Dear Anon, Is it possible for you to sketch your layout plan using a paint program and attach as either e.g. .gif or .jpg as it is quite difficult to understand the text sketch although you had taken much time in drawing it. This was the reason, I opened your message several times, wanted to review your message but could not comprehen with the lack of a proper layout sketch. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Susan, Frankly, looking at one `idea' in Feng Shui or using it to audit a house may not provide the full picture. In your case, try to apply: 1. Shapes and Forms 2. Compass Schools: e.g. Eight House - not only the main door but bedrooms for each family members. There are more e.g. looking at one's Ba Zi to harmonise with the home e.g. for an individual such as a weak water person such as white walls. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Please see below:- Feng Shui is all about maximizing one's luck. If one use it correctly or use a combination of the various tools / principles / concepts correctly, it would help to boost luck in majority of areas. Thus, reducing the percentage of `inauspiciousness' at the main door. Although a house has to fit the owners /breadwinner/tenant, if one has already stayed in it or made a commitment in it already, there is not much one can do here but as mentioned in the earlier paragrah to try and maximize luck in other areas. In authentic Feng Shui, there are two ways about placing a water feature outside of the house:- 1.1 Under the conference: Phot…

Dear Steffi, 1. Thanks for bring this interesting question. 2. In fact, I had previously posted some information on this issue. 3. In 1986, when I first developed my Chinese Horoscope site:- http://www.lovesigns.net 4. I was trying to find an appropriate information for the first page of this site. 4.1 I found this quote:- " If we want to be loved we must disclose ourselves to the other person. If we want to love someone they must permit us to know them. " Dr. Sidney M. Jourard 4.2 When young many of us have either being told or discovered our personal English zodiac signs. E.g. Gemini, Libra, Cancer etc... And there were (are) untold number of such books describing our c…

Dear Anon, Usually, if there is a gap between the two buildings, there would be as you had mentioned there can be Sha Qi. However, as your description is not too clear, I can't really provide advise:- 1. When u mentioned your relative's house, is it a landed property? Or an apartment with window or gap in the master bedroom or main door entrance or otherwise? 2. When you mentioned a gap of 50cm of two near by buidings, currently cannot visualise what are their position in relation to your relative's home. Perhaps, you can provide a sketch to this. 3. However, if one stands at the gap and find gushes of air `forced' thru this into your relatives' home, then this can be sha…

Dear Anon, Frankly, there is not much that can be done via Kua (Eight House). For example, if a house is unsuitable, it is unsuitable for the breadwinner. The only cure(s) are usually physical. For example, either changing of rooms that suit us to even relocating the main entrance to face a favourable angle of the owner. In many of the previous postings, I mentioned that Feng Shui is all about improving one's luck. Thus, you may like to further explore your home: Learn whether your home has good or not so good Shapes and Forms. If possible, try to apply Shapes and Forms. You may also like to look at Flying Star Feng Shui. As mentioned above, taking such steps is like try…

Dear Evelyn, Thanks for your sketch. From the look of it, it seems that your main door opens directly to the balcony. Can I confirm whether is there a straight path of `air' flowing from the main door directly out to the balcony? Or do you have a screen or partition. If this is the case, it is more important to get a screen rather than to get a dragon. Even if one wants to use a dragon figurine, it should be on a wall, facing out of the house e.g. thru an opening such as a window. It must not be allowed to faced a blank wall. Yes, a dragon figurine can help improve on yang qi in the house but, caution about where to place it. It should preferably not also be placed inside…

Dear Doctor Z, It is best to give a sketch else, with a top down perspective. I really do not like to second guess or run thru line by line description. Which I feel can lead to miscommunication. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jonathan, In Feng Shui, one can either access one's unit or the entire facing of the unit's block (or frontage). Usually, for a unit such as yours, it is best to look at your main door only and not the building's main entrance. Please see below:- But, if your balcony forms part or is " within " the house, then it should be taken into the 9 grid. You can do a search for the word " condo " and there are many case studies especially under the conference: Photo Tours of Interest (with pictures). You should be able to find several resources on condos. Do use the SEARCH feature in this forum to narrow down your search field. If you have any layout plan that …

Dear Anon, 1. In the past, a butcher is a butcher, a merchant is a merchant. 2. But nowadays, due to multi-skilling, one person may perform various (varied) tasks, it may be much harder to identify the exact element of an occupation. 3. For example, a doctor can be involved in part research. This part of his work can be considered as `wood' element. 4. What can generally be classified under the Wood element? 4.1 Well, think or imagine a tree. For the most part of it's life, it is continously growing (unless of course it is diseased or eaten by termites). 4.2 Therefore, a wood element suggests anything to do with new projects, new technology or growth. Developing new med…

Dear Anon, Please see below:- Congratulations on your new home! In general, it is always prudent to look at `weaknessess' if any of a new home. Prior to making enhancements. This is usually the key success factor. Try to make sure that your main entrance door is protected. (Usually, there is no threats to the main entrance). But, there is no harm doing a `preventive audit'. Such as looking out of the main door and from all windows of the home. Check for poison arrows e.g. lamp posting slicing thru the main door or window(s) or other threats. Is there a direct path of `air flow' from the main door directly out at the opposite end? As mentioned, there is really no …

Dear Soon Hoe, 1. Yes, one MUST not rely on this report: Eight Aspirations/Life Associations. 2. When one generate the report, we have stated clearly in the report that it is simply too general to be of use to anyone. 3. Unfortunately, there are many (tons of books) written to capitalise on this general concept. 4. In many of the past messages found under this forum, I have cautioned about "sector feng shui" or paying homage to a sector. 5. The rationale is because, this concept simply states that e.g. SW = romance sector. North = career. And this is not personalised to anyone. 6. It is like telling everyone that our romance sector is at South-West. Imagine: how can this …

Dear Anon, One way of looking at landed property is to find the frontage of the house. (Or the location with most light coming in) Since this is the frontage or the `entrance' area in such a situation, a grid, with say the main door drawn at the middle can be superimposed on this layout plan. Do note that, an ordinary compass is still required to find the North/South direction so that an appropriate template can be laid on it. In Flying Star Feng Shui, if one notice it carefully, majority of the 24 directional charts or 24 mountains (directions) are almost similar for each period. Thus, IN GENERAL not a major issue whether to take the compass reading from e.g. centrepoin…

Dear Soo Juan, Yes, due to physical contraints, there is not much one can do here. The most important consideration is have a tidy kitchen. Here, remember to keep all forks, knifes and sharp objects of the kitchen. It is inauspicious if such items is placed in a situation, where when one opens the main entrance door, one sees such object(s) e.g. knives or sharp objects of the kitchen. It is preferred that the stove should not be in full view of the main door. If not, best to close the door leading to the kitchen. Here, the stove is usually a location where one suppose to keep the warmth and in such a situation, warmth is hard to retain. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Janice, 1. The idea of a mirror is not so of Feng Shui but rather a belief. 2. Here, the belief is that when one sleeps, a person's spirit (is said) to wonder out of the body. And it could `face' a shock if it sees itself in a mirror. 3. However, from poll results as found under this URL: http://sg.geomancy.net/poll/poll.pl The two interesting results for these two polls:- Do you have a TV set in the bedroom facing your bed? The results of this poll is shown below:- http://sg.geomancy.net/poll/poll.pl?id=032410115238&view=results If you do not cover the TV sets, do you have sleep problems? http://sg.geomancy.net/poll/poll.pl?id=032410115548&view=results 3. Dear Lynda, Yes, given your situation, it is best to maximize the Feng Shui of your home based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Please see below:- However, white even for furniture is considered a neutral element. And since white also represent metal, it is one of the safest colours. Under the Eight House, if the sector is better for you, then, it is best that you sleep closer to the sector while your husband, sleeps further away. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Rick, Usually, in an office environment, enhancements are made following two considerations:- 1. Self 2. The business 1. Self 1.1 For self, usually, it has to be looked into in consideration of that person's Ba Zi. 1.2 First of all determine one's favourable, unfavourable elements. 1.3 For example, if you are a weak wood person, water element is favourable. Since water helps weak wood to grow. 1.4 But if say, one is a "weak fire" person, then, adding a water feature may inadvertently extinguish your flame. - Inauspicious. More often a water feature, especially if it makes a lound sound may not be appropriate in a room. Unless, it is small and non-intrusive (distracti…

Dear Alejandra, Thank you for your question. It has to do with the concept of wealth collection. In general, an elevated land (on one side) is not as favourable as a depression. In many instances, the word elevation / or depression may be exaggerated. In many cases, they are gentle to the eye. Only on closer evaluation, does one notice the elevation or depression. A depression is preferred over an elevation. Under Shapes and Forms, a depression would suggest `wealth' retention. This is not the same as a physical building that is taller than the other. A building can be taller or lower than another building but, in such situations, there is no mention of how it sits on a l…

Dear Anon, It is best for a toilet to have some qualities of `Yang'. For example, it should be (if can be bright - especially use tiles / porcelain bowl/accessories that are not too dark colored.) Where possible, it should be dry. Thus more Yang than yin. In the toilet, there is frankly, not much one can engergise it. Under the eight aspirations or life aspirations, SW = romance. This theory is too general to be of use to most of us. Reference material for yin and yang concept: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-yinyang.htm Under Feng Shui, other than applying Yin and Yang concept, the next proper way of applying enhancements or cures is thru the Five Elements…

Dear Anon, Honestly, since this is already in the past i.e. the move-in date, in my opinion, there is not much one can undo or go back to the start. However, if you do have a religion or an altar, then, offer some prayers. If you do not have this but, can instead:- a. purchase a few lime (or last resort lemon), cut the lime into two pieces. b. Purchase also flowers e.g. rose, c.then pour tap water into a clean wash basin container (3 quarters or nearly full) d. place the cut half-lime and flowers into the bowl. e. bath first. And once completed bathing, pour the water with lime/flower onto your head. Moving your hands from the front to the top of your head. f. Afterward…

Dear Gwen Bui, Thank you for your layout plan. Please see below:- Please see attached illustration with the Shape of your house. So far, the Shape looks rectangular. The main concern is the toilet at the frontage of the house. And this is where, you should not make the garage door as your symbolic main entrance door. In my opinion, your two-sided stairway does not seem to pose any major problems since there is a lift landing upstairs. A two-sided stairway is in my opinion, very inauspicious if it is at the frontage of the house. Where, the two sets of steps join /meet together to the main entrance door. Also, from the layout plan, the front side of the stairwa…

Dear Tien Sze, 1. Before I answer your question, usually if a company hires us (geomancers) to do an audit, our first priority is to get the location for important areas e.g. reception, meeting room and CEO's office Feng Shuied to an optimium level. This usually also includes the location for Marketing/Sales and Finance/Accounting. 2. I can understand your constraint in that other than the CEO, or some Senior Managers, it is quite hard to change the direction of one's work area especially in an open office or if the building has a certain layout. 3. In quite alot of the messages posted under this forum, it is good to ponder over Three questions: 3.1. What is the aim or pu…

Dear Anon, If you are applying the Eight House than, you have to use South West (the door to get into your apartment). I like to clarify that if you are using another theory i.e Flying Star and wanting to place water features or mountain support, it is best to use the frontage of the building. A good example is that under such a situation, if say metal elements are detected at the frontage of the building, it is a good candidate for a water feature. Since you do not `own' the exterior of the building, even when you apply Flying Star Feng Shui, best to use say South West or the interior of your home. Warmest Regards, Cecil
