By how, after having seen the earlier wedding photos under this forum, I believe it is not difficult for you to recognise the double happiness symbol. This photograph is the wedding photograph of my grandfather and grandmother. My grandmother is now over 90 years old and staying with my auntie (my father's only sister in Brisbane, Australia). In Chinese weddings, you will also notice that flowers are abundant like any other weddings around the world. A second wedding photo (undated) is another (unidentifid wedding couple. One interesting thing to note is the carpet they are standing on. At the centre of the picture: It looks like two peacocks facing each other. Warmest Re…

Dear All, The better fountains are those with symbolic circular bowls or rings. As circle represents metal element. And under the productive cycle of the five elements: Metal supports Water element. However, it is best for a fountain to have all five elements:- 1. Circle (representing Metal element) 2. Water (actual water itself) 3. Wood (place a plant near to or inside the water) 4. Earth (the actual fountain is made of stone / ceramic: which represents the earth element). 5. Fire (use an under water light or if indoor, can also use a spot-light that focus inwards. The light should be turned on using an automatic timer. 6. For example: in my case, I turn it on from say …

Chinese believe that the gates of hell is opened up during the Lunar 7th Month and ghosts are allowed to wonder on the earth. To ward of bad luck, this is an inauspicious month for marriage, moving house, travelling etc... I took a few pictures of a group of taxi drivers celebrating the Chinese 7th month Hungry Ghost Festival. In 1999, the 7th month started on 11 August and ends on 9th September 1999

Saw this, the other day at Prive @ Punggol. This is another consideration if one is considering purchasing a ground floor unit with an open PES area. It is common for cigarette butts and other items to be thrown down. On occasions even little ones from upper floors unintentionally throw down their toys or even AAA sized batteries..

1. A few days ago, I visited a new housing development and was found many of the housing units with the toilet at the centre of the house. 2. Although the shape of the house is considered `good' i.e. rectangle/squarish in shape, but a toilet at the centre of the house implies that finances are drained. 3. Generally if one is buying a new house, try to avoid a layout plan with the toilet in the centre. As this is considered a major "leak" (wealth and health). 4. Fortunately, often it takes three or more major leaks to cause problems especially to the breadwinner and the household. 5. In additional, hopefully the Flying Star Feng Shui of the unit is equa…

Note: This page contains 4 pictures. Size between 35k to 53k each. Please be patient ... wait for the pictures to be loaded. Today, it is quite common to see `artificial' tubes containing water. The base of these tubes produce bubbles and lighted up usually with blue light. As most of the water is enclosed, only a small surface i.e. the top of the tubes are in contact with air. One has to suspect whether, beneficial Qi flows better or less under this tube. Contrast this to more traditional concepts like a water wall or a fountain. Some homes are begining to use the smaller versions of it. Perhaps, could the lighting in the water tube or the bubbles create benefical Qi eve…

FLYING STAR FENG SHUI OF STACK #12 These are some considerations: 1. As mentioned under Part 2; the current prosperity wealth stars for now to 2023 falls at NE where there is a an auspicious mountain #1 star with water star #6. 2. Fortunately for stack 12; there is a void and there are openings such as windows at North (bedroom 2) where one can still squeeze some luck if one do often open the windows at this side of the stack/unit. 3. However, the most auspicious set of stars #8's North compass sector is wasted between the wall of the kitchen and bath 2. Another auspicious star is wasted at East. Which happens to be a solid wall. Thus such good …

Waterway Cascadia Sales Brochure: Site Plan and Floor Plans waterway-cascadia.pdf 1. HDB Waterway Cascadia Just T.O.P. 2. In my opinion, Punggol is like a mini-Singapore island. 2.1. This is because bulk of Punggol stretches from the East e.g. fringes like FLO Residences / Waterwoods / HDB Sundial. 2.2. Frankly, I personally prefer this stretch i.e. the "land of the rising sun". And we find Katong and Tanjong Katong. 2.3. With the correct unit; one typically enjoys the morning sun. 3. HDB Waterway Cascadia including HDB Punggol Opal, Topaz are at the western most part of Punggol and the division is that of the Sungei Punggol ... 3.…

Further to the above, the earlier pictures shows the Public Housing built in the 1950's. This lot of picture shows the Public Housing built around a decade later i.e. 1960's. This set of flats may most probably make way or demolished for new higher density development as they are not as considered as "beautiful" or worth conserving as the earlier batch built in the 1950's. The characteristic of such flats is the uneven cement walls, showing the profile of laid bricks. Furthermore, these bricks are not made of the usual red clay bricks. But rather, they were made with low quality hollow lightweight cement bricks.

Note: 1. I sincerely apologise that the pictures are taken by a non-professional photographer (Cecil) using a simple Sony DSC-F1 camera. The only advantage is that this camera I bought a few years back is small and handy. Best of all I use the "infra-red" to sent to my PC. Sometimes I may take pictures in the evening as in this case. Thanks for your understanding:) 2. It is never my intention to promote the use of figurines. These figurines as I mentioned are quite commonly found in some Chinese homes. 3. It is for purpose of " education " only especially for non-Chinese to understand more about Chinese beliefs and legends. Some of these figures appear in Chinese…

1. Nowadays, many homes especially apartments: HDB/EC/Condos are getting smaller and smaller. 2. Often, many homeowners tend to install shelving units to fit exactly into these bomb shelters. 3. And in many instances; these bomb shelters are filled fully. And what a chore to remove them temporarily; for example if there is a "emergency" exercise. 4. Thus, it makes sense if the "emergency" is only temporary;to have the bomb shelter built-into the exit staircases. 4.1 As the houseowners do not need tospent time and perhaps lots of effort to remove all the items in the bomb shelter and even try todismantle the shelving. 5.Of course, on the trade-off; ifthere is a real e…

A 1960's tailor's shop front still around today 1. Observe the mosaic tiles adorning the floor of the tailor shop. 2. This establishment located on Tanjong Katong Road features a distinctive shop front characterized by two expansive display windows flanking either side. 3. Such architectural styles were prevalent during that era, with numerous shops along prominent streets like North Bridge Road showcasing similar designs. "A Welcome FEEL of .... Kindly enter, please do come in." 4. It seems that marketing psychology was employed during that period, as the angled "V" display cabinets flanking either side were crafted to optimize display spac…

[Archive: Family Photos : 1930's to 1940's] What is the Cheong sam? 1. The Cheong sam is a dress worn by women. (Usually, the middle and upper class). 2. The beauty of the Cheong sam is that it allows a women to `show off' their figure! 3. To this day, it is still continued to be worn by many women for formal occassions e.g. wedding dinners and other functions. Is the Cheong sam comfortable to be worn? 1. Sorry, I am not a lady so cannot truely comment. 2. I understand that you as it is tight fitting, you really and I mean really must have the figure to wear it else it may be quite uncomfortable. Can the Cheong sam be worn by the young (young ladies) and the old)? Yes,…
