a
challenge to FS Masters that say `bad things' about the Eight House. Such
Masters who only practise one school cannot simply compete with others who
know not only their school but many other schools. I feel the days of such
FS Masters are "numbered." Many people can see for themselves and judge
what is workable and not.
Sorry for the `side track.'
The only request I ask is that you do not post a `Thank You' note although
it is polite to do so but because many users here subscribe to a mailing
list and you can understand that we want to keep to the minimum
`unnecessary' mails.
Hope you understand.
As your message is very long, I will try to answer some and get back to you
on those that I had `missed out'.

Dear Cecil, Robert and Glyn,

Where is the mountain star?
The mountain star can only be activated e.g. if there is a wall on that
sector. This wall is thus considered the mountain. If it is an open window,
I am afraid, you should not call this wall a `mountain'.
Therefore, a mountain in a house is equal to = the wall. This is the reason
why you can place a cupboard against the wall and place a soild object
there.

Q2: Are there any adverse effects if we try to activate a mountain star
that is not there?

There are two types of stars. A mountain star and a water star. When there
is a water star, this means that you should keep the place clear e.g. the
front of the house.
What about the mountain star? If there is no mountain star, even if you
place a solid object it will not work for the person.
Often many people are in serious trouble if they place lots of objects at a
particular location without knowning e.g. their main element and its
strength. This may result in an imbalance!
For example, if you are already a person of Strong Earth and yet, you place
a brick (representing the mountain star) in the Fire or Earth location, this
may inadvertenly increase your Fire or Earth element creating even larger
imbalance to the individual. This may result in health or competitive
problems.
The best advise is not to keep the location or home simple. Do not apply
excessive self cures. If not sure, consult a proper FS practioner.

Q3: Correct me if I were wrong. The way to activate the Mountain Star is

a. Should it be at high place?
b. Besides putting a massive object (e.g. a paper-weight) on a shelf,
could I hang a massive object on the wall instead?
c. Does it matter if it isn't near a window?

As mentioned earlier, you should look at the wall on that sector or imagine
it as a `mountain'. Here it is not difficult to visualise the wall `acting'
as a mountain. Ideally, you should have a display shelf or at that location
and place the solid mass at the location. Alternatively, you can buy those
screw on book shelves at any D.I.Y. stores and fix this shelf on the wall.
Some FS practioners will bring along their Feng Shui ruler and help you
determine the height of the shelf. Others simply ask you to judge for
yourself and use a `reasonable' height you feel comfortable with. Both are
acceptable.
In case you go out and buy a FS ruler, let me `warn' you that there are as
many as four or more versions of the Imperial Carpenter ruler sold in Taiwan
or Hong Kong! So, if after reading this and you find it not practical to use
the FS ruler, I agree with you. Use your intuition or six sense here:)

Frankly, such decorations are not documented in Feng Shui. If you feel
comfortable with it why not?

But the caution is that the pointed stars may become sha or poison arrow.
Please give some thought to this. Maybe a cresent shaped moon or half-moon
or quarter moon and the cow flying over it is a better alternative? Here you
can count cows or better still hang sheep?

Well, this is acceptable as you have `symbollically' created for yourself a
small hill. Frankly, in the past, Feng Shui did not go into such details or
most likely not encountered in the past. So, this is one person's opinion
against another.

Q6: What are the effective ways to deal with overhead beam? (At times, I
would have no choice but to sit under an overhead beam, and I learned this
is bad.)
Here, if your home or office permits, the well known technique is to hang
two bamboo flutes to form the top profile of a Ba Gua
e.g.

Flute 1 Flute

Here you find that the two bamboo flutes are slanted such that they form the
profile of the Ba Gua.
Hehe, I feel embarrassed sometimes for asking so many questions *blush*
As mentioned, feel free to post questions:)
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Mountain Star question continued...
1. There are two walls at right angle. One is a solid wall while the other is with a window. Would it be effective to activate the Mountain Star with the solid wall, although the window wall is nearby.
2. Does it matter what is behind the solid wall, e.g. if the toilet is behind the solid wall?

So long as the backing of the Mountain Star is a solid wall, it is ok. You cannot activate the Mountain Star if there is a windows below or very near the wall which you are trying to put the obtain with mass.

Nope. So long as there is a wall, because what that wall itself is like a mountain. Solid foundation.
