myfs_106071
Dear Master Lee: Thank you very much for your response. Attached is a sketch of the house that was shown to us. It sits on a culdesac location. Both the front door and the driveway face the culdesac (the black rectangle is the front door, the other is the driveway). It was built in 2000 and the price is reasonable. The back view is great. Would you please tell me if the house is at a bad location on the cul-de-sac and should we buy this house? Thank you very much for your advice. Very respectfully yours, pam
Staff Cecil Lee Posted September 22, 2004 Staff Share Posted September 22, 2004 Dear Pam, From your sketch: 1. The specific property is not located at the “worst” end of the cul-de-sac. 2. Picture a “knife”: its edge or blade cuts more strongly towards (especially) the property directly opposite the one mentioned in Point 1. 3. However, in a cul-de-sac, no matter where a home is, it is preferable that the main door does not face directly towards the cul-de-sac. Where possible, the main door is often placed at the side of the house or reached via a car park that leads into the home. For example, the main door might instead be on the “left side” of the home. This is to ensure that there is no “possibility” of any threats being directed at the main entrance. Besides the above, there are of course the usual things to consider, like drainage. For instance, drainage such as a large drain behind the house is not very auspicious. Also, check whether there is any lamp post “slicing” or directly facing the main door or windows.
