Dear Jian Rong, Yes, some Feng Shui practitioner(s) often recommend a mirror at the stove area. One commonsense approach is that this may allow the person cooking to look at his/her "blind spot" or simply: the person who cook can see who's coming into the kitchen. Dear Shinta, In real life:- Huo-lu actually is the Chinese word for a stove be it a modern or olden stove. While in romanized Mandarin, there is no such thing as wou-lou. It might have being either wrongly spelt as referred to the above "huo-lu" or are you referring to a "hu lu"? A hu lu is actually known as "bottle gourd". Traditionally used by many practitioners to neutralise sickness stars e.g. #5 or #2. For example, some FS practitioners may require one to place a bottle gourd ( hu lu) next to the bed to "suck away " sickness? Thus of these bottle gourds have a cap some do not. Dear Shinta, Often, especially if one is doing DIY Feng Shui; should if possible also draw out a Flying Star Chart of your home. The purpose is to: 1. identify areas that need or require correction(s) if any and or to 2. Enhance certain sectors. The rationale for drawing a Flying Star Chart is thus to understand what are the intangible forces at a specific sector. In most instances, there is no harm placing a set of six-coins especially if there are sectors found with #5 or #2. Dear Anon, To be honest, these are more of Chinese customs or beliefs than Feng Shui. And these customs should be consideredas "Nice-to-do" and not "Must-do". Thus, it would be good to follow the procedures (No harm). But if one cannot follow the procedure for one reason or the other, should not be an issue. Dear Master, Thank you very much for your reply. I am getting better now. About my flat, I don't understand and know how to find out the position as per your advise. Myflat main dooris facing Southwest (210 deg from center of my flat to the main door) at 9th floor. I think the facing of my main doorshouldn't consider the "mouth" of the house? Just perpendicular to this main door is a long stretch of window facing Northwest. Should this be considered as my flat facing (sitting Southeast facing Northwest) ? Dear Anon, 1. The best is often to move out of the home during the renovation period. 2. For the Chinese, it is best to pray facing the grand duke. For example, it can be a simple apology by saying: "Apologies or sorry to disturb you, as I have to start renovations, soon. Some Chinese offer two incense sticks with 5 fruits on a plate to applease the god. As for the Five yellow or work required outside of the home place some metal between the home and the work to be carried out. Otherwise, can still do the above prayer to the spirits of the home. Traditionally, many Chinese would visit the temple to get their figurine(s) blessed. Many of these figurines are famous deities like: goddess of mercy or guan gong etc... However, I believe many products purchased via commercial means are considered merely decorative items. Selling products in the name of Feng Shui is very lucrative! As such they should be treated as decorations. When dirty, no issue in washing them. For such products` often, people buy them, gets dirty and many times the are removed from display or forgotten! Thanx, I am not buyinga house right nowand it's not facing a bad direction. It's affordable and has somecobble stones in the living room and some brick walls in the kitchen.Maybe that's why I was so drawn to it. Dear Anon, Generally, when we select an auspicious date, usually, (for practical purposes) it should be the start-date. As mentioned, this definition is more practical and can easily be applied. For example, lets take the case of a fixed location. More often, many people select a good date and time to go-into a new home (initial - opening of the door). Dear Cam, Since the home is in escrow, do what you already. If you are applying Feng Shui principles, then the most important is firstly to check for any "threats" aimed towards the home such as a lone lamp-post slicing owards e.g. the main entrance or windows. Space-clearing is another commonsense approach to Feng Shui i.e. do not overly clutter the home, garage with too many boxes and storeaways etc... I have a similart arrangement in the cubicle. The only difference is that the columns are ROUND. How can I do something about this ? In this sitting position, I am facing East to South which is good as I'm a East Group person. Another possible cubicle without columns have a South to West direction. I am not sure which is a better choice for me. Dear CM, For a home, you should be looking at the micro-level e.g. your actual condo or office unit's main door to check on suitability. Sometimes, when the building main entrance is looked at, it is often to apply Flying Star Feng Shui to look or study the qi of the building e.g. where to place a suitable water feature outside of the building and/or to build landscaping to suit the flying stars. Dear Aloysius, Ideally, the main entrance door should not be in a direct path with the balcony. If so; depending on the layout of the door; if the door is close to one side of the apartment, then logically, a partition can be placed between the main door and the balcony area or alternatively, the side of the sliding door facing the main door should not be opened.
