Grand Duke is usually affected by major renovations especially any hacking works etc. Although, paintings are not as major, it still does consider as a renovation.

Best thing to do is simply just offer a little prayer to Grand Duke apologising for disturning him before you start work and probably choose a good date also. These should minimise any impact of offending the Grand Duke especially to the owner of the home.
