My family is considering purchasing a house. We have looked at several houses. In the back fence side or rear of the houses we've seen, there was one which had an open field of a school and another one with a telephone pole and power line on the upper corner of the back fence. Is the open field behind the house considered a weakness (i.e. an unprotected back)? Is the telephone pole considered a 'poison arrow' and the power lines a source of 'shar chi'? What would be your advise for the objects at the rear of house?

Dear Anon,
1. If the apartment is high; i.e. if one looks out of the window and cannot see the pole; then it is not a threat.
2. Often, an apartment that is higher than 4th storey, would not have a lone lamp post slicing into it.
3. In several studies, there were no reported evidence that power lines cause `Sha qi'. - Magnetism from powerlines is unlike radiation e.g from the sun or micro-wave etc...
4. For the barren field, it is ok if it is not an entire `long stretch' e.g. streching from several miles. If the field is e.g. a small area such as one or two foot-ball field and after this, there are building complex; it is usually ok.
