Guest
There is a set of stairs connecting the upstairs to the down that are located in the center of the home. The steps end directly in front of our back door at the bottom and at the top, the end directly in front of my son's bedroom. What can I do for a situation like this?Thank youCarrie
Staff Cecil Lee Posted November 16, 1999 Staff Share Posted November 16, 1999 Dear Carrie, 1. Ideally, a staircase ought to feature a turning or landing. If I am not mistaken, I observed a straight staircase in one of the layout plans shared in "Audit for Financial/Hardship Cases Only). 2. Should there be a landing on the staircase, some Feng Shui Masters recommend placing a mirror at the landing to deflect Qi upwards. This is optional and not mandatory. 3. Ideally, the stairs should not be positioned at the center of the house. If it is unavoidable, consider placing potted plants at ground level on each side of the stairway. If the stairs are attached to one wall, a plant can be positioned on one side. This is also not obligatory, as some Feng Shui practitioners believe it helps regulate the flow of Qi for stairs located at the center of the house. For further information on stairs, you can visit this link: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/stairs.htm. More importantly, if the stairs are directly visible from the main entrance, it is advisable to place a screen between the main entrance door and the staircase. A potted plant can be positioned beside the stairs, but this is not compulsory. Staff Cecil Lee Posted March 9, 2021 Staff Share Posted March 9, 2021 Gd morning! Exploring one more idea. Is it advisable to have the stairs in living hall designed this way rather than L-shape? Is a set of straight staircase inauspicious? Blame this on Feng Shui! Feng Shui’s preference for the regular turn. As some say qi can meander upstairs. Actually this is a poor FS excuse. With a landing... if someone slips and fall, at least there is a break. Here, good luck! If some falls... and elderly also don’t have a rest stop
