You are about to get on a bus for a trip. Which of the following seats will you choose to sit on? 1)A front seat on the driver's side 2)A back seat on the driver's side 3)A front seat on the entrance side 4)A back seat on the entrance side Here's your analysis.................. A front seat on the driver's side You are keen to know other's matters. Besides, you choose the front seat, it means you are energetic and always lead the team. You will always tell your team where to go and you will be dissatisfied if you do not get to lead the team. That's why others leave this job to you. A back seat on the driver's side You can take care of all members in the group very well. Y…

Dear Linda, Under the Eight House theory: 1. For the breadwinner look out for the main entrance (sector) and the bedroom where the breadwinner / spouse sleeps in. 2. For other family members especially your daughter, look out for the intangible force affecting her in the bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear SL, No, it depends. This is the rationale, why, I suggested for a `proportinate' sketch or layout plan. Without a proper sketch, it is not easy to comment whether to superimpose a 9 grid or to assess it as an `L' shaped home. For an `L' shaped home even if we separate it into two rectangles; it may be quite trickly for some to find out what is the direction of the main entrance and whether to use to directions (different) grids for each rectangle or superimpose identical grids to both triangles. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear SL, Further to what I wrote earlier, looking at `Qi' at the main entrance area and whether to place the reception counter at the centre; right or left wall is an interesting subject. In my opinion, a good Shapes and Form FS expert, would need to visit the site and through feel, could provide the appropriate advice on the above. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear SL, 1. In my opinion, and from what you had related, it would normally not the norm to take the direction of the gate to the building to determine the compass direction i.e. one of the 15degree increments needed in the Flying Star analysis. 2. Sometimes taking the reading of the `gate' may perhaps indicated that the person (FS master) may be looking at the `frontage' (which is not necessarily the front door) or if the practitioner has difficulty in locating the front main entrance. 3. It is my believe that, in most instances, FS practitioners would normally determine the compass direction of your front main entrance and then plot the Flying Star. As you mentioned, th…

Dear Debbie, In my opinion, the concern here is more of `commonsense' approach. Many of the advise in Feng Shui dwells with `commonsense'. For example, the advise is that it is not good to have a bedroom above a kitchen. Although, fire can happen anywhere in the home, there is some possibility that a fire could break out of a kitchen. As fire, smoke and heat rises; someone living just above the kitchen could be at risk. In your case, it has more to do with `privacy' and security than "inauspicious" Feng Shui. In my opinion, so long as you can add e.g. an opaque film or secure the windows, this would be acceptable since there is no where else to place your head. This is u…

Dear Thao, Please see below:- You can make use of the Eight House report under the following URL:- Manual method of obtaining your Eight House Chart (with step-by-step) information on how to do so:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Free computerised Eight House report is available under:- http://www.geomancy-online.com In my opinion, using sector Feng Shui is not effective to enhance your career. For example, some FS practitioners would advise that North = career sector and have advised their clients to enhance this sector. This method is too general to be of any good to everyone as it is not personalised. In Traditional Feng Shui, what is most important is …

Dear Tammy, 1. Under the FS concept, "if one can no longer see the threat, it no longer becomes a threat." 2. In your situation: 2.1. The most effective method is to protect the bedroom windows e.g. use a curtain or blind. 2.2. The other method is to plant trees behind the house such that it will block the view of the power cables. (But this may not be feasible or it may take time). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Dirk, When one is using simplified analysis, using only the Year of birth, your Chinese star chart will be based on e.g. Fire-Dragon. Ref: www.lovesigns.net (Year of birth module). The free report would correctly indicate your element. However, the element and strength should be taken into consideration. For example, weak wood or strong wood. A weak wood person should have addition of water element to help wood to grow. A strong wood person differs from a weak wood person in that the strong wood should be neutralised. Here, he can make use of metal element. Where metal destroys wood to create wealth. Ref: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/5element.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, One of the basic questions involving the bed room has to do with the level or balance of yin / yang. Here, Yin relates to rest. While Yang relates activity. Therefore, " Yin " is favoured instead of Yang especially in a bedroom. Where rest should be more important. However, especially for the growing i.e. children or students, especially if they are studying, should have a mix of yin and yang in the bedroom especially if this location allows them for work and later for rest. A water fountain depending on its size, may create a MORE Yang condition and with an aquarium. There is no hard and fast rule to say that one should not use such items in the bedroom other …

Dear Kevin, As the house is `shared' not much you can do here. However, since you mentioned that you are a weak wood person, you can enhance yourself with the following:- 1.Look under the Luck Pillars to see whether the season has any influence on your element i.e. weak wood. For example, if the current 10 year season is " Metal " element, this may not ba an auspicious period. And the cure is to enhance yourself with Water element or Wood element. For example, if the current 10 year season is " Water " element, this is considered favourable to you. For a weak wood person, you should try to enhance yourself with (first: Water) or (secondary: Wood element). For example, you…

Dear Sang Lee, When you are using the ordinary compass, the method is the same for both direction taking of a landed property or an apartment/flat/condominium unit:- Reference:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm Mechanics of how to can be found under this url:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm where you can find helpful step-by-step approach in gettting a copy of the layout plan, and using e.g. a transparency to superimpose on the layout plan the North - South direction. Dear Miss Quiss, This year, it is advisable not to renovate at South South East or 150 degrees (Tai Su) and the location in conflict i.e. East ... If you are doing renovation at the area, it is best to avoid, being around when the work is carried out at the East. The above is just consideration. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Amanda, In my opinion, it is difficult to associate a vehicle problems with self - Feng Shui. However, under the Five elements concept, we could chose a colour of a car that harmonises with our element. For example, a person with `weak wood' can be advised to purchase a car that is blue or green. (First choice: Blue/grey or black). As FS and Pillars are holistic methods, one may have to look at one's element and strength, the house Feng Shui (where we try to avoid or neutralise `bad luck' such as sectors of the house with `misfortune' #5 stars (if we are basing to FS/ Pillars). Otherwise, it could be real mechanical problems with your car etc... Warmest Regards, Ceci…

Dear Michael, In my opinion, many Feng Shui authors or websites have factored in the `true compass direction'. For example, in this website, all compass directions mentioned are based on `true' compass readings i.e. from an ordinary compass. What is `North - zero degrees' is North and what is `South - 180 degrees' is true South. Overall, if one is trying to follow a concept from a website or a book author, it is best to `read' or understand the author's concept totally. From start to end. And not read a certain concept from one site and piece it with another information from other sites. For this website, I like to confirm that all interpretations and analysis is based on…

Dear Nonie, There are various FS concepts and frankly, it may not be that bad as basing it on the south side / fire with water may not necessarily mean inauspiciousness. If you have pictures of it, feel free to post it in this forum. I can take a look at it. More importantly, Shapes and Form is a major consideration. One KEY area in Feng Shui is the accumulation of wealth and draining of `bad' water. Perhaps, it may be premature to say that this is inauspicious. Alternatively, it could spell auspiciousness. I am unable to comment fully at this moment without much info on the land form of your home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Nikhil, If you have seen most of the questions posted, Feng Shui and Destiny deals trying to increase luck. Feng Shui tries to increase one's earth luck while Destiny (Pillars of Destiny) maps out the heaven luck and we can enhance oneself with it. Thus, it is hard at the moment to pinpoint what went `wrong' presently. The other situation is that holistic Feng Shui plus destiny depends on your level of participation or usage of it. For a start, you can:- 1. Improve on `Earth' Luck You can use some of the concepts or check whether your home is `harmonized' with - Shapes and Forms Feng Shui - Eight House - Flying Star 2. Improve on `Heaven' Luck - Pillars of Destiny -…

Dear Christina, Usually, Feng Shui specialises in the `omens' of the earth. And less of use in Love and Marriage. Unless one believes in sector Feng Shui and hope to have a good relationship i.e. by beautifying or enhancing say the South West sector (Romance). This is to me a flawed concept. You could either use Chinese astrology or Pillars of Destiny to help improve/understand your relationship. Overall there are two `modules' and it depends on your level of use of it:- 1. A basic way of understanding one's characteristics say under one's horoscope. Here, the nature of love is one of the great mysteries of life. One way you can improve your relationship and love life by…

Dear Linda, In my opinion, there is a very wide interpretation using numerology. There are various ways of looking at the numbers and `formulas'. Especially for the Cantonese (a dialect group of the Chinese) - especially from Hong Kong. (Origin - Canton). To the Cantonese, `four' means `say' or die. But from my personal experience, I have analysised houses and even is aware of quite alot of people with 444 etcs... For example, house numbers like #14-44 or even phone numbers like 244-4444. I found that these people are no less lucky then any other persons. If I were you, basing `luck' on just house number is incomplete. So long as one's house has good shapes and forms et…

Dear Slawek, 1. In my opinion, it would not be advisable to have a skylight at the centrepoint of the house. 2. If one really wants to do so, have to make sure that the top-down view of the house is exactly a square. And in place of the skylight, a court-yard would be a better alternative. Here, square is represented by the earth element and under geomancy it symbolises authority and justice. 3. (The difference between a court-yard is that it is opened as opposed to a skylight where it can be closed ). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cer, In my applied Feng Shui book, there are three formulas that can be used to calculate the Qua number accurately. And they are applicable even if the date of birth is under year 2000 and more. You should use the website's free computerised software to check your Qua number which I feel is accurate. Ref: http://www.geomancy-online.com (Under the Free Eight House Report). Warmest Regards, Cecil
