Yu Huang Gong, Temple of Heavenly Jade Emperor (the former Keng Teck Whay Building), 150 Telok Ayer Street A milestone was marked in Singapore's heritage history on 31 March 2010; Taoist Mission (Singapore) became the new owner of the "Keng Teck Whay" a Singapore's National Heritage Monument situated at 150 Telok Ayer Street amidst the heart of the financial district. The 170 year old building is now a dilapidated state and is desperately in need of restoration and conservation. The building's architectural style and social heirtage is a living testament to the founding members' efforts and contributions during Singapore's early settlement since 1831. The attached ph…

LATITUDE @31 - 35 Jalan Mutiara, a freehold site completed in 2010. An interesting art piece: could it be that the two statues looks like an L and an inverted L? What do you think?

In my opinion; this household had placed a pair of elephants as a form of seating .. that's all. Why a pair? Everyone seems to love "pairs or couples" right?

1. Numerous blocks associated with the same neighbourhood HDB flats; at the VOID deck (ground level), every pillar appears to have a tag, such as C4033, etc.. 2. What is the reason for the excessive tagging of the pillars across several blocks of flats? 3. These flats were built between 1984 and 2003, specifically around 1997. They are relatively new and do not appear to be in disrepair. Is it necessary to monitor each pillar as if they are in critical condition? 4. Perhaps the town council requires precise identification of each pillar and its location. For instance, a maintenance team might be alerted... 4.1 Block 391A Compassvale Street, Pillar no. C4033 has st…

Photos of Sky at Eleven. Photos taken from The Arte @ Thomson. Some ponder over buying a unit at Sky @ Eleven for the sole reason that the road leading to the condo is an old folks home. Literally, I know of an overseas businessman who bought a unit there and then decided to live in another luxury condo development. As his reason is because of the old folks home.

The Dracaena Draco plant / tree. Under symbolism in Feng Shui, plants with rounded leaves are preferred over spikey leafs. Under common sense; usually nowadays, the garden is very small; and if one has young ones running around the garden, such sharp leafs may accidentally hurt a child when the child runs into it. Worse of all, hopefully it does not poke into vunerable areas like the eyes. In this photo; this plant or tree can be of low height or higher.

1. These pattern(s) of floor tiles has it's roots or origins with Islamic geometric patterns. 2. These tile patterns were popular in the early 1930's to 1950's.... 3. These two homes along Ceylon Road are using "replica" designs"... as often, due to wear and tear, misuse and renovations; many of the original tilesare long gone... 4. It is a pity that most of the homes have been stripped of their ornate wall tiles and beautiful facade! Like the home with the RED main door!

The rubbish truck would back up to the compactor and unload the rubbish .... Here.. goes...

The key to understanding what makes a good water feature is not getting an exact copy of any illustration of a water feature. But rather; to understand the Five Elements and what makes a good water feature. Where if possible, the water feature comprises all FIVE elements. Reference: http://fountain.geomancy.net

Aloe Vera originates from North Africa. And some even call it "The Mother of all Miracle Plants!" Aloe vera is very popular as it is called the Elastoplast or a First Aid buddy. Thus it is used if one has cuts or even insect bites or even as a sun-block (sun-screen). It is also popularly used in skin care, shampoos and even as a refreshing drink that holds chunks of aloe vera. In ancient times, in Egypt, it is one of the ingredients or items used for embalming! Do be careful, if you walk along Kovan Road... as the owner of the home has planted a whole garden full of Aloe Vera plants both in his garden as well as this field of five-foot-way grass verge!
