Some home owners do not  have any control over two main categories of external environmental factors: the landscape and to a certain extend the site especially if a person is staying in an apartment or condominium with shared compound.

Even if a person cannot  control the external environment e.g. shift their front doors or move  to a new home, you can however in some extend control the internal usage of space at home.

Let's first look at the various `Rules of Thumb' from the `Form & Shape' School of Feng Shui (the oldest form of Feng Shui); some of which  are simply commonsense.
