Colors for the bedrooms

Dear Master

I would like to know how to select the best paint colours for bedrooms. For instance, my sons' rooms are in the N and NE and my daughters' rooms are in the S and SE. What would be the best colours for their rooms.

Dear Anon,

Usually there are two ways of looking at the colour scheme of a bedroom or room:-

A simplistic view:-

This is by way of checking the family member's ba zi element and strength.

For example, if the child or person occupying the bedroom is a weak water person, then the best colour for the bedroom is based on two colours:-

1. Metal (white or gold)

2. Water (blue, black or grey)

In the above example, the room can be painted in neutral white. And curtains or bedsheets in blue or say grey, in colour.

In a higher dimension of Feng Shui, the Flying star Feng shui is also combined to look at the bedroom.

For example, say the person who is staying in the bedroom is a weak metal person.

And his /her best elements or colours are:-

1. Earth (Yellow, cream or beige)

2. Metal (White or gold)

But because the room is plagued by say bad yellow stars such as #5 or #2, although yellow, cream or beige fits this person, but because the bedroom cannot take earth colours because of bad yellow #5, then it is best to consider avoiding Earth tone colours for his/her room but to go for metal (white or gold) instead.

Usually, this is the common standard practise amongst the majority of FS practitioners in the way of selecting colours for a new home.

Say, if we have stayed in the home for a few years, and because of the above, e.g. the bedroom was painted yellow or cream and the person living there frequently falls sick, either it is best to change the colours or introduce "metal cures" to such a home.

For a new home or a new home that is going to go for renovations, we can forgo cures but use colour schemes that avoid the Flying Star imbalances.

No matter how, it is best to use the Flying star and or vs the ba zi since both uses the common denominator:- the Five elements concept.

Frankly, if it all sounds complicated or greek, then, do get a FS practitioner to provide you futher advise on the painting of the rooms.

However, if one does not want to consult a fs practitioner, than, try to paint neutral colours such as white or very light pastel shades of other colours. This is the best compromise.
