The major changes would be the Whampoa River leading to Kallang River would be a wonderful sight, then. Government Street map of 1954. A = Boon Keng MRT B = Bendemeer House demolished. Today HDB Bendemeer Ville C = Kallang Communit Centre D = Industrial: Micron Semiconductor Asia, Chubb, Essilor Building, Ingram Micro Asia, Lion Building, Million Lighting, Stamford Press Centre etc.. E = Kwoong Wai Shiu Hospital & Nursing Home. No change since the 1950's. F = HDB DBSS City View @ Boon Keng. Petaling Road, Idris Road except Kempas Road still around. G = HDB Bendemeer Light H = Ceylong Sports Club since the 1950's or earlier J = Singapore Indian Association since the 1950's or earlier K = Chinese Recreation Club. YMCA moved to Orchard Road M = Griffiths School no more N = Bajerai Lane & Serangoon Road PO no more. Today is the Central Sikh Temple. P = No more McNair School. Private apartments, today. Q = No more Whampoa School, here. R = No more Balestier Girls School, here. S = HDB St. George's Tower. expected TOP Jan 2019 T = Eight River Suites U = Bendemeer Primary School V = Elim Church since the 1950's W = Jui Residences. expected TOP in Dec 2022 X = Lian Sian Shuang Lin Monastery. Formerly Siang Lim See Buddhist Temple. The small Chinese Temple beside it is still there since 1950's. Today this small temple is called Shuang Lin Cheng Huang.
