  1. Dear Cecil/Robert, Before anything else, i think you have the most sophisticated feng shui website out there in terms of content and capabilities... I have just run the flying star report on our townhouse (being built) 1)I have decided to use the garage door's orientation (45') since that is on the frontage of the house and faces the street. The builder unfortunately changed the orientation of the structures and our main door is now in a detrimental direction (SE) for both my husband and I (both West group people). My rationale for this a) is the garage is underneath our living/dining room thus is included in calculating the center of the floor b)we will use this 90% of the time to get out of the house c) my husband is a certified car nut and will undoubtedly consider the garage an active living space. Hope using the garage door's orientation is ok? 2)I would also like to understand some of the findings: a) NW 8(base) and 1(yearly). Why is this considered auspicious when earth destroys water? is there no need to transform destructive to productive cycle? b) when do we use a destructive vs reductive element as a remedy? Example: NW 5(Mtn) vs 9 (Water), the recommendation is to use wood to destroy 5 earth whereas in N 3(base) vs. 5 (yearly), the recommendation is to use fire to weaken wood--why not metal to destroy it? 3) Finally, i also have the pillars of destiny reports for both my husband and I (we are both strong earth according to your v.8 beta). How do i link this with the flying star report? Is it correct to interpret that if any of the flying star recommendations introduce an element detrimental to our personal elements (e.g. fire, earth), we should look to other ways to correcting this sector? Thanks Jocelyn
  2. Dear Cecil In your reply to Ber, you recommended avoiding metal chimes in nw and w ... why is that? thanks Jocelny
  3. Dear Cecil, Thanks for your quick reply. On my first question--the reason i said mine was a SW house was because I've also read some theories (Lilian Too, etc.) that the type of house is determined by its sitting position (e.g. direction you face as you go into the house from the main door). In my case, I have 2 doors into the house. The door from the garage into the main house faces NE (if I measure from inside of house, looking out) but its sitting position then is SW (if I measure from out of house going in). The other main door faces NW (from center to outside) therefore its sitting position then is SE. I guess bottom line question is do i need to worry about the sitting position of the house--if not, I'm ok since NE or NW are good directions for myself & my husband. If yes, then, I should just use NE entrance since sitting position SW is favorable. For my second question, the kitchen range is against a solid wall. However, I've also read from Lilian Too that the direction of the fire mouth (direction of energy flowing into range) is very important. The energy should not flow from an inauspicious direction (e.g. S, SE, E, N for me & husband). Thanks Jocelyn
  4. Dear Cecil & Robert I would like to understand how to interpret the different schools of thought for feng shui. For example, there is one school of thought that does not look at individual auspicious directions but assigns a sector for each direction--e.g. north for career, southeast for wealth, etc. If I want to excel or get rich, I'm supposed to place something in these sectors to enhance them. However in the 8 house/pakua/loshu school of thought, I am a West person. The directions north & southeast are not auspicious for me therefore I need to locate such things as toilets or kitchens there. Will this affect my career and wealth? If I do have toilets or kitchens in these sectors, do i need to enhance them for career & wealth? thanks jocelyn
  5. My husband and I have put a deposit on an attached townhouse. This is still very much in pre-construction phase; however, the builder is very unwilling to deviate from the plans. I have 2 questions: 1) Orientation of the house. The garage door facing the street is NE (as measured from center). The main entrance is on the side of the building and faces NW. This does not face the street but the main entrance of the other townhouse. Would it be correct to say this is a SW house? 2) I've looked at the layout and it seems fine except for the kitchen range. The kitchen is located in the S/SE sector which is ok since both my husband and I are West type people; however, the fire mouth of the kitchen range faces S/SE. I cannot change the orientation of the range. Is there anything else I can do? I do have a rice cooker whose fire mouth I can orient to an appropriate direction. Will this do? Jocelyn
