Dear Elizabeth,
In my opinion, the placemetn of e.g. family moneybox does not feature prominently in many schools of Feng Shui.'
The only school of Feng Shui which is related more towards buddhism i.e. buddhist belief of the Eight Treasures. Feng Shui practitioners with such buddhist inclination often make use of the term Eight Treasures. And in fact, they ask their clients to bury e.g. the Eight Treasures (prior) to the house being ready at the main entrance and corners of e.g. the living room.
I believe, you treasure your family moneybox and do not want to see it `buried'. As shown in the above example.
You can choose to place your family moneybox in the living room or any other locations you or your family feel `nice' about it.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
