More 'Elementary' Questions

Recommended Posts

I understand that compass directions are associated with the elements also, eg. North for Water, South for Fire, and etc.
I read in some books / tips that say
1. place an aquarium at North (for career / prosperity (?))
2. place plants at East and South East (for wealth / prosperity (?))
3. place a lamp at South (for fame)
I believe that is to activate the respective corners. However, I don't understand why South (or Fire) is associated with Fame,
South East (or Wood) is with Wealth,
North (or Water) is with Career, and etc.
Isn't that too general, as it does not take into account of our personal auspicious directions (based on the Kua #)?
Thanks and regards,
Rose

Dear Rose,
What you have described is based on the Eight Aspirations or Life
Aspirations or Associations.
It is based on interpretation of each of the Eight Trigrams. As each of the
Trigrams has a direction, therefore many Feng Shui authors like to write
about it in their books.
Like you have cleverly deduced, that it is too general and does not take
into account NOT even a person's Gua number, and thus more easy for book
authors to write about.
Even the Eight House Theory takes into account our personal Gua number and
thus, it can be considered to be personalised to each of us. But the Eight
Aspirations or associations e.g. South-West = Romance or Relationship is too
general a theory to use.
I have mentioned in previous postings that only after one has done e.g.
Eight House, Flying Star or even Pillars of Destiny and after which is `too
free' or have the luxury of nothing else better to do, can at their own free
time, " enhance " these locations. But bear in mind not to `upset' any cures
or fixes done under the Eight House or Flying Star theory.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
