Hi Master, i am considering buying a house with the attached layout. I noticed the main door seems to be facing the master bedroom door which is not good? If the bedroom door is always closed, will that still be a concern? It has a private lift. While the main door does not face the lift, it is perpendicular to it. Is that a concern? Appreciate your kind advice.

Sorry, really, no offence; but what you mentioned is pretty common. Even 20 years ago; there are already penthouse especially with jacuzzi on top floors; just that if you are not in the real estate or Feng Shui business; you may not have encountered this. When you mentioned pool at the roof garden; mentally, in my mind; I could easily name several developments with such things. For example, just last year, I audited a unit at Sixth Avenue Ville; which has a roof top pool. Here, one of my clients bought a resale flat that is below the pool. In Singapore, in the 1970's there were already several hotels with roof top pools. There are even more condos with swimming pools on …

Is it true that i should not attend any wake within 100 days of my parent's passing? What is the reason? Is it not good for the friend's family whose wake I want to attend or not good for me or not good for both parties? Or its OK to attend the wake as long as the other party is OK to do so? During my mum's wake recently, a friend whose grandma passed away within a month, attended my mum's wake as I said its OK to attend and am not particular about such .

Dear Josephine, Yes, usually, it is best to check for `leaks' in the house, first. It would be nice if we can enhance but often, we forget that we must first fix-the-leaks. From a Shapes and Forms point, there are several leaks in your home. (Frankly, I have not used other tools, it it involves more anlysis - due to a busy schedule). But from a Shapes and Forms and forms view, there are several leaks:- 1. Narrow hallway, which is on one side of the house. 2. Markings A to B:- The back patio sliding door. The path of qi from A to B is a direct path. And not auspicious. (Especially if the door is opened). In addition, because of this long corridor, there is supressed Qi. An…

Hi Master Cecil, I read your forum with interests. So practical views you have given. Would like your views on building a loft in my master bedroom. My master bedroom area is about 3.3m x 3m and has high ceiling of 7m so am planning to build a loft with staircase. Bottom level will be about 3m or more high. Staircase will be with storage/cupboard for clothes underneath. I intend to sleep downstairs as there is 2 windows and planning for old age (I am almost 50 years and hubby 52 year old). The upper level will be for wardrobe and study table and no window as it’s all just fixed glass panel. But it will still be very bright. I understan…

You wrote: I have to choose between two office cubicles at work in 2 days and I need help in selecting which one to get. One office cubicle has a big column or pillar right next to the wall panel of the cubicle that when I sit down in front of my desk, I could see the column that goes up to the ceiling behind the wall panel, but this cubicle has good privacy. In my opinion, based on the Holy trinity of luck: two of the luck factors are: Feng Shui (Earth Luck) and Human factor. Here, as you had mentioned, the Human factor wins hands down for the above. Many offices use rounded columns if so, there should not be an issue. and often due to false ceiling; it is also a no issu…

These are some of the considerations:- 1. Remove it during Yang timing especially best with natural daylight. Thus if you are at home; the best time to remove it is between 11am to 1pm and not later than 3pm. (3pm onwards is yin timing). 2. The most common method of disposalofitems (if it is "clean")is to warp it up in clean used newspaper. Place it into a normal plastic bag and throw it into the bin. 3. In fact, the rationale for your previous master's writing is to protect the ba gua mirror with a charm. Thus it seems puzzling that such a mirror can offend "yin" energies. 3.1. Frankly, this ba gua mirror and charm is suppose to be effective for "Chinese, Thai, V…

Hello Feng Shui masters, I'm looking at purchasing a property and while the apartment itself is not trapezoidal shaped, the detached garage (on the basement level) has a storage cage which is very obviously an irregular shape. Is this considered trapezoidal shaped land (since I will own the storage cage)? Kind regards and many thanks.

Is the concept of Feng Shui applicable to rental properties? Dear Cecil, This house that I'm very interested in buying as a rental property, is in a great location and the price is right. What has been keeping me from making an offer is that this house faces North which is my "Disaster" direction. I'm also a Strong Water. I would never buy a North facing house to live in, but will I get BAD luck if I buy it to rent out to other people? Thank you! Hoa

Dear Chris, There are two considerations under "Feng Shui" i.e. 1. Symbolism under Shapes and Forms FS 2. Commonsense approach to Feng Shui 1. Under Symbolism in Feng Shui, it is considered a disadvantage to have a knife or sword hanging or placed or displayed in the living room. As this is symbolic of quarrels or disharmony. 2. Under Commonsense approach Just like guns with live bullets lying in the home. This can be assessed wrongly by young children or a parent or family member who is quick tempered or used by intruders into a home. Generally, as you had mentioned, it is best to keep or display the sword in a specific room e.g. your study room. And if possible, …

Dear Simon, The following are points to consider on the display of ornamental Japanese swords:- 1. Like any other swords, it should not face the main entrance door. 2. It should be displayed with the protective sword casing even if the sword is blunt. 3. Ideally, it should be displayed in a display cabinet. 4. The best location to display the ornamental sword is in a `separate' room. For example, in a private office, a `person' room . 5. Avoid displaying it in the living room, dining room, family room. As mentioned above, it should be in a " private " room. If it is displayed under para 5 above, there may be a possibility of relationship problems. Finally, in my opinion…

Hello Master! Does a toilet underneath the staircase have any remedy? I have been looking at a property with the attached plan - the stairs continue over the toilet and laundry here to the first floor of this townhouse. Or should we no longer consider this property? Many many thanks!
