myfs_147065
Hi,There is currently a huge oak tree 30ft+ in the back. It's more like two trees, it forms a V shape, it starts with one but splits into two. It's not in our property, but there is a wooden fence directly in front of the tree and then our backyard. When we stand at the silding door inside, it's directly in front. So is this a problem or is it a good thing? I heard having a tree in the back is good support, but then again a tree slicing directly through a door or window is bad.
Staff Cecil Lee Posted November 17, 2010 Staff Share Posted November 17, 2010 These are some considerations:1. As you had mentioned, the oak tree is not in your property. 2. However, it becomes a threat only when e.g. standing inside the home (at an opening) e.g. such as an open window and /or main door and if one can see the trunk of the oak tree slicing towards such openings then this is considered as a poison arrow or sha qi. Thus this is considered as a threat.3. The concept that if it cannot be seen, it no longer becomes a threat applies. Thus simple things like installing a blind or a day curtain may help to "blur" out the offending "object".4. One of the "secret" weapons in Feng Shui are birds chirping around. Thus, some trees help to attract birds.5. Another consideration is that a large tree often casts a huge shadow below the tree. And in land scare countries; like Singapore, where some homes have a small compound, such a huge tree makes the home look very yin or dark. And often it can pose a nuisance to neighbours as the tree sometimes extend towards neighbour's homes.
