  1. Dear cecil,
I also have read the book by author Biolin Wu. I wanted to know is there such thing as
Taoist feng shui. Secondly, the author says that he belongs to the white cloud monastery in China. But I read somewhere that the religion is banned in China that monks are not allowed to practise their religion. So what is the truth. Do monastery exists in China. Thanks.

  2. Dear Robert B,
The questions are asked to learn and clarify things. Who better to ask then the masters themselves. Since this category was created so that users can learn about chinese culture and to learn what are some taboos and superstitions. And I think it is great to know about such intricate things so that one wont get a culture shock if one decides to visits another country. And it makes one aware that like any other culture there are things in chinese culture which one might find different and strange. And thanks for telling the users about the strange and weird eating practises of the Europeans and other cultures. I was not aware of these practises and now I get to learn something new about different culture since these things are not mentioned in cook books or travel guides.
And these things can be learned only through a learning forum like this where the person
explaining the fine points is aware of the culture first hand and is aware that the questions are asked for learning purpose and not to offend some body. Since you cant go to Hong Kong or Taiwan and ask a person there why this practise is followed or ask your chinese neighbor or room mate about such intricate things.
Its like a dictionary which gives meaning for all words even some dirty words are explained
in the dictionary. Does that mean one should stop consulting the dictionary. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

  3. Dear cecil,
My friends son has a small fish tank and he is trying to rear a single goldfish for almost a year now but the fish does not survive more than a few months and its turning out to be pretty expensive hobby. I was wondering how the people who rear koi or goldfish in Hong Kong, Taiwan make the fish survive since they have a pond full of it. Read the article about the fish and fishes there seemed to be pretty expensive. In short I want to know what is the secret of rearing koi or goldfish. Thanks.
