Tong shu or 30 Days Free Auspicious Date, which one should I follow for moving in date.

Featured Replies

Hi Master Cecil,

Im trying to find a good date to move in, and according to online tong shu, 20th October 2025 is an auspicious day to move in.  But when I put in the 30 Days Free Auspicious Date, the main owner date for 20th is inauspicious. According to the free auspicious date calculator,  date 22nd October is a good day for all of us,  but in Tong shu, 22nd October 2025 moving date is an inauspicious day. Which one should we follow for moving in date?

As half of the family members are in school on weekdays,  should we wait for all family members to be home to do the moving in ceremony( around 3pm plus) or should main breadwinner and myself do the move in ceremony first but get all family members to sleep over?and does all family need to sleep over or only bread Winner and myself is sufficient ?

Can I move boxes of clothes and used bed/ mattresses into the new place before moving in date?

Many thanks in advance for your guidance

Regards

Ann

1.1. Please note that a general Tung Shu is not customized for any specific person. It assumes that a particular date is suitable for everyone. In reality, each individual has their own set of favorable and unfavorable dates, so a date that appears auspicious in the general Tung Shu may not be appropriate for certain people. Therefore, even when using the Tung Shu as a reference, you should always check whether the date could clash with or be unfavorable to any key participants before making a decision.

1.2. Our auspicious date report, on the other hand, is tailored to the individual. It considers the important events listed in the Tung Shu while also factoring in whether the date aligns positively or negatively with the person’s ba zi. This allows us to identify the date with the least conflict for that person. This is why our personalized report generally takes precedence over the general Tung Shu. If you are using our report, you usually do not need to consult the general Tung Shu separately. However, if you rely only on the Tung Shu, you must still confirm that the date will not cause conflicts or negative effects.

2. For a move-in ceremony, it is most important for the primary breadwinner and/or spouse to be present, as they are regarded as the key participants. For the sleepover, the entire family should spend the night together, symbolizing that you have officially moved in.

3. New furniture and appliances may be delivered and installed before the move-in date. However, old or second-hand clothes and furniture should not be brought in ahead of time, as this may create the impression that you have moved in before the official date.
