Lizbeth
Could you just clarify a couple of points for me? I am new to FS. Referring to the Eight-House Chart, and The Eight-Associate Directions Chart. The Eight-House Chart gives 4 good directions, which includes Prosperity, and Health. Mine are: South/Prosperity, North/Health, SouthEast/ Longevity, East/ Excellent. Do these areas apply purely to the direction you personally move around in, or are they also specific to curtain areas of your home. (I.e. If the 8 House Chart says, South equals Prosperity, and the 8 Associations Directions Chart say South/East equals Prosperity, which area of the house is the prosperity area of my home? I am a little confused between the application of the two charts. I realise the Flying Star delves deeper into the significance of the home.
Staff Cecil Lee Posted December 8, 1999 Staff Share Posted December 8, 1999 Dear Anon, 1. For the Eight House Template, consider these three main uses: 1.1 To find out if a house is suitable for you. If the “death” or “disaster” line passes through the main door, then according to Eight House Theory, the house is not suitable for you. 1.2 To check which unseen force is affecting your bedroom. 1.3 At work, this theory helps guide you to the best direction to face. These are the main uses of Eight House Theory. Besides these, it has some serious limits. It cannot be used as a cure because it does not use the Five Elements concept. Unlike the Flying Star method, which can find imbalances using the Five Elements and help fix these problems. However, Flying Star is not perfect either. It creates a birth chart of the house. Even if the chart shows good results, the house may not suit everyone. Here, Eight House Theory helps check if the house matches the person. Pillars of Destiny, like knowing if someone is a Strong Fire person, can be used together with Flying Star to better find cures. All these methods should not be used alone. The Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui is needed too, to check the environment, such as if having water behind the house is bad. 1.4 The Eight Associations or Life Aspirations are based on how each Gua is interpreted and what it means. This is really basic Feng Shui. It only shows the relationship of each sector. Eight House Theory is personalized for each person, using their birth year chart. But the Eight Associations are not personalized—they’re for everyone. If you want to use them, do it only after finishing other Feng Shui checks like Flying Star and Eight House. If you have extra time, then you can use Eight Associations. The Eight Associations appear in the free Eight House report because they are a valid Feng Shui way to see Gua numbers, but we also include a warning. Many people in the West find it easy to draw trigrams and use Eight Associations or Fixed Template methods. This makes Feng Shui look bad. Staff Cecil Lee Posted 5 hours ago Staff Share Posted 5 hours ago Summary The Eight House Theory in Feng Shui is mainly used to assess house suitability, bedroom influences, and best work direction, but has major limitations and should be complemented by other methods; the Eight Associations are overly simple and not personalized. Key Takeaways - The Eight House Theory helps determine if a house suits an individual, bedroom influences, and optimal work direction. - Its main limitation is it cannot provide cures and lacks connection with the Five Element concept, unlike Flying Star Feng Shui. - Flying Star produces a house birth chart and must be combined with other assessments for personalized cures. - The Shapes and Form School is important for environmental analysis in Feng Shui. - The Eight Associations (Life Aspirations) are general, not personalized, and should only be used after more detailed audits. - Over-reliance on simplified methods, like the Eight Associations, often results in poor Feng Shui practices.
