Hi Master Cecil, We are looking at a house that has been vacant for 8 years. We will need to redo the entire landscaping in the front and back of the house, including getting rid of a big dying tree and roots. But inside, we are only planning small innovations such as adding a dividing wall. Does having the house vacant for so long change the house from a period 7 to period 8 house? If not, what other renovations can you suggest that will change the house from a period 7 to a period 8 house? For example, would changing kitchen cabinets work? Thank you and Happy New Year! Regarding the attached floorplan, can you help me with the following questions? 1) In determining the shape of the house, do we include the garage? If so, it appears to be an indented SW house. If we don't count the garage, what shape house do you think it is? 2) This is a two-sided stairway. Are the stairs in this house inauspicious? Dear Cecil, Thank you for setting up this wonderful forum! I am confused about the following items regarding the site evaluation: 1) Normally the turtle should be in the back of the house for protective support. If so, is it not favorable to buy a house with a golf course view (because one can't plant large trees in the back of the yard else they'd block the view)? Would the answer change if there are other houses and then a mountain behind the golf course? 2) Regarding the statement that one should not buy a house sitting on a sloping lot... does that mean it is bad to build your house on a piece of land that is at the edge of a higher plateau (because once your lot ends, the land behind your lot is on a lower elevation land). 3) Lastly, regarding the Dragon on the left/east theory, is it then not as favorable if there is a little public road on the left of your house (between yours and your left neighbor's house)? Dear Cecil, Thank you very much for your advice. We have temporarily blocked the hole by taping plastic wrap around the hole. The plastic wrap is very thin and can be poked with a finger. Do you think it will help, or do we need to seal the hole with a sturdier material? Also, is it all right if the air sealer is transparent, eg. clear plastic or glass where you can still see the back door from the front door? Thank you, Gwen

Dear Cecil, The front door of my house faces the back door. In between is a semi-wall that does not reach the ceiling and has a big rectangular opening from the waist up. The semi-wall acts as a shelf. Some people have told me to hang green crystals on the semi-wall, while others suggest placing a mirror or Half Moon and Sun near the back door. What do you think is the best thing to do? Should I follow all the suggestions? We've just moved into the house for a few months, and all of our cash inflow just goes right out. Please help!
