Confusion with the Pillars of Destiny report
Dear Dylan, 1. The main purpose of the new report with 6 pillars is because, the two houses: Houses of conception and life are important elements in each of our Pillars of Destiny. Why a `6 pillars report' instead of 4 pillars? 2. In the past, there were more than 6 pillars. There were reports with 8 pillars. However, 8 pillars reports are no longer popular because the other two pillars relate to Yin or the dead. 3. Chances of analysing triple combination clashes are nearly non-existent with only 4 pillars. Where else, with 6 pillars (with 12 combinations of branches/stems) the likelyhood of finding out the triple combinations. 4. One's element may change from weak to strong or strong to weak with the addition of the 6 pillars. This is a more accurate analysis. The above is thus a brief summary of the main differences between the two. Warmest Regards, Cecil

This year bad direction is North?
Dear Anon, Please see below:- Yes, one should stand at the centre-point of the house facing the main door to take a reading. No, based on all readings used for inputs in this website we use the method as mentioned under the link http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm Yes, this is the method used here. ---- On a different subject --- If one uses the Luopan, a different method is adopted. But as mentioned in a few messages, most readers can easily get hold an ordinary compass thus, this is the principal method, used in this website. Since we are using the ordinary compass, all the `information' and instructions on how to read, and input the figures in this site are based on this `method'. If you follow other methods, please follow the particular author's method, TOTALLY, from start to end. Warmest Regards, Cecil

What is 6 coin cure?
Dear Anon, 1. The 6 coins (is used) inconjunction with the Flying Star analysis to cure strong earth. The above is based on an imbalance of the Five Elements at a specific sector. 2. As for `finance' problems since there is no link with it and the Five Elements, I am not sure how you come about to `deduce' that it can `cure' finance problems. Any insights on this. Thanks. Warmest Regards Cecil

Fish tank facing main door
Dear Anon, It should not pose a problem for a fish tank to be directly opposite the main door. However, do check that it is not at the centrepoint of the house. Thanks. Cecil

Water Fountain inside the home
Dear T Wong, Please see below: Imagine this: if the ceiling above you is flat, then there is no `beam'. If the ceiling above has a supporting beam to support the structure of the above unit/floor than, it is a beam. Under Feng Shui, even if there is a ceiling beam but if it is fully covered under a false ceiling, this no longer becomes a `threat.' Warmest Regards, Cecil

Taking compass direction
Dear Carrie, 1. If one uses the ordinary compass, one should not be concerned about `holding' the compass at the North or South. What one needs to do is to take a compass reading from the centre-point of the house towards the main door. One should thus take the compass reading from the compass. 2. Your confusion will arise only if one uses the Chinese Luopan i.e. the compass needle is marked `from South to North' i.e. completely reversed from the ordinary compass. So the question asked is are you using a Chinese Luopan? 1. If no, there is no longer an issue here. 2. If you are using a Chinese Luopan, make sure you know how to use it first. Warmest Regards, Cecil

The Plus Equilibrium (C) Cecil Lee
1. Whenever you have three houses facing each other, it is best to balance this with a third house or a water position. 2. The Plus Equilbrium ensures that four houses are always facing each other or three houses and a water position forms a `PLUS' sign. This is considered an auspicious layout. Here goes:

This year bad direction is North?
Dear Anon, To find out how to get a proper compass reading, please go refer to this page: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm The above material with animated gif should help you to properly determine the direction of your main door using an ordinary compass. Please see below:- Do try to determine the direction of the main door first. As there are many levels of Feng Shui analysis, if you are facing problems, you may consider using the more powerful Flying Star analysis to check if the house is in balance. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Living on a culdesac
Dear Nancy, 1. I have looked thru the photo & layout you sent to my email account. 2. Overall, your plot of land is not an ideal shape. Units 5402 and 5401 are at a `T' junction and for these two units at the end of the road, preferably the main doors should not be in direct alignment to the road. Your home and the opposite house (5408) plus units 5402 and 5401 are in a configuration "close to" the Yang Zhai Shi Shu where three houses `meet'. This is considered a `bad' layout (not "fatal" but bad) in that it signifies `family will not be rich'. 3. The above is based on a three house layout. But with the four house layout, it looks similar to the above. Hopefully, it would not be the same. 4. I have seen the picture of your frontage of the house. It pose no problems as the main door is well `hidden' from any poison arrows. Please see below:- Yes, do start slow with Feng Shui. Nothing could be worse than doing all the wrong things or spending unnecessary money and this may not bear fruit. It would not be advisable to place a wind chime unless, you personally liked it and not becaues of Feng Shui justification. With your `four house' configuration, more care should be placed in using the wrong Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

How to put the remedies
Dear Anon, 1. It depends on the shape of the house and at which `angle' the compass direction is in relation to the house. 2. One should thus where possible see which sector the compass degree falls and the `angle of influence' of each sector. 3. If one is not too sure, avoid placing the cure or place it `directly' at the compass direction (degree indicated). At least, here chances are you will not `overlapp' by placing another cure close to it. Warmest Regards, Ceciil

Why turkey not included in chinese cuisine
Dear Anon, Yes, I agree with you. It is quite true that the traditional Chinese cuisine does not include turkey. More commonly, the Chinese rear goose, ducks and chickens. Perphaps, the turkey was less well known thus not popular with the Chinese. (My personal guess). I believe, the turkey is less well known and personally, the meat is coarse as compared to those of other smaller birds. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Sickness star
Dear Anon, You can place 6 ancient Chinese coins tied with a red string on the wall on that sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Water Fountain inside the home
Dear T Wong, Please see below:- Ideally, if your condo has a water element, it would be best to `ride' on the water position of the condominum especially if it enhances the entire plot of land. If you want to place a small water fountain: 1. It should usually be inside the living room. 2. It should not be at the centre of the house. 3. Preferably, that the breadwinner or the spouse is not a weak fire person or strong water element person. 4.If the condo is not big, or less than 1,400 sq feet, one should think twice placing the fountain. 5. If one places a fountain, some asked, should I switch it on 24 hours? Usually, if the fountain is small, it will have minimal impact as e.g. the beneficial Qi created, is insignificant. One consideration is that if it is turned off, one might consider it `broken'. The SW or romance corner you mentioned is based on the Eight Associations or Life Aspirations concept. This is a static interpretation of the Gua. As this is concept is too general, in my opinion, it does not matter if one enhances the sector or not. I am not sure, how a wind chime can help in an enclosed toilet. Firstly, for a `hobbist' or one who enjoys the sound of the wind chime, I believe the toilet is too sheltered for it to make a sound. Secondly, perhaps, you can share with us where did you come across that a wind chime should be placed in a toilet. Ideally, one must be careful if one wants to place a metallic wind chime at the West, NW and NE. If placed wrongly it may be `bad'. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Living on a culdesac
Dear Nancy, Frankly, it is difficult for me to fully visualise what u mean. If would be nice if you have a sketch or some pictures of it. As you mentioned that your house is on top of a hill, Feng Shui (and `commonsense approach' would suggest that the house is on firm foundations and surroundings do not have soil erosion or protected from soil erosion. At a hill, it is best that there should be `forestation' or plants especially if the house is the top most house. Other than that, it is difficult for me to comment further. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Trying our relationship together - good match?
Dear Ruby, Based on Chinese Astrology, the following is a brief information:- 22 Jan 1947 to 9 Feb 1948 Fire-Pig: 1887, 1947 With the fire element, this pig is more ambitious, energetic, domineering and courages. Is generous, tolerant but is more self-centred. Is more willing to take up new challenges and can be successful but if failure sets in will be a broken wreck. This pig has fixed ideas and more obstinate and will not easily give in to other's opinion. 10 Feb 1948 to 28 Jan 1949 Earth-Rat: 1888, 1948 Is pramatic, honest and family oriented. Is self centre and has trouble dealing with others although he is soft spoken. Is self centred but has lots of determinated. Is romantic and loving with a strong sense of reality of life. This rat takes few risks as they are more cautious Compatibility:- The Rat and Pig has to be more understanding and tolerant with each other. You can check out http://www.lovesigns.net At this site, you can find which Chinese animal sign you are and from there, check the compatiblity of both parties. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Why Pearl and things made of pearl popular among
Dear Anon, 1. Pearls signify pure and precious. 2. Chinese learned to cultivate pearls long before the Japanese cultivated them. 3. Chinese associate `tears' as beads of small pearls and it is common to place a pearl in the mouth of a dead person. 4. If one has seen mother-of-pearl inlay in an antique furniture, one will be amazed by the `glitter' of the inlay. It is like ebony and ivory, where the ivory gleams and `glows' in different shapes. Simply lovely! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Do we use one or two string of coins
Dear Anon, No, only one set of coins i.e. 6 coins should be placed there. (Since the report refers only to one sector but analysed using different time periods). Warmest Regards, Cecil

What is the purpose of hanging the brooms
Dear Anon, So far, I have not come across such a message in this forum. Brooms are considered inauspicious objects and should not be hung outside the main door. The only questions, I remembered users posting was when one should not sweep the floor (i.e. especially on Chinese New Year day) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Questions on Sha Chi & Devil's Gate
Dear Bless, Please see below:- In my opinion, you do not have to do anything about it. The main thing to remember is to avoid making that sector too yin or create a too yin an environment especially, e.g. having a large tree at that location etc... If it is on a hill, there should not be any impact as it is not on the same level as your window thus it will not `slice' thru the window of your house. Under the concept called `Penmanship peak', it is good to have such a tall thin structure on the right side of the window. Yes, it is good for a child to occupy such a room with the study table at the window and this tall thin structure to it's right. It is particuarly good especially if the child has the wood element. Usually, the curtains will be ok. But if you open the main door most of the time, see if you can just close one side of the window. It depends on the layout of the kitchen. Where best, it is said that the stove should face inwards (from the main entrance door). More importantly, the stove should be against a solid wall and kept a distance (with an island) from the water position. If the kitchen happens to be at the North, avoid, having it face the water position. As North represents water and the `fire' can easily be extinguished. If the kitchen is located at the South (fire element) the stove can face a water position. (to cool it). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Imbalance in the storeroon and bathroom
Dear Anon, Ideally, it is best to look at the layout chart i.e. if the outside wall is parallel to the inside wall and on the same `line' or sector, it is better to place it at the outside wall. But if the outside wall comes close to other sectors, then it is best to place it inside the toilet. If it is placed in the toilet, check the condition of the coins regularly. Or alternatively, `seal' it in a water proof plastic. Warmest Regards, Cecil
