"The common name of this plant: Lipstick Palm, Maharajah Palm, Sealing Wax Palm and Pinang Rajah.

The terms Maharajah and Rajah denotes "royalty" in Malay.

This is one of the most popular plants, planted in a landed property especially at the front fencing area - as it is very good at camouflage or provide a nice screen 'privacy' screen for a home.

And because it's stem (trunk) is red in colour; red at the frontage of a Chinese home symbolises auspiciousness.

Family name: Palmae

Synonyms: C. lakka
Origin of this plant: South East Asia"

PS: I had to create a new thread as the link above already have lots of photos on this plant and with more pictures.. will take time to download all.

1. All these photos were taken on just one single private housing estate road i.e. Lorong H Telok Kuaru.

2. As the Lipstick palm has partial reddish canes; Chinese like RED as it signifies auspicious connotation.

3. Every one of these picture shows the Lipstick palm or also known as "majestic" Maharajah Palm. The Indian word for Maharajah is royalty!
