Dear Amy, In general: 1. Colours are important in Feng Shui. Thus, do check the type of colour(s) used. 2. White - represents metal element. And if the room is in white colour, it already has one component which is metal. 3. Colours like cream or beige or yellow belongs to the earth element. And rooms that are painted in these colours and if there are #2 (bad sickness earth) and #5 (bad earth - misfortune/sickness). If the room has been painted this colour or other colours in the room e.g. curtains used cream or yellow, then, metal should be used, here. 4. Where possible for neutralising #5 - constant metal is needed. Cures for this would range from: 4.1. 6 rod metal w…

Dear Amy, 1. Perhaps, you may like to consider the expert help option (We do it for you). 2. Each of us have our own birth-chart. And the distinction between Eight House and Flying Star Feng Shui is similar. 3. Both takes into consideration the "birth-chart" of a home. 4. As mentioned above, each of us have our birth-chart. Same goes for a home. 5. Given this understanding, we need to balance the elements in a home's "birth-chart". And the Flying Star Chart actually analyses the "birth-chart" of a home. 6. Therefore, even if one is a metal element or other element, we MUST first balance the birth-chart of our home. One way is based on the advice provided in a Flying Star …

Dear Amy, If you do not do any major renovations, your home will be considered to have a Period 6 birth-chart. Under Period 6, the number 6 is always considered an auspicious number. Even after Period 6, say even a house with double 6's (mountain and water star) is also acceptable - auspicious numbers. Given that the Number 6 is always an auspicious number, even under Period 1 to 9. But however, the number 7 is different. Under Period 7, any number = 7 is very auspicious. But after Period 7, this number turns to it's own bad number i.e. 7 = robbery or theft star. Therefore, a house with in Period 7 i.e. has a double 7's (very auspicious during Period 7) will "turn against…

Dear Xin Xin, 1. The two traditional and thus considered authentic schools of Feng Shui originated from China: Shapes and Forms and Compass School. 2. As Chinese culture and beliefs has spread to many cultures, Tibet is very close to, and now part of China. 3. The Black Hat (BTB) Sect or often called the Black Hat Tantric Sect - has a major part to play with the marketing of Tibetan stuff especially, the mystic of the Tibetan bells etc... 4. To many Tradtional Feng Shui Schools, this is not an authentic school. But many of the authentic schools have considered BTB as a marketing ploy. With its strong association of fixed template FS and various products etc.... 5. Perhap…

Dear Rachel, Frankly, there is not much material (if any) with regards to moles on the foot. The only "interesting" ones are those where the moles form a formation, similar to those of the stella constelation. But very (very) rare. And, perhaps, found only in story lines in some Chinese shows. From a commonsense approach, if your mole is flat (and not protruding), then, there is relatively no harm. But if it becomes thick and hard, then, it is best to be removed as it could affect the sole (which bears) the weight of our body. From a symbolic point of view, if one has a mole on one's feet (foot) it is symbolic of carrying a burden with us. For example, some Chinese feel …

Dear Arthur, 1. In general, a Metal Rat (born say in 1960) is already 43 years old. And a Fire Horse is often 1 year younger. 2. Many years ago, the most common thing is for us to read either Chinese astrology or Western zodiac signs. 3. Many of these readings may create "auto-suggestion". What we read, we may (concious or unconciously) act out the profile. Worse still, the idea of a "self-fulfilling prohercy" 4. Contrary to what one may thing, one has to look at the destructive cycle of the five elements:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm In fact, the destructive cycle is about wealth production. 5. For example: Wood gets nurishment from the Ea…

Dear Anon, Frankly, this may not be a good idea. Real water in the room, in my opinion, may harbour germs. Plus you had also mentioned dampness in the bedroom. Especially since, this water is not cleaned at all. In my opinion, I do not see a problem with a TV set in the bedroom: 1. Many of us read too many Feng Shui books `warning' us about having a tv set in the bedroom. The chief reason is: that the screen `acts' like a mirror. 2. But I have often mentioned that, this is not an issue for many people. 3. There are many people who have shifted home, or placed a tv set in their bedroom. And, do we ever hear of "Mr A moved to a new home. Placed a tv set in this bedroom. He …

Dear Jonathan, Under the 4 good/4 bad directions concept, there is a notion that one belongs to the `east' or `west' house. But, frankly, it does not sound logical to look at region to work in. What happens if we truly take the globe. And that a person truly belongs to the `east' house? In this situation, since US is West, what happens if (a crazy practitioner of FS) recommends instead -- forgoing the US entirely (West) and ask one to go to the East? Perhaps, Far East - - like, here in Singapore. The only advantage of using this concept is to see which direction one can work (in a given room). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Dinesh, Thank you for your photos. 1. Please see attachment 2. Given the situation, you should place a wind chime at location marked A. 3. And see if you can remove the shelving under marking B. 4. Area of wealth A scientific method is to apply Flying Star Feng Shui to activate wealth luck and relationship luck. For example, under Period 7 house, one can activate #7 water star (with water) - if the location is possible to improve on wealth. Under Period 7 also, #7 mountain star location can also be activated for relationship luck. And also try to balance all the Flying star areas. Warmest Regards, Cecil 1. Poison If a person (Owner / If Owner sit …

Dear Michael, In Mandarin; gift of a clock (phonetic - sounds like) "sending one to a funeral ". Thus, many Chinese never accept a clock as a gift. As since you are not a Chinese, the main excuse is that you do not use the Chinese mandarin language and thus, is ignorant of this. I believe, this has to do more with "culture" and "culture shock" than Feng Shui. Since, one culture's practise does not necessarily mean anything bad to another culture. Thus in the west; a clock or "sounds like" does not resemble anything inauspicious - I personally feel that it should not be a major issue for another culture. Be it a western culture. For example, in some Chinese dialect group, …

Dear Anon, This has more to do with "Man or Human" luck, than Feng Shui. Do what you personally feel nice about `decorating' the "lucky" corner. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, activating luck is based on finding the "lucky" number for the period and see if one can activate luck at that sector. For example, under Period 7, a house built under Period 7 can have it's luck activated with water at the water star location #7. While mountain star #7 can be activated for relationship luck. I believe, sellers of products claiming to be of Feng Shui will sell one anything that sounds - romantic or for wealth. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Seems like Savannah Condo Park is considered a "pet project" of CDL Properties because of it's extra emphasis of giving this condo a one-of-a-kind theme. 2. The plus point for this condo is that the highest floor is 9th (penthouse). (As compared to many others that rise higher than 20 plus floors). An advantage -here. 3. Because of the maximum 9th storey, it is acceptable for an "eye" shaped-like top-view layout plan. Since qi can still flow sufficiently all round the inner blocks. (Contrast this to the Costa Del Sol condo at East Coast. In my opinion, because of it's height - high rise - the higher the blocks, greater is the unbalanced qi for an `eye' shape…

Dear Ron, I hope I get what you had written correctly. Do you mean that when the main door is fully opened, it measures 168 degrees - the maximum opening? Frankly, there is often not an issue, with the amount of door opening so long as it can open at-least up to 80 or 90 degrees. Is your door facing an opening e.g. facing a balcony directly. Without a sketch, it is difficult to understand the interior layout. But for placing a fridge in the living room - perhaps, you should be entitled to an explanation from your practitioner since, this is something new indeed. And, other than it is tall and often (huge) in comparison to other objects, perhaps? Your practitioner wants…

Dear Anooja, Yes, if one lives on a landed property, one can take either one or a combination of the following measures: Firstly, try to imagine or view a home from a TOP-DOWN perspective (or from a "helicopter" looking downwards. 1. Landscaping If there is a missing corner and if permits, one can have a garden profile or landcaping that forms an outline of the missing corner (extends out of the missing corner) e.g. using potted plants or simply outline trees or bushes etc... 2. Placement of Light - in particular at the opposite corner of the missing corner. (Such that the lamp can be seen as "dotted" line(s). Well, these are the two most common methods. The other method …

Dear Anon, You can use the free House Number report under http://www.geomancy-online.com to find out if the number is favourable or not. This report is based on the vertical Flying Star Feng Shui analysis based on 81 combinations with the assumption that each floor has a different level of qi - flow. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Josephine, Please see below: I will be moving to a new I am concerned 1) The 1.1 Does your LEGs face the door? There is no major issue if part of the bed faces the bedroom door. But, where possible, one's legs should avoid facing the bedroom door. 1.2 As this is known as the inauspicious `coffin' position. 1.3 Frankly, the only remedies are: - a. (silly to say this: But can the bed be moved to another location? If Para 1.1 is taken into consideration) - b. close the bedroom door when sleeping - c. place a low linen cabinet at the foot of the bed. - d. (Last resort) have a `curtain' like structure e.g. beading screen at the bedroom door. 2) The Th…

Dear Anon, Ideally, the favoured change is to have a "major renovation". For example, hacking away the entire flooring or some walls and/or change of main door, or windows is a sure way of `flying' to the new period. Other short cuts but these are subject to opinions by various practitioners: 1. Have major "yang" activity in a home. Here, what it means is that humanly, we have some yang activity such as celebration of birthdays or house warming where we invite lots of friends and relatives into the home. But this alone, often may not on it's own guarantee that the house fly into the new period. 2. Activity under Para 1 with repainting the entire ceiling of the home Here,…

Dear Vun Fook, For water positions: 1. Particularly for Period 7 homes, where there is double #7's under Period 8 (due soon), water positions can be used, here. 2. For example, for N2 (352.5 to 7.4) and N3 (7.5 to 22.4) which has double 7's at it's facing direction, unlike, your case where you want to enhance #6 strong metal(s) with water, water positions at Period 8 "bad metal sector 7" should be used to "drown" or neutralise the #7. 3. For some homes, the alternative may be to see if it is better to change to Period 8. (This depends on the interior layout and the Period 8 N2 or N3 star chart). 1. Therefore, it may not be totally true or 100 percent true for all…

Dear Bob, 1. For Compass School Feng Shui, it is always best to take a compass reading based on -- the magnetic compass readings. 2. Good compass such as some of the better brands e.g. Suunto (Finland) has a compass for the specific zone that each of us live in. 3. In fact, under the compass school of Feng Shui, it is always best to take readings away from any metal or reinforced concrete beams, as these can skew the reading as much as 10 to 15 degrees. Even a power station below some homes e.g. some apartments are built above a sub-power station. 4. Where best, the readings from external should be taken and matched with the interior. 5. Under the compass school, we have…

Dear Anon, Please see below:- water Therefore, under Period 8: #5 - misfortune, sickness - bad Yellow earth #2 - sickness - bad earth #3 - human related issues bad wood All three are literally a wolf in sheeps clothing. Or the saying goes : A leopard never changes it's skin - bad in most periods other than in their dominant period. For example under Period 3, #3 turns good - only. Under Period 8: #7 - reverts to it's robbery / violence state #4 - changes to "Mixed-blessing". Sometimes, on the good side. Sometimes can be on the dark side. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Riccia, 1. To increase the wealth factor, and depending on the flying star chart, a water position,(if appropriate) can help to redress this imbalance. 2. But in-order to be effective, the flying star chart for the specific period (or) if the next period's chart is significantly better, than, one should try to fly into the next period. 3. For example, for many homes under Period 8, where there are: 4. #5 or #2 or a combination of these at the main door - should check out the next flying star period to see if it is more beneficial to `fly' to the other period. 5. Rather than, doing mediocre enhancement or trying to squezze out more than what the current chart cannot …

Dear Angela, Please see below: Frankly, toilets are commonly situationed in all directions of a home. And in order to determine if one sector is not favourable (therefore remedies are placed) if not, no action should be taken. More importantly: Where is the toilet situated? Where possible, toilet(s) should not be situated at the frontage (next to main door); or centrepoint of the home. Often, if toilet(s) are not situated at this sector, there is no issue in having a remedy. Usually, in order to properly look into this question (from a Flying star perspective); then the sector chart should be looked into closely. For example, since 2004 is coming. And there are m…

Dear Guest, 1. No, one need not have to get a divorce:) In such a situation. 2. This is because, statistically, 50 percent of married couples, would either fall under: Both same or Both different. And, this would be a lame excuse indeed to seek a divorce. 3. The key to understanding Feng Shui concepts or any other disciplines is to use a three-step-approach. 4. Step 1 : What is the purpose of this concept? Step 2 : What are it's strengths? Step 3 : What are it's weakness? 5. In fact, there are already, much documentation in this forum on the purpose, strength and weakness of this concept. 6. Hope you can do some home-work by using your fingers to type it into the SEARCH …
