Best location for ceramic stuff
Hi, The element of pottery is Earth because it is made of `earth' or originate from the earth. Yes NE and SW are considered the Earth element. Therefore, some books ask that one place pieces of pottery at these locations. However, one can say that this is a " novice " method of looking at placement of objects in the home. Most authors will usually ask one to place water at the North or Wood at the East. Looking at it, I believe, this is very basic Feng Shui that should not be applied if you are using advanced theories especially the Flying Star. You should like what you have mentioned, look at using the Flying Star rather than such a very general theory. With a " 5 " you should thus try to avoid increasing it with more `earth element. Warmest Regards, Cecil

What is the meaning behind the 3 legged toad
Dear Bill, Please see below:- The three legged toad (gold or wood) is a commercial product. Many sellers sell it on the basis that they belife it is suppose to `bring good luck' to the owner. There is another type of Ba Gua mirror with the Two door Gods. Again, this is said to protect against evil spirits. It is usually used by some practising Feng Shui practioners (with links to their personal religion) e.g. Taoism and they themselves believe that their clients should place these Ba Gua above their doors. From what I understand, if you are talking about the First Heaven Sequence Ba Kua, it is said to be originated by the ancient Chinese sage King called Fuxi. Some call it God because they think that it derived from the Heaven i.e. the formation of the Ba Gua. A sample of the First Heaven Sequence Ba Gua can be found at: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/pakua.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Can one place a globe in the bedroom
Hi, 1. Basically, best to avoid sharp objects as this can create poision arrows ( or knives) that may be pointed to the bed or the study table. 2. For other objects such as a globe, it is acceptable. In real life, we would like to surround our homes with decorations and this is perfectly ok. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Death, Disaster lines for child's room
Dear Chris, 1. In addition to looking the Eight House of your child, do remember to see that especially the location of the bed is in a `good' position. For example, it should not be seen directly from the bedroom door or the headrest of the bed is at the window. There are some materials on this at http://www.geomancy.net/fs/theory.htm 2. Avoid overhead beams and any poison arrows such as sharp corners pointing to any part of the bed. 3. You mentioned that the death or disaster lines are `almost' in the middle of the rooms. There is a really not much you can do. Where possible, let them sleep closer to a more `favourable' intangible force. Under the Eight House Theory, unfortunately, you cannot do much than to `move' further away from these inauspicious intangible force. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Roof garden
Hi, This is different from having a roof over a landed property. Here, if you are using e.g. blue tiles, the impact is on your house. But if you are living in a Hi-rise building, with a miniature fountain, this will not impact on your apartment. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Feng shui for cars
Hi, Really sorry, but currently there is no ancient written documentation on cars. I think this is quite obvious as cars were not invented then. The only aspect is on whether it is auspicious to travel towards a specific location. If you are moving around your city or community, then this most likely cannot apply. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Swimming pool at West location too Yin?
Hi, As the water position is outside the house care must be taken to see where it is located. Here, you should apply the Four Symbolic Animals Concept in the position of the pool. This is where:- 1. Do not have water behind the house. 2. Best is that it is infront of the house. Here, you will understand that there is little relevance to the actual compass direction. The above Shapes and Form concept is very important. In the above situation, the actual compass location is of secondary importance e.g. True cardinal point at the West. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Display Item for Weak Earth
Dear Jason, Technically speaking the main influence will be based on the Eight House or East/West Group person's best direction. You can place a display item i.e. moderately. Ideally, it should be on the person rather than the location. Do watch out what you are placing on your table i.e. avoid poision arrows e.g. sharp edges pointed towards you. Another important point is the " overriding " consideration of the Four Symbolic Animals concept where your table should be against a solid object e.g. a wall. The back of the table should not be a glass panel or window. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Finding a suitable house under 8house
Dear Betty, In general:- 1. Ideally, the death or disaster intangible force should not be located at the main entrance door for the breadwinner. 2. It is not as bad for the spouse assuming that she is not the breadwinner. 3. When we use the Eight House Theory, try to look at the `global picture' i.e. not only the main entrance door but the bedrooms for each of the member of the family. Ideally, your bedroom should not have the death/disaster also. This is equally important as you are most likely to spent at least 8 hours at this location per day. Ideally, the main entrance and bedrooms should be one of the 4 auspicious intangible forces. Here, if you have children, you should also take a look at their bedrooms in relation to their " Eight House ". More importantly, the intangible force where they sleep is important. For example, if the bedroom of the child falls under the influence of the child's " longevity " this is good. Contrast this to sleeping under the influence of his " spook " area. But here his head faces his good direction. This is secondary consideration. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Location of swimming pools
Hi, Please see below:- When contemplating the placement of a swimming pool, it is crucial to consider the following important aspects: 1. The swimming pool must be assessed concerning both Shapes and Forms Feng Shui and the principles of Flying Star Feng Shui. 2. Ideally, it should be situated in front of the house; for example, when facing the main entrance and looking outward, the swimming pool should preferably be on the left side. 3. It is essential to ensure that the swimming pool does not have sharp edges directed towards the house, as this is regarded as Sha Qi or a poison arrow. 4. The design of the swimming pool should refrain from excessive curves and irregular shapes. 5. Whenever possible, the swimming pool should occupy no more than 33.3 percent of the total land area. 6. The swimming pool should not be positioned at the center of the house. 7. It is vital to recognize that the Shapes and Form School, particularly the Four Symbolic Animals Concept, takes precedence over the Flying Star Theory. 8. Ideally, the house should have a solid backing, as having water behind the house is extremely unfavorable, even with a positive Flying Star reading. 8.1. A Flying Star reading can be performed for each house; however, it is ineffective unless it is combined with the Shapes and Form theory. No Feng Shui theory should be applied in isolation. 9. Furthermore, the Eight House Theory can be employed to identify or avoid houses situated on death or disaster lines, which indicates unsuitability for the owner, regardless of a favorable Flying Star assessment. 10. When applying Feng Shui, it is recommended to integrate each individual theory to ensure optimal outcomes. 10.1. Avoid practicing Feng Shui in isolation, such as relying solely on the Flying Star Theory, as some Western Traditional Feng Shui Schools do, as this method is comparable to living in isolation. It is ok to install the fountain as it means that there is a clear space at the frontage of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Water Heater at the Center of the House
Dear Judith, Thank you for your detailed description. Frankly, there is not much you can do here. You can on your own, try to use the Shapes and Form School in relation to the surrounding of the house i.e. to make it Feng Shui friendly. Although it is a water heater, what I feel is that you need not worry unduly on this as it is encased / enclosed and lets hope for the best. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Appliances destroying my prosperity and longavity line
Hi, This is not a real issue because under the Eight House Theory, one aspect is that it is advantages or good to have the `kitchen' location where the spouse or " woman " of the house have the good intangible force in that sector despite whether there is a oven or a microwave in the location. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Stairs in the middle of the house
Dear Viviana, Hope you can elaborate what you mean by "carrier zone." Are you refering to " Career ". Presently, there is no known effective cures for a staircase at the centre of the house. You may consider:- 1. One or two potted plants at the ground level. 2. This is optional and you may need to monitor but one can place a mirror a the staircase landing. (This is a traditional `cure'). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Murals on the ceiling
Hi, It is ok to have marble on the floor. Murals for decoration are fine. Provided it is not a water scenery covering the entire mural or of `hungry', prowling animals. It is quite uncommon in most regions to have murals on the ceiling. Frankly it is also new to me so at this point unable to comment further. Warmest Regards, CEcil

What is the significance of mountain star and water star
Hi, Please see below:- It is explained in the website. Perhaps, do a SEARCH either in the forum or at http://www.geomancy.com Water star is automatically activated if there is a clear space at the location. For example, immediatley outside the main entrance, you should have a clear space. Alternatively, if it is the living room, for example, the `centre' portion should have clear or flat space. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Can we keep a fish tank in the death sector
Hi, The Eight House Theory applies to a person's auspicious sector and direction. It cannot `determine' if one can place a fish tank at the location. If the purpose is to `drown' the death sector then this is wrong. The Eight House cannot be used to analyse a situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Tips for a studio apartment
Dear Anna, Sorry for the delay in reply. In general, if you have a small studio apartment, you can do the following:- 1. You can still use the Eight House Theory and divide your house into eight sectors. 2. Try to proritise or place your bed to confirm under the Shapes and Form School i.e. avoid having it facing the door a toilet etc... 3. See whether your bed can fall within one of the 4 auspicious sectors of your house. Once you have arranged your bed, then the rest of the `furniture' will fit in naturally. Where possible, use your instincts and place them where you like. For the worktable, place it against a wall. If you do a SEARCH in this forum for "studio " you most likely will find quite alot of advise given previously on the Studio Apartment. An octagon shape, although not ideal is still acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Does playing 3 coins improve your wealth?
Dear Dekay, A Warm Welcome to the Forum. This is symbolic of " stepping on Gold ". Try to get the Chinese coins or copper coins i.e. those that look like `gold'. However, this is a very general concept. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Cannot sleep well, Help
Dear Ber, As Joe correctly pointed out where best, try to avoid mirrors especially large ones in the house. 1. Mirrors are of the YIN element. 2. Mirrors located at a " wrong " location can bounce back twice the bad luck. 3. It is common for the Cantonese (A dialect group of the Chinese) to install a large mirror in the dinning room in the hope that it will bring them auspiciousness. But as I mentioned above, becareful where you install it. 4. It is not advisable to have a mirror in one room, `shine' towards another room as we do not know what we are bouncing unless one does a Flying Star chart to analyse further. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Staircase and toilet in center of house
Dear Randy, Please see below:- Frankly, there is no known effective cures for this. For the toilet:- 1.The best you can do is to keep it bright and dry and close the door when not in use. 2.Avoid placing any mirrors close to the centrepoint of the house as it will a disturbance of Qi as light is deflected. The Eight House cannot be used to determine or analyse in detail. Under the Eight House, the only best thing to do is to sleep closer to e.g. the Prosperity line. This takes second or third priority to Shapes and Form with regards to the bedroom. For example, try not to have the bed facing the bedroom door. The proper tool to analyse a house is using the Flying Star. For the main door, priority should be given for it to face a good direction. Here, if it faces your Excellent location, for example this is good. Usually, when your main door faces a good direction, usually this is also a good sector unless your door is `slanted' at a large degree to another direction. Yes, I agree with you in this situation. As we cannot buy a perfect house, we can try to minimize buying a really " bad " house e.g. full of missing corners or toilets in the wrong locations. We should bear in mind that if a house chart is considered " auspicious ", however, if its shape and form is really bad e.g. toilet above the main entrance, blue roof etc... This is bad. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Working in old hospital
Dear Toni, Thanks for your prompt reply. Since the religion is predominantly Christian, in general, even if there are spirits, usually they are quite harmless. First of all, avoid any metallic wind chimes or any metallic fliers or anything that makes metallic sound. Keep the room bright and introduce a more Yang environment:- 1. In terms of interior decor, use bright colours. Avoid dark colours. 2. Avoid having ceramic vases or any display items e.g. wood scuptures etc... 3. It is good if the office can have some music e.g. soothing sounds or even tune in to offical radio channels to increase the Yang element. 4. Ideally, your partner element strength should be " Strong " and not weak. If weak, may need compensation to increase the strength. A person of `weak wood' may need some control or help to increase the wood element particularly in a Yin environment. As I do not have more detailed information of your partner's element and strength, I am unable to comment further i.e. the strongest Yang environment for your partner's office is in the range of Red .... Pink... Purple. But not sure if there is any impact on his element and strength. For example, if he is a weak fire, ideally he can introduce pink, red or purple in his environment. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Planting Xiu Liu Hua and Guan Yin Bamboo
Dear Ber, In general, it is OK to plant a few pot of plants. For plants that flower, after you place the plant do " monitor " the plant to see if it flowers. If it does, generally, this is auspicious. Potted plants are quite safe:- 1. If you do not have many but a few e.g. two or three is acceptable. 2. In a pot, they cannot grow `wildy' or grow too large. This is good. 3. Bamboo plants are acceptable also. Again in a very general sense, if you have a few pot of plants placed moderately, this is OK. 4. Do not plant them directly `cutting' the main entrance door is fine. Placing them around the house is OK. At the West, avoid large trees or untrimmed trees that can grow like a jungle. I had mentioned that too many trees create a too yin environment and try to avoid it at the West location. Warmest Regards, Cecil Pomegranate is actually "Xiu Liu Hua" or "Xia Liu Hua" pronounced in Hokkien.

Dear Toni, Before I comment further, can you let me know the following information:- 1. Which country it is? 2. What is the predominant religion in your country. 3. What is the predominant religion (in general) of the hospital. (It is the same as 2? 4. What is the religion (if any) of your friend. 5. What is the company dealing with. 6. Is the morgue nearby his present office. 7. What was the office used for previously? Is it a ward or a hospital office. 8. Is there a graveyard next to the hospital. Thanks. Cecil
