JC23
I have searched everywhere online and can not find a good blog post about grand pianos and Feng Shui. Which Feng Shui element(s) do grand pianos represent? Is it water because it’s black/plays music or is it wood Because that’s what it is made of or something else? Any best places and worst places to have a piano? thanks!
Staff Cecil Lee Posted June 5, 2020 Staff Share Posted June 5, 2020 1. It’s completely understandable that you haven’t found much about grand pianos and Feng Shui, but just remember that not everything has to be linked to Feng Shui. 2. What’s really going on here is more closely connected to Number 3: Human or Man Luck, as shown below. 3.1. Feng Shui mainly focuses on how the surrounding landscape is arranged and how qi flows. When it comes to the interior of a home, it pays special attention to where the main door, stairs, kitchen, and bedrooms are located. 3.2. The Holy Trinity of the Chinese Luck System includes Human Luck. What is the Holy Trinity of the Chinese Luck System: Human or Man Luck? 4. It’s common knowledge that most grand pianos are black, mainly because it’s more cost-effective to produce them in a solid jet-black finish. A piano has a large surface area and uses a lot of wood, so it can be challenging to find and match enough pieces of wood for a consistent look. Black also works well in concert settings because it doesn’t distract from the performer, and it pairs beautifully with the ebony and ivory keys. 5. Besides black, grand pianos also come in white, natural wood finishes like walnut, and even fun, unconventional colors such as pink. The color of the piano doesn’t really affect its quality or how well it plays. 6. Having a grand piano usually means it’s placed in a prominent spot, which actually fits nicely with Feng Shui ideas that favor open, spacious areas. Of course, this doesn’t mean you’re expected to sleep on your grand piano or hug its three legs before going to bed. 7. In Feng Shui, a piano is simply treated as a piece of furniture, though it’s definitely less common than a sofa, coffee table, or bar counter. 8. The fact that a grand piano is mostly made of wood or covered in lacquer, with metal parts inside, doesn’t play a major role in determining its Feng Shui positioning. 9. What matters more than the materials is the symbolism of owning a grand piano, much like how some people feel a sense of joy and fulfillment from owning luxury cars like Ferraris or Porsches. 10. Having a grand piano at home can say a lot about the person or family who owns it and can make quite a strong impression. 11. For people who compose music, they may be linked to the Wood element in Feng Shui practice. 12. When someone plays music, that activity can be associated with the Water element. 13. Isn’t it wonderful and auspicious for a family’s good fortune when someone in the household plays beautiful music? 14. Think about it: how many people do you know who have a home with a grand piano? Naturally, there’s a real sense of pride in owning such an instrument. 15. Now imagine this lighthearted scenario: you go and tell these famous musicians (Alfred Brendel, Arthur Rubinstein, Clara Schumann, Frédéric Chopin, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) that, according to Feng Shui, they’re not allowed to keep a grand piano in their homes! Go ahead and share that with them… LOL… 16. How different would the world be without the incredible musical works created by certain gifted individuals? 17. And can you imagine that some people might even feel so devastated by being told they can’t have a grand piano that they’d start to think about suicide? “SIR! According to Feng Shui, having a piano in your house is not advisable!” Chopin once said, “Music has the power to calm even the most unruly soul!” Do you see how important that is, Mr. Trump? Staff Cecil Lee Posted June 5, 2020 Staff Share Posted June 5, 2020 1. Lately, I had a client who is the owner of a studio apartment. 2. An apartment is already small. Furthermore, with a small grand piano, they must have given up storage or other amenities for the grand piano. 3. The message conveyed here is that a house is simply four walls. 4. However, what truly matters is that at least one person in the household can play the piano. +++ Here are a couple of examples showcasing my father's spontaneous piano performances. My dad on the right 5. My father falls into the same category, but he only plays by ear. He is unable to read music notes... Haha... Whenever he plays, those around him also experience a sense of joy. 8. Some individuals may not have the best luck or ideal Feng Shui, but their strong relationships and connections, whether with family, friends, or pets, serve as their secret weapon!
