Dear Rae, Frankly, Feng Shui is not so simplistic. It is difficult to achieve a `break thru' by paying homage to a corner i.e. career corner. Or feeling disappointed for some that `my toilet' is in the career sector. In my opinion, it is best not to practise FS in such situations. Usually, many have gone to paying homage to a corner and the end result is to buy items or materials or objects to enhance these sectors. The people who benefit from such `beliefs' are those selling the commercial wares who ultimately make the profit. Under the Eight House Theory, it is usually the time spent at a sector i.e. if a sector is e.g. the death sector but if one does not spent time th…

Dear Max, Yes, with proper soil analysis and soil management especially drainage and structurally sound retaining walls, houses built as you had mentioned can be auspicious. Many a times, some of the various reasons below compounded by weather may cause landslides: 1. In many instances, too many houses were built on these hills providing downward pressure on the hill. This is less of an issue if there are no heavy downpours. But if there are heavy downpours, coupled by poor retaining walls or vegetation.. a landslide may be eminent. 2. Ideally, the best hills are those of limestones (hard rocks). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Feng Shui (earth luck) and other Chinese divinity methods such as Pillars of destiny (Heaven luck) are often looked at in a holistic way. 2. Frankly, there are no quick solutions to understanding your problems. 3. What FS and other Chinese divinity methods are used is to boost one's luck or if it is Pillars of Destiny (to understand one's Heaven map and improve/change some of it). 4. Furthermore, with unemployment either due to structural unemployment or competitiveness (some prefer to employ younger employees)... there are so many other related situations that may have to be looked at. 5. True Feng Shui can only help to improve one's luck. But there are lim…

Dear Rae, If not sure, don't `activate' anything. It is not like buying some objects or items at $500.00 and hoping that one can get back a return of $1,500 or more. The only sensible way to `invest' money is through proper finance schemes or through low risk returns such as Fixed Deposits or Savings Account. Many fall into the trap of "Credit Card Feng Shui". Where, one gets cash advance in the `hope' of getting a return. The only return here is a bill with accumulated interests that loan sharks would only goggle their eyes on. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Angeline, Under macro Feng Shui; for Singapore, which is located in the south, ideal colour of doors especially entrance doors is white or represent the metal element. For your case, I have seen the doors and felt that it is `minor' and in my opinion, will not have any effect on your family. As opposed to the headboard which is symbolic of sleeping in a tomb. Therefore, I personally feel that there is no issue and there is no need to paint the lovely `natural' wood coloured door(s). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Tom, Further to what I mentioned earlier, here are some other considerations:- 1. Symbolism is important in Feng Shui. I am not sure about natural crysals or gemstones but the shape preceeds material used. For example, for a piece of wood shaped like a pyramid, although its natural element is wood; but because it has taken the form of a pyramid, it should now be classified as a `fire element'. Alternatively, the piece of wood has been shaped like a pyramid and painted red. Here, red = fire element would also make it as a fire element. 2. Traditional Feng Shui is all about the Five elements concept: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal elements. Although, the methology…

Dear Anon, On the issue of the Grand Duke, there can be controvesy over the definition of how the Grand Duke can be `offended'. Therefore, when answering your question, I used the word `strickly speaking' i.e. where it concerns some advice, it is a must not to offend the Grand Duke. In my opinion, I feel that it is acceptable: 1. When one does a renovation especially take the case; where this is not a new house and we need to renovate the home. When we engage a contractor to do the entire renovation of the home; I feel that this is acceptable. On the `commonsense' approach.. it is not practical to ask the contractor to say do renovation to the home and leave out some part…

Dear Damodar, Weak or strong is determined by several factors: 1. On a very general level, the day of birth is referenced to the season the person is born. Based on the interaction of the season ELEMENT STRENGTH, it is looked at in relation to the person's ELEMENT. 2. Depending on the type of Pillars of Destiny chart `done': 2.1 Some simply look at the day of birth, while others look deeper using the interaction of the four pillars. More advanced analysis looks at all four pillars: Year, Month, Day and Time + House of Life and House of Conception. More advanced analysis looks at each pillar = Heaven stem and earthly branches with reference to other stems and earthly bran…

Dear Anon, I elaborate further at a later date. Do note that under the Five Elements concept, we often introduce a controlling element. For example, in your case of WEAK WOOD element, and if the season of influence is METAL element; to neutralise the METAL element effects on the person, the remedy is to introduce either: a. WATER element. Here water produces or increases WOOD. b. Alternatively if we do not introduce WATER, we can introduce FIRE element. Where FIRE destroys METAL. Under Para a. We apply the productive cycle i.e. Water -> increase weak Wood = STRONG WOOD. To help weak WOOD grow in strength to overcome METAL element. Undera Para b. We apply the destruct…

Dear Anon, I understand your situation/position as it is difficult to convince someone else on this. Strictly speaking, one should not even drill (i.e. touch the `grand duke' at the specific location). Unlike a situation where, " one does " a major renovation i.e. call a contractor to do it for `you'. This information is found under the Flying Star report at www.geomancy-forum.com Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Slawek, 1. Usually, a more acurate analysis is to use the Flying Star analysis. 2. Based on Flying Star numerology, do look out for #2 sickness and #5 misfortune nos. 3. It is my belief that the South sector has an imbalance and it could also be the result of bad wood #3 and the addition of water element i.e. fish tank that could create such an imbalance. 4. To sound `less complicated'; since your family members are now sick; it is best to drain off the water or remove the fish tank as soon as possible. Certainly, there is indeed an imbalance at that sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Stephaine, 1. I can quite understand your confusion on how to apply the various concepts that appears in various books - authors, FS practitioners. 2. On a macro level; it would be best to avoid `modern' day concepts on Feng Shui. Such as Ba Gua teachings or the use of Fixed templates. 3. Where possible, try to find out, where possible, whether certain forms of FS is based on `modern' day teachings or traditional forms of Feng Shui. I understand this may be difficult if one learns from a third party. But if it is through a book or site, try to avoid sites relating to Black Hat Sect FS. The clue is to check on the author's background and /or association especially wi…

Dear Anon, 1. For a matter of interest, if you visit www.lovesigns.net; you can see a pictural chart of the 12 animal signs. 2. Do look closely the animal sign that is opposite your animal sign. For each animal, the animal sign directly opposite your sign. 3. For example for an OX, the most incompatible animal sign is the RAM. 4. Under www.lovesigns.net; it is based on just the Year of birth. 5. Ba Zi Feng Shui or Pillars of Destiny i.e. Year, Month, Day and time looks far more closely on the interactions; combinations, triple combinations and clashes to provide a detail analysis as opposed to a simplistic model as in the Year of birth " Chinese horoscope " under www.lov…

Dear Anon, "Five Yellows" is a common term used under Flying Star numerology or Luo Shou grid. Where #5 is known as the misfortune number. It is related to the five elements to the Earth element. As Earth element is represented by Yellow colour, therefore, some Flying Star FS practitioners call it " FIVE (5) Yellow ". Thus e.g. Wu Kwei or 5 ghosts etc.. are other terms and are no where close to nor `associated' with this number. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Angel and Bernard, Please see below:- For NE30 degrees, avoid placing the crysals and amethyst at the location where you are considering placing your dining table. That location should preferably be avoided. For the collection of 50+ pieces, you can place it at the location (previously the altar of the previous owner). Avoid placing it when you first step into the home i.e. at the divider of the room. The above is the better location. Preferably, your fridge be placed just after you step into the kitchen area (to the right) or next to the washing machine). Avoid, placing the frige facing the stove in the SE sector. Yes, you can use Metal i.e. 6 metal coi…

Dear Bee Cheng, Most of the time, majority of `cures' required has to do with the use of metal element especially to cure bad earth i.e. #2 and #5 and bad wood e.g. #3 & #4. Thus, it is less of an issue with regards to finding a location for a metal safe. If one wants to go into further detail, Flying Star would provide better `fine-tuning' but otherwise, I personally feel, try to place it in a room especially at one corner. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jose, Unfortunately, " Feng Shui " has been highly commercialised and this gives it a really bad " after-taste " or bad reputation. I can quite understand that many people have purchased books or even convinced that they must buy, buy and buy commercialised items "in-exchange" for better luck .... But after-a-while, after having seen no results and yet money gets drained off; many of us would go into dispair and may end up worse - in a vicious cycle of poor finances which affect family relationships etc... The concept of buy, buy, buy and place, place, place may sometimes create more problems also. As the saying goes " Rome was not built in a day". Similarly to unde…

Dear Anon, 1. For wooden floors, it is not so much of what is considered `best' in Feng Shui but more of "commonsense" or rather experience of using wooden floors. 2. For example, it is felt that it would be better for wooden or parquet floor tiles be used in a bedroom. This is because of the belief that: 2.1 when one wakes up, and gets out of the bed, it would be better to step on wooden floors. This is because wooden floors have less conductivity i.e. one do not feel cold or suddenly feel cold as the feet touches the floor. 2.2 Many people, work in their bedrooms i.e. study table. Therefore, it would be better for their feet to be in contact with a neutral floor i.e. wo…

Dear Wasis, For flights, it would depend on the direction of travel and transit through countries. As the flight usually lasts not more than 15 hours, nowadays, in modern times, less concerned of many people of the travel from and to a particular destination with the advent for `heavy' globalisation and travel. Which is frequent. Please see below:- Usually, if the house has brought in `luck' the advise is not to `change' it including the frontage if we can. I believe, the change from a garden to pavement stones would have affected the Feng Shui of your home. Many Chinese who stay in Indonesia were not allowed to use Chinese/Mandarin names but instead to take on s…
