I inherited my mother's condo/apartment and there are bars on the windows ( 1) living room and (1) over bedroom window and on the screen metal front door.
I"m planning on selling the unit and most of the units have protection bars because of the area. I feel very uncomfortable here what can I do to correct this issue.

Dear Anon,
Don't worry, even in a relatively safe country like Singapore, more homes have bars installed - than not.
As this is a deterent, there should not be an issue, here. Within the home, appropriate interior decor e.g. use of curtains or blinds etc... can easily off-set the ugly sight of the bars.
The morale of the story? " YOU ARE NOT ALONE WITH THIS ISSUE! ".
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
P.S. The only major concern for bars in an apartment is that often, some of these bars in a room should be able to be opened (can also be locked) in case, of a fire. The fireman should be able to cut-open the lock - as a means of escape. A fully fixed bar grille, is often not a good idea, in such a case.
