Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Not to long ago; even in the 1930's to as late as 1960's; a marriage broker may recommend a wife.
And sometimes, the potential (rich) parents-in-law; would want to know what theyare "purchasing" for their son.
More importantly, the girl would be asked to stand-up. And in particular; the bride-to-be's mother-in-law would inspect the girl's features.
She would start to look at the legs andknees for any "deformaties" or "irregularities"and at the ball joint area. She will then look at the girl's hip and facial features. Howis the girl's nose? sharp or flat shaped; ears; cheeks: high or low.
All for the sake that if her son were to marry the girl; her future grand children would not look ugly (assuming that in the first place; her son is a perfect specimen, himself)...
The saying goes: Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder... This attached photos = figurine is considered "prosperous" and in some societies viewed as excellent ... as it implies a good visible healty reproduction system as this girl has large hips...
