  1. Dear Cecil, Thanks for your reply. Would like to clarify some things: * The trees planted have about 8-10 ft. distance between them. Also, I planted them in the first place because there was way too much sunlight coming in and the rooms facing that side used to get very hot. These trees also do not have dense foliage. Is it still a problem area? Before planting them, do not think I slept any better. Then all that desolate muddy space used to bother me. * The plants inside the halls are small plants - money plants, spiders - in small containers. The bigger plants are outside the hall windows on the ledge. * About the water bodies, if you mean bathrooms, etc., I have tried to put down approx. where each is below: * Adjoining my bedroom, is the bathroom. Next to it is the toilet. Both open out into the kitchen. Sink in the west corner of this kitchen. This is Flat 101. * Similar layout of bathroom and toilet in Flat 102. In line with toilet door, along wall, is fridge; next to it filter and vessels with drinking water on a wrought iron stand. Main entrance: Door of Flat 102 which faces NE. Building entrance is more N/NW oriented. If you could please advise on the above. You had asked about my birthdate and time: My birth date is 3.6.1962 Thanks and regards, Anon
  2. Dear Cecil, A VERY HAPPY & PROSPEROUS 2000 TO YOU! I like the new look of the site, very colourful and bold, except at times it is slower to download. I am going to bug you about a query I had posted on Dec. 9, 99 under the topic 'House does not feel right'. I have re-posted the query and your replies below. You had asked for my birth date and time. I had posted the same with more details about the house, but I'm not sure whether you got it, because there has been no reply from you. My detailed reply to your query is below. If you could please have a look and advise. I have been trying very hard to overcome those funny feelings I get. Overall, I feel better, yet I still have problems getting to sleep at night. Thanks and regards, Anon Dear Cecil, Thanks so much for your replies. It makes me feel much better, specially because I felt a bit silly about the whole thing. As regards your queries, I am posting a few details here: * A little about this house: It consists of two flats side by side on the first floor. Each has a hall, kitchen and a bedroom. The flat numbers are 101 and 102. The main entrance is the door of flat 102, which is NE facing. A numerologist we know advised us to keep the NE direction because as per Hindu astrology, it is auspicious. He also said the number ?102?which adds up to a 3 is not good and so asked us to write it as ?102B? for a more favourable number 5. (Actually the original nos. were 103 and 104. Would it have been o.k. to buy a no.4 house? We had our reservations about it at that time. Then the builder changed his design and the numbers also changed) * In the wall dividing the two flats, in the hall, we have made a small door. Along this wall, as per the 8 house theory, I have the death line. Do I need to put up a picture of any God on the wall to neutralise its effect? * In between the two kitchens, we have taken out the dividing wall to allow free passage between the two flats. The toilet and bathroom in both flats face the open kitchen area. We keep the toilet and bathroom doors always shut as far as possible. We have extended the kitchen platform in flat 101 so that the gas stove faces SE. The fridge, filter and drinking water vessels are next to each other, on the N-NE wall of the other kitchen. * We have a lot of plants at home, but only in the halls and their window sills. None in the bedrooms. Is keeping a plant or two outside the main door for aesthetics okay? * Outside my bedroom (which is facing SE-S), there is a huge open ground. Just to have some greenery, I went and planted about 11 trees in a row from one end of the building to the other end. The trees are 15ft. away from the building. It?s been a year and a half now and the trees are growing well. The ones in front of my window, a karanj and a neem, are about 6ft high. * We have two wardrobe mirrors, but I keep them covered at bedtime. The hand mirror is always kept face down. I love collecting shells and have a boxful of them atop one cupboard. There are other shell decorated holders and paperweights too. Anything to this, ?cause I was told once that such stuff should not be kept in the house. * My birth date is 3.6.1962 and time and day is 7.15 am, Sunday. My sister is elder to me. * Noticed an odd thing - I get these funny feelings more strongly in the central area of the house - where the 2 kitchens, the toilets and bathrooms are, and even with a night light on. No matter how much I try to be in control, many times I restrict my movements in this area at night. But when I was sitting in the front room watching TV with my back to this area, I did not feel a thing. But, when sleeping, I can see a part of this area from my bed, and I tend to get tense, keep awake and staring as if lot of invisible things are moving out there. Then is it all just a trick of the mind? Well, that?s a whole lot of stuff I am posting. So please bear with me. Thanks a lot, Regards, Anon

  4. Dear Cecil, I stay with my sister and parents in a NE house. As per the 8 house theory, the house is okay for them, except for me - mine should be a SE facing house. It's been a year since we shifted into this house. The previous house we stayed in was also a NE house. There's something that bothers me and I wonder if feng shui could help in some way. As opposed to my very practical parents and sister, I have always been a sensitive sort. I get lots of intuitive hunches, get 'feelings and vibes' about people and places, etc. Lots of times, I get this very spooky feeling, as if someone is next to me and involuntarily turn around to look. Lots of times this happens after twilight. At night, I keep a night light on, but still find myself sleeping fitfully. I am afraid I might almost conjure up something . At first I thought it was an overactive imagination, but there's been too many times that I have experienced these 'hair-stands-on-end' feelings. And to make it worse, I saw this new movie 'The Sixth Sense', which is making me feel even more spooked, even in daylight. Maybe here it's just my fevered brain at work, maybe not!. The funny part is that I have experienced these only in my own houses! I have slept over in my friend's place, even walked down a dark corridor to reach another room and I have been perfectly okay. So this psyches me all the more. Maybe with all this, I should be seeing a psychiatrist , but am curious to know if feng shui has any clues? Thanks, Regards, Anon
  5. Dear Cecil, Thanks so much for your detailed reply. But I must bother you for some more clarifications. I have a lot of questions, but if it is not too much trouble, will you please answer all of them? You mentioned that it is good to have the head rest against a wall. Since I sleep on a mattress on the floor, would it help to pull it up against the SE wall - there is a big window on this wall which I keep open, but would this be fine? On the south side, there is space between two cupboards. I would have to change their placement around a bit such that the smaller one faces me and the taller one has its side to me. Is this okay?? My mom sleeps on a cot to the right of my bed. When she sleeps, her feet point towards the open window. The bed has no headrest, so we have pulled up a table on the head side for support. Any suggestions? Cecil, you had mentioned in one of your replies that one should not try to do too much feng shui. But then what about all the things about too much yin, yang, elements, etc.? For example, I might place something somewhere solely going by aesthetics, what I intuitively feel, but if that is causing an unconscious irritation, how do I know? Could you help or will Glyn help me make out a correct report for the elements and how to apply it? Also, there is an Indian science of placement called Vastushastra. You've heard about it? A lot of it seems very different from feng shui. In vastu, all the north directions are considered positive and all the south directions negative. So it advises that the storeroom, cupboards should be kept towards the south and the north should be kept free. If both feng shui and vastu are applied, won?t it clash? In my initial enthusiasm, I went and bought a book on feng shui by Sarah Shurety of the Lucky Feng Shui Co, London. She confidently and freely advocates using chimes, crystals, plants, colours, use a steel sink, etc. But you discourage most of it. Does this book have any merit or is none of it proper feng shui? Please advise. With thanks and regards, Sudha
  6. Dear Cecil, Thanks for your message. I am giving some more details as there were some other clarifications I needed. I have checked out the eight house theory. Mine is a south east house. I live in a north east house. Accordingly, in the bedroom I sleep in, I get my health line. I sleep on the floor, and the foot of my bed is near my health line. Is this the correct way? My bed is almost in the middle of the room. I do not have much room to manouevre, because against the south wall are three cupboards. My head position is presently south east. The wall is some feet away behind my head. Halfway up in it is a big window with sliding glass panes. I keep it partly open at night for fresh air. When sleeping, I can also see the bedroom door and through it into the kitchen. I use a night light, yet sometimes I come awake and then have trouble getting back to sleep because I end up watching the door or looking over my head at the window and feeling slightly uneasy. Other times, it does not affect me. In the daytime, it does not affect me at all. Anything to do with my sleeping position, the cupboards, etc? You've said that the dragon is to the East but show it on the left of the house. So this East is not as in the direction, East? Because in my case, the east comes to the right of my house. Also, where does one put the shoes/slippers one uses everyday as well as the new/sometimes used ones? Does one follow the bagua and keep it in a particular place? Or where the bad intangible lines come in? Please do clarify. With thanks and regards, Sudha
  7. Dear Cecil, Kudos on a great site! Need a clarification about the best sleeping direction. My bedroom is towards the southeast-south. Currently, I sleep with my head to the southeast. If I have to change, the only other direction I can put my head would be kind of southwest or almost west. I am a south east person living in a north east facing house. I feel most comfortable in this bedroom. Looking forward to your advice, Thanks, Suda
  8. Dear Cecil, First of all, thanks for creating this very informative site. I have been reading it up with great interest. I am trying out the eight house plan, except I am totally spaced out trying to apply it. We live in a house with main door facing NE. We both sisters earn, but my elder sister is the one who handles all the cheques, etc. So I am treating her as main breadwinner. now the NE facing house suits my sister and parents, but according to the eight house theory, mine is a South East house. So all their good lines are my bad lines and vice versa! . So how do I tackle these: 1. For me, the Death line comes thru' the wall from which the main door opens out. Will keeping a statue of a Hindu deity behind the main door help? 2. In the living room, we have the TV in the east corner. It takes care of the Irritation line of my family, but the same is the Longevity line for me. What other cure can be applied? 3. The Death line for them goes thru' the wall dividing the toilet and bathroom. There is also a geyser on the bathroom wall. The same is my Excellent line. How to tackle this? 4. Also,I tried out a basic pillars of destiny report which termed me and my sister as weak Water Tigers. How then do we strengthen this element - with Metal and Wood? Please reply in as detail as possible. Thanks, Sudha Moorthy
