Harmonizing 8 House, Flying Star and Annual Star

Dear All,

I am starting to learn about Feng Shui and I am pretty confused trying to harmonize 8 Mansions, Flying Star and Annual Star. Based on 8 Mansions, my house sits NW (door is in the SE). Based on Flying Star, I believe my house is NW as well since we have a beautiful big lake on the back of our house (so according to my interpretation of Lillian Too's book, the back of my house becomes facing direction in Flying Star because it is the area that has the best view). This leads to my Water Star 8 and Mountain Star 6 being in the Northwest (Metal).

Based on these details, I don't know if I should place a Water feature in the NW to activate the Water Star 8 since water exhausts metal (but I read somewhere that Flying Star takes precedence over 8 Mansions). Moreover, is the huge lake a negative since it is in the West, NW and North of the Bagua (water in metal W and NW metal areas and North-water has 2 and 4 Water and Mountain stars for this period). Is this a good or bad Flying Star set up: I read that if the Water Star is in the facing direction and the Mountain Star in the Sitting Direction it is good and the opposite is true if this is reversed, but I don't know what to label as sitting and facing direction here since these swap depending on the method I apply... again based on an amateur's interpretation. To complicate this analysis even further the annual star 3 is in the NW. Bottomline is what elements should I use in the NW?

There is an additional layer also: my husband and son are both 4 (East Group) and I am a 7 (West Group). I am happily married, I have a wonderful son, but money is an issue at present.
