Common rice bird who used to feed at paddy fields

The Singapore local version has a dull light to dark brown colour. Part of the sparrow species.

Once captured will usually bite it’s tongue. Thus will never ever see them in captivity.

Often goes in a pair.

In many other countries, they can be in yellow, bluish etc...

Hokkiens called it: “ceck Kar Chiao” which literally means rice bird.
