Dear Donna,
In my opinion, it is good (best) to check with the interior designer who is doing up the center as the colour of the wall should normally blend with the furniture in the center.
In Feng Shui, there are several colours one may opt:-
1. Green - This signifies, the east (wood element) and represents - growth or vitality.
2. Pink - This signifies, the south (Fire element) represents activity.
3. White (or pastel shades of it) - This is considered a neutral colour and can help especially if there is space constraints or if the center is rather small.
However, I must certainly emphasise still the need to check with the interior designer on their colour scheme.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

This center is 15 years old and it now has a "seafoam" green walls, floors are multi-colored tile in beiges, putties and browns. The chair at the tables are mauve. As director, Iwould like to repaint the center but would like to apply feng shui since there is a lot of friction among many of the seniors who come to visit the center. Please help me, I am truly desperate for good chi in the center.

Dear Donna,
1. Please refer to my earlier message. In general green represents growth and it is one of the recommended colours.
2. However, I personall feel that Feng Shui is not a `cure' all. It helps to enhance Qi. But in terms of human behaviour and interaction, this is more towards other disciplines such as Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny).
In your environment, since there are so many individuals, it is not practical to try to use Ba Zi as it involves many people and their `interaction/cross-interaction' with each other.
In my opinion, this is why, we often hear that once a person gets to be 18 years or especially 21 years of age, it is pretty difficult to `change' someone. It is best in your situation to try to apply other "methods" such as those studied in Universities e.g.
Organisational Behaviour (some what close to such subjects).
Wishing you all the Best!
Warmest Regards,
Cecil Lee

In Summary

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful perspective.

You’re absolutely right about the symbolism of **green** in Feng Shui—it’s widely associated with growth, renewal, and vitality. Incorporating green elements can help enhance the Qi and bring a sense of freshness to a space.

However, as you point out, Feng Shui is not a one-size-fits-all solution, especially when it comes to human behavior and interpersonal dynamics. While Feng Shui can improve the environment and potentially promote positive energy, understanding people—their motivations, responses, and interactions—often requires looking beyond environmental factors.

**Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny)** offers deeper insights into individual personalities and life tendencies, but its practical application in large groups or organizations is limited due to the complexity of analyzing so many individual charts and their interconnections.

For environments with many people, such as workplaces or community spaces, applying principles from **Organizational Behavior** is much more effective. This discipline relies on research-backed methods to understand group dynamics, leadership styles, motivation, communication patterns, and even resistance to change—especially in adults whose behaviors and personalities are more stable after early adulthood.

In Conclusion:

- **Green** is a beneficial color in Feng Shui for supporting growth and vitality in your space.
- **Feng Shui** enhances environmental Qi but cannot directly address complex human interactions or behavior.
- For understanding and managing people within large groups, **Organizational Behavior** and related fields provide practical and scalable strategies, especially as individuals become more set in their ways over time.

By integrating a harmonious environment through Feng Shui and applying organizational behavior principles, you can create both a supportive space and foster better interpersonal relationships.
