How do you read a feng shui ruler ? It seem that there are 2 section: up and down. And most of the time, it did not agree with one or the other; meaning that one may state is good but the other state is bad, so which one do we use to determine the correct measure ?

The top markings are for measuring the living e.g. door size, cabinets etc.. (yang). The bottom markings are for the dead (yin) e.g. measuring size of tombstones etc.
