Further to what I mentioned earlier, this is the rationale for the reason for placing e.g. two plants on each side of the main entrance as an alternative:- You can also use the SEARCH feature in this forum and simply type in " triangle effect " to list out past forum messages on it. --- Past Reply --- Topic: What is the `Triangle Effect'? Dear Sissie, In the Traditional Feng Shui practise of the use of mirrors:- 1. If one seek consultation especially from say Western Traditional School of Feng Shui especially the majority of such schools in US or Canada, in my opinion, I believe, these practitioners would normally say that Ba Gua mirror or even mirrors are "hocus pocus." 2. Therefore, I am aware that such schools say coming from the West, do not believe in the use of Ba Gua mirror(s). Even if the practitioners are Chinese (race). 3. But the distinction here is that although they are Chinese in origin, because of their cultural association i.e. they were born entirely or most of them in the West, they woul…

Dear Marti, 1. In my opinion, this is a minor or a non-issue especially for hornet bees. 2. From my own personal experience, when I was young, I can reminicent, staying in a compound especially where the fencing has `plants' with flowers growing on them, I could recall, these hornet bees had something like a yellow ring. 3. And often they would come close to the flowers on the fence. Perhaps, this is where they do polinate the plants. Sometimes, they do buzz close to my ears but I have never seen them `attack' myself or anyone. 4. Frankly, today, sometimes when one fly past my garden, I would simply stand there and listen to them. They have never created any problems. …

Dear Anon, 1. Based on 965, where 9 represents fire, six metal element and 5 (bad Yellow five or earth), the 9 with 5 is not ideal as fire (9) enhances earth (5). 2. A 6 (metal) may not be enough in such a situation. 3. Many FS practitioners, consider a computer as belonging to the fire element. Therefore, if you can, try to add more `metal' e.g. 6 coins to further destroy the two combinations of fire-earth. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Yang Ming, I like to add that, in my opinion, I am very confident that the "Black Hat" model is not viable in the Far East especially Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong and Taiwan. This is because, the "Black Hat" is based on a `marketing ploy'. I feel Black Hat is not viable for the following reasons:- 1. Locally in Singapore, the traditional Feng Shui practitioner does not mix products with their consultation. 2. Since products are readily available in a wide area in Singapore, there is NO REASON for a Feng Shui practitioner to tout such goods. 3. Unlike in the West, where perhaps, some of the products are rarer to find. And usually, some FS practitioners (authenti…

Dear Peck Wun, Please see below:- Under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, there is not much one can do unless one occupies another room. Usually, in such a situation:- 1. Always get the Shapes and Form of the placement of the interior of the bedroom right. For example, where ever possible, see if the bed can be on the opposite wall of the bedroom door. Or have the bed head placed against a solid wall. 2. This depends on the individual. But often, Flying Star Feng Shui is used to evaluate this and other rooms to neutralise any Sha Qi if any. The limited cures are either:- 1. Placement of a mirror on the wall to create a symbolic `extension'. 2. Placement or either a win…

Dear Leah, 1. Often two Feng Shui Schools can be looked at with regards to a water position e.g. aquarium. 2. The most general form is based on the Shapes and Form Feng Shui. Here, ideally, the water position should be found in a `clear space' location. Commonly, it should (commonsense) approach be placed especially an aquarium against a wall such as the living room or surrounding or even close the main door if there is sufficient space. 3. The most popular advise provided by Feng Shui practitioners is to relate a water position to the directions. For example, you have mentioned that it is considered good to place it e.g. such as East or SE (Wood Element), North (Water) e…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, it is very difficult to depend on a compass to determine all these stars that you had mentioned. Frankly, if this is the case, a book on " Secrets of Wealth, Relationships Revealed " may come in a paperback. If there is such an authentic book, then, in my opinion, it would be the hottest seller outselling books like the bible. But unfortunately, a holistic approach is a better bet. All of us in our lifetime have taken examinations since young. And we all know that the `clue' here is simply put -- to score maximum marks in the various sections of the paper. Holisic Feng Shui is also like this. And one should take into account the best practises o…

Dear Anon, It is always considered a `disadvantage' to have missing corners in a home. And there can be other significance not necessarily with regards to `recognition'. Yes, there are a few known cures and some of this include:- 1. Using a mirror to `extend' a missing corner. However, this option is best looked at in relation to Compass School Feng Shui. Here, a mirror is considered a double `edged sword': if the particular location in question is auspicious, then it can bounce back twice the good luck. But if it si an inauspicous sector, it can bounce back twice the bad luck. 2. For a landed property, there are more options. Here, the idea is to symbolically, add an out…

Dear Anon, 1. If your daughter has often has health problems, and staying all the time in your existing home, proper use of Feng Shui should be able to look at and diagnose the problem. 2. In my opinion, I also had a few cases, perhaps, one may call it a coincidence, but in these two homes, where there is a large missing corner at SE, and where, the couple had daugthers, -- perhaps, I have to say that it is a real coincidence... that it matched your situation. 3. In my opinion, the main concern is the missing corner. And it can be compounded by the wrong stars flying at the sector. Usually, the problem or issue here is the missing corner and it can be difficult to re-dre…

Dear Yang Ming, 1. In my opinion, even if we are unable to keep a distance of 2 feet or more, it is not a worrying concern, as symbolically, we can still keep smaller distances. 2. In many of the previous queires related to the same topic as yours, there are many people who have also faced same problems and even a distance or gap of a few centremetres is still ok. 3. Depending on your layout plan, where possible the kitchen should not be too close to the door, if the knobs on the stove point towards or out of it. 4. The main objective of this `exercise' is to try and keep the warmth in the home. It also depends on the compass direction of the kitchen. If the kitchen is …

Dear Tony, Usually, in most instances, each home or sector can be influenced by `seasonal' Feng Shui. Here, most probably, the wrong set of `stars' either congregate at your bedroom or a combination of some bad stars are around. Most likely this is the case. And depending on the combination of stars, it may be the monthly or yearly star combinations. Or alternatively, it has been a known fact that watercoures or even water close-by could emit minute traces of e.g. positive ions. Which is not beneficial to the body. We call this `invisible' vapours. While negative ions are beneficial, positive ions, similar to this situation in the long term may not be ideal:- Reference: …

Dear Anon, If your bedroom is in the East and that your house has been either built within 1984 to-date or any major renovation of an existing home within this period, most likely, the house will be affected by this " Five Yellow " star. The cure usually depends on the Flying Star Feng Shui analysis and the direction of your main entrance door direction. Under the Flying Star Feng Shui, there are a total of 24 directions. And a house main door depending on its direction can be situated at anyone of the 24 directions. Most of the Period 7 house have a compounding problem where the 20 year flying star may have " Bad Five Yellow " and coincidentally, another Bad Five Yello…

Dear Yew-Meng, 1. Overall, the chief concern of the White-Tiger is in-effect symbolism. 2. Here, the worst senario is to have a water position "above it". Especially a circular pool or pond. 3. One can than imagine, the `flat' pool of water as simply the open `hungry' mouth of the tiger. This is inauspicious as it `needs food' or nurishment. 4. As for the underground electricial cables, in my opinion, I feel that it is not a threat at all. The White tiger is not exactly bad. We are more concerned with it's upper part of the body i.e. the head (especially it's mouth) that can do the most damage. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear CECIL, I had posted a similar question earlier. My confusion is that houses sitiing in the East directions are called EAST houses. Then according to this the house should face West(sitting in East),or North(sitting in South) or South(sitting in North) orNW(sitting in SE).Now out of these NW and W are not considered to be good directions for the East group people, especially if they happen to be Death and Disaster directions for an individual. Please comment. Thanking you very much.

Dear Lloyd, In many instances, a bedroom over a garage is not an issue - related to sleep or health problems. Ideally, you may have to check the direction of your bedroom location. If this is a Period 7 house, currently sectors that has health related problems are at either East or South or other sectors depending on the compass direction of the main door - Flying Star theory. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wendy, 1. Thank you for your drawing of your layout plan. 2. In terms of the Shapes and Form (position) of your table and office furniture layout it is acceptable. 3. However, can you elaborate more on the large piece of glass at the back of your chair? Are there any blinds or curtain behind you? Usually, it is not good Feng Shui to have a full height glass behind your desk as it implies no support. Or backing. In many of such situations, a back (side table) would normally be the most effective cure for a full height glass section behind you. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sonet, 1. In my opinion, there is a general concensus amongst many well known FS practitioners that the Southern Hemisphere `debate' is not an issue in Feng Shui. 2. This is because, many of the theories deal with the foundamental in Feng Shui such as:- Yin and Yang concept; The Five Elements Concept; Shapes and Form Feng Shui. 3. These three areas totally do not depend on the `compass school' of Feng Shui. 4. The only area that Shapes and Form School has is simply the use of pictorial to describe each directions with e.g. an animal sign. Such as East (Green Dragon) or West (White Tiger). All these if one understands properly is simply the use of pictures or illustr…

Dear Anon, 1. Feng Shui is all about increasing `luck'. 2. The best approach is the use of `holistic' Feng Shui to try to increase `luck' in many compartments or sectors. Here, the most common set of Feng Shui theories are: 2.1. Shapes and Forms 2.2. Compass School (Flying Star & Eight House) In my personal opinion, I feel that Shapes and Forms Feng Shui takes a large chunk of the percentage of luck of a location or house. 3. Many of us have taken examinations (one time or the other). And in all examinations, weightage of marks is given to each section of an examination paper. 4. In my opinion, Shapes and Form Feng Shui can have a weightage between 50 percent to even …

Dear Julie, Thank you for your description. In my opinion, it looks like your main door is not under any `threat'. A `threat' is where one of the pillars seems to slice thru the main door i.e. if one stands at the main entrance looking out; one of the pillars should not be slicing into the main door area. Overall, in my opinion also, the square pillars are of minimal or negligble `threat'. This is unlike the `mass' of a large building's edge. In my opinion, it is perfectly acceptable in your situation (unless one of the pillars slice thru the main entrance door area). If this is the case, a 6 rod metal wind chime can be used above the main door. Or the placement of two …

Dear Tammie, Please see below:- Where possible, try to `anchor' the bed to a wall. For example, the wall next to the window. It can still face the window. This is a favourable or acceptable position: since usually, the opposite side of the window is the bedroom door. It is favourable in such a situation because, the head in this case (usually) in such situations, the person's head faces the bedroom door or can see who's coming in. I will reply separately to your most recent question. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Julie, Please see below:- In my opinion, this has to do more with `commonsense' approach than Feng Shui: Generally, a `solid' door is preferred as it is considered `theft' protection. A door with glass was considered good because it was felt that it could be broken in. Alternatively, especially in high-rise buildings, building code require e.g. escape doors to have minimum fire retardation of 1/2 an hour or more (depending on the door). Therefore, in my opinion, overall, it does not really mean that a door with glass panels is totally inauspicious. And in my opinion, can still be used without changing it. Many interior decorators recommend mirrors to reflect…
