Dear Anon Frankly, there is really not much one can do but to apply the concept `if it no longer seen it will not become a threat'. Thus, close the toilet door, when not in use. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, It depends. Perhaps the mirror was installed before you moved in. If not, one good starting point is.. what was one's rationale for placing the two mirrors are. Is it because, it is part of the decor or is that it was because; an advise or suggestion that mirrors are good for the home. It is particularly interesting to note that not all but quite alot of Chinese epecially Cantonese dialect group, love to place a large mirror facing the `dining' table. It was felt that, a mirror facing the dining table was good especially if food or fruits are placed on the dining table as they `reflect' twice the number food i.e. symbollically representing `abundance'. In Feng …

Dear Kim, Apologies, this site does not discuss BTB methods. As far as I am aware, there are no practitioners in the Far East and in Hong Kong or Taiwan practising such things. It is felt that BTB is a modern marketing invention by one man. If you are apply Compass School methods i.e. The Eight House or Flying Star Feng Shui, then, do look at how the main entrance door is been surveyed using the following example/link:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm Under Flying Star Feng Shui, this is the method used:- 1. Even if one does not make use of the main entrance door, so long as the door has a house number, one should also try to draw a Flying Star Chart to analy…

Dear Santosh, In my opinion, and the many audits done locally, the placement of shoe rack is only of secondary importance or really not a major issue for most of us. Although, some FS practitioners may feel that there is lots of `hipe' in wanting less clutter or felt that `bad qi' if one places shoes/sandals or shoe rack at the front main door. In Feng Shui audits mainly by professionals, assessment is usually based on using the Compass School and particuarly the Shapes and Form of the site and the home. Which is considered the `bigger' picture. Already, within these two schools of FS, there are really so much assessment to be made here. For the garbage bin, especially fo…

Dear Say Pew, Yes, for charting a Flying Star analysis; one vital information is the date of birth of the house i.e. the date the house has been built or when a major renovation has been done. For example, you can visit this link:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/calendar.htm Period 7 is between 1984 to 2003. While Period 6 is between 1964 to 1983. Especially if the house was built say in 1989 and currently does not have any major renovations done to it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Nurit, Frankly, if Traditional Feng Shui is being applied, there are many principles involved in accessing both the home; the `fit' of the home to your parents (breadwinner); the birth chart of the house and even Pillars of Destiny of each family member. Another instance is that a North-East house (main door facing) may need additional attention especially since this is the (NE = devil's gate). For a start, you could try to apply the Eight House Theory using the steps shown under http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Or use the free Eight House report available under www.geomancy-online.com At the same time, you can try to apply Shapes and Form Feng Shui. In particul…

Dear Momo, 1. If you are using the Flying Star House Number report, this is meant for apartments/flat and not landed property. 2. Usually, basing on house number may not be a good idea or a direct basis to determine how good or bad a house is. In Feng Shui, an audit based on Shapes and Forms and other Compass School methods, would be a better option to help increase or improve one's luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Xtine, Lava which has been cooled, should in my opinion not be considered any longer as `Fire element'. This is similiar to other materials that had cooled down. For example, ceramics which has been `fired' in a kiln, has cooled down. Ceramics is in my opinion considered as earth element. The lava you spoke off, should be considered (in my opinion) earth element also. However, if it contains a high percentage of metal or metal oxide, then it could be considered as the metal element. Another interesting to note is that even if it is considered as the earth element; in the past Chinese geology, each grain is inspected to find out what is the actual element. Example, i…

Dear Steven In reality, one should consider the entrance towards the home even if the frontage seems to be the North. At your `second' level, the entrance to your home should be the location of the door. In my opinion, it should still be South. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear SL, Frankly, in the past, there were no aircon. And we therefore, cannot rely on the past for any information on this. Overall, based on "commonsense" it would be best for airconditioning to blow "from the side" rather than blowing towards our face e.g. aircon behind the bed headrest or flowing towards our legs towards our face. This can be quite uncomfortable and may affect our breathing... Well for wind = money flowing out of the aircon, there is really no harm if one placed coins on the aircon. Coins which represent metal is one of the `safest' materials to use as most of us know that metal element can help to cure `bad earth' elements and `bad wood' elements. War…

Dear SY Wong, In general, the best days for changes or doing things e.g. moving is either the 15th or the 1st day of any lunar month. (Note: Chinese usually avoid the 7th month.) Another method is to llok at one's Ba Zi e.g. element and strength and choose dates that auspicious to one's animal sign. Also under www.geomancy-online.com there is an Auspicious date module. Which is based on an individual's element and strength and the best dates for him/her. You can also make use of the Tung Shu or the 100 year calendar to look for auspicious dates. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Feng Shui and other Chinese divinity methods is all about trying to improve one's luck. It is a holistic method of trying to improve luck in many areas:- 1. Feng Shui For example 1.1 Shapes and Form 50 marks 1.2 Eight House Theory 10 marks 1.3 Flying Star Theory 40 marks ------------------------ Total 100 marks ======================== Like mathematics, we should try to improve the above luck. 2. Some of us look to sector Feng Shui to improve our luck and simply concentrate on this only. Thus if for example, it comes under Flying Star Theory and the total marks allocated to it is 40 marks. If there are 9 sectors in the home, this means that 4…

Dear Anon, It is interesting to find out the survey results under http://www.geomancy.net/polls/ for this poll under the above link:- Are you comfortable sleeping facing a TV set (mirror)? A short simple 3 questions survey. (The third last poll) One can find that not all of us are `affected' by mirror facing the bed. However, one simple method is to either use opaque film over the mirror or place paper over the mirror e.g. tape plain paper over it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anamika, The main important thing to do is to find the centrepoint of the house. You can follow the instructions below:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm to find the centrepoint of the home and subdivide the home into the relevant compass grids either 9 divisions or 8 divisions depending on one's comfort zone. The url, here can help you understand how to do a step-by-step guide... http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Yang Ming, Usually most house plans have both the individual layout plans and more importantly the site/plot plans. Most of the site/plot plans will have the North-South orientation. Here, we can use a protractor to measure the inclination of the house i.e. North/South -- East/West and then superimpose this grid to the layout plan. Here, one can orientate the individual layout plan to this larger site/plot plan. We can then have a `rough' or if done correctly a good `estimate' of the compass direction e.g. the main entrance door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Yang Ming, Under the Eight House Theory, there is really not much one can `cure' here. What you can do is to make sure that the `Shape and Form' Feng Shui is acceptable for you in your work area. For example, avoiding the desk facing a toilet or next to it. Or have people walking behind your table (if possible). Feng Shui is about trying to increase one's luck and if we `hit' a wall with regards to the above; we could perhaps try to increase other areas of our luck. Such as the luck in our home or personal self. Warmest Regards, Cecil Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Teresa, Can I confirm whether you are drawing a bagua based on fixed template or using e.g. the Eight House Theory (sample format as shown under http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm ) For significance of missing corners, you can review them at http://www.geomancy.net/fs/building.htm ). Do note that sometimes, it may not necessarily be a `missing corner' but instead, a sector may be a protusion. If you have a sketch of your layout plan (to scale); you can attach it to the forum and I can try to find out the centrepoint. You can then use this point to place e.g. your Eight House Template on it. Do note that under the Eight House Theory, if one does not spent time at …

Dear Elaine, Since the house is rented; and working from a 2nd bedroom. If you are converting or using the 2nd bedroom rather than the main bedroom (1st bedroom) then, you can do so. For the position of the tables /chairs; it is always best to prioritise ie. make sure that the tables are positioned based on Good Shapes and Form Feng Shui (first). As an example, the table should not be directly facing the bedroom door. Where possible the table should not be on the same wall or against the same wall (with the opposite side) .... is the toilet. Please see below:- If you are using a bedroom (usually a place of rest) then, you may have to try to use the Yin and Yang concep…

Dear Nini, Please see below:- This can be very subjective. And it depends on individuals. Some of us may be highly sensitive to certain issues e.g. storage below the bed. While others may not. Some of us have heard a tale, where a princess could not sleep even if there is a small piece of needle below her pillow case. Alternatively, it may be biological or some other issues/daily concerns/problems that make one unable to sleep. Frankly, there is not much one can do; other to do a test.. i.e. try removing the storage for a week and see if one still sleeps comfortably. (If this can be done). Your second question was addressed in another recent forum message. Warmest Reg…

Dear Nini, I agree with Deborah on this. One important concept in Feng Shui is " If it no longer can be seen (the threat) it no longer becomes a threat. Therefore, one of the easiest thing to do, e.g. a threat looking into a window is to use curtains or blinds. Blinds are a better alternative in such a situation since, one can manipulate it to filter as much light into the room (if possible). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Thank you. I was wondering if/hoping this would be addressed. I was aware of the first problem (resemblence to joss sticks) but not the second two. Thanks for the education/enlightenment. Deb
