Dear Wayne, 1. Yes, some Feng Shui books warn of living close to high power transmission lines. Here, some of these books quote the magnetic field coming from such lines as `unsafe' for health. 2. So far, if I am not mistaken, there were studies conducted even by Universities to say that there are no adverse effects on human beings. 3. This could also explain why, some of us are still `allowed' by the authorities to live close to these power-lines. 4. Under Commonsense approach to Feng Shui, it is always safer to stay clear of power towers. Not because of any ill effects (magnetic force) but rather, in an unlikely senario of the tower falling down e.g. due to high winds o…

Dear Vijay, So far, based on my personal observations, this is not a major issue. In Singapore, like anywhere else in the world, many landed properties (site) are either: 1. On the same level to the road 2. Higher than the road 3. Lower than the road Based on my personal experience, I often see many homes similar to your description ie. (para 2 type) do not encounter financial loss. Nor affect the health of the owners. But rather, more importantly, the concern is that of open drains that e.g. flow behind the house or at the side. Often, rather, if the house has a large opening e.g. sliding glass doors at the frontage with main entrance doors, there is a possibility that c…

Dear Sanjay, In my opinion, it is difficult to give advise on the issue, unless you have a rough sketch. For example, is there a road separating the two premises (property) and is it a two-way street and how many lanes. It is also good to have the sketch of your home/perimeter and some of these information. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Grace, The clue to the wealth element is based on two considerations: 1. Personal Ba Zi element of a person. Is the person a weak or strong wood? 2. The "Destructive Cycle" of the Five Elements Concept. Reference: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm 3. If one looks carefully at the "Destructive sequence", it is actually quite misleading to say that the destructive sequence in `no good'. In fact, the destructive sequence has also to do with wealth creation. 4. For example: In the case of the wood element. A plant or tree gets its nurishment from the ground. Here, literally, the roots of the plants go into the earth to `crush' and anchor itself i…

Dear Anon, 1. The key success in Feng Shui is often " Not practising Feng Shui at all". 2. Frankly, if one analyse Feng Shui carefully, often the key success has much to do with our external environment. Or higher weightage is to placed on our external environment. 3. For example, just three months back, this businessman consulted on his home Feng Shui. And he is in this `metal' parts business for quite sometime. 4. After our home consultation, he asked me whether, should he invite me to look at his business Feng Shui. 5. Here, I asked him how is his business. He said, it is OK. 6. Given this understanding, I mentioned to him that it is not really necessary to do a FS au…

Dear Kathy, 1. "We are opposites!!!" 2. Cecil: "So are We!!!!!!!!! " 3. In some of my past messages, it is best to take a three-step approach to understanding any concepts: 3.1. What is the purpose of the concept? 3.2. What are it's strengths? 3.3. What are it's weakness? 4. The eight house theory has more to do with how suitable a house is to us? 5. Does it imply "how suitable are we to each other? Yes/No? 6. I would say, NO! It does not mean that one should get separated, live apart and finally divorce! But, one day, MAYBE, it can become a LAME EXCUSE for someone wanting to `get-rid' of his/her marriage - for good! 7. Even in a bedroom, where there are `opposites'. I h…

Dear Grace, Under the Eight House Theory, the best work direction is the "Excellent" or "Prosperity" sector. Or facing one's excellent or prosperity sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jacqueline, Frankly, it is difficult to give proper advise, given limited information. This is because, usually, when we approach a home, we look at the layout plan or of the interior of the home; the location of toilets, openings e.g. side openings etc.. to see if the wealth leak can be minimised. In relation to the current `wall' etc.. It also includes scanning of the next door neighour and the fully area front, back etc.. Therefore, given the limited info, it would not be a good idea to give any remedy as you had mentioned, it may bring far worse complications if done wrongly. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Susan, Most likely both of you are conscious about the the mirror above your bed. The best is to buy an opaque film, cut out the profile or outline, first. And if you know how to D.I.Y. simply, clean the mirror first, and then add a bit of soap into a spraying bottle, and spray the water onto the mirror. Once done, just paste the film and use a tool e.g. like a credit card or atm card to smooth the surface. (Do remember to use some cloth to collect the spilled water. Covering it with symbols, would often not help if the base (mirror has not being covered up). For the Chinese, the double happiness symbol can be used. But, since from your name, you are not a Chinese, …

Dear Philip, Frankly, in my opinion; the hand-me-downs you mentioned perhaps has more to do with co-incidence, than anything else. This is because logically, such items do not seem to pass down an illness or a situation. I would strongly thing that the hand-me-downs is not really a major issue. But, it is no harm playing safe - not to hand it over to your new born. So far, the incomplete picture is that Flying Star feng shui has SE as #5 at this sector. Please check to see if the room does not have earth tones especially yellow, cream or beige or fire tones e.g. red, pink or purple in this room. As these two elements are not favourable for this lunar year at SE. Wishing y…

Dear Vijay, It would be great if all leaks can be penned down in one forum message. But, this is impossible to do. We have actually, made available, free resources within this site and this forum. You can always try to look at the specific forum conferences e.g. Photo tours with interests, Singapore Property etc... Alternatively, note down which topics interest you, and use the SEARCH feature under this forum to find out more. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Vijay, 1. If one is looking at the 5 elements concept; it is important that we understand the destructive cycle. 2. In past forum messages, I mentioned that actually, the destructive cycle is also the `wealth' creation model. 3. For example: lets look at the "destructive cycle":- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm E.g. Wood destroys earth 4. Here, if we look carefully at this "destruction": actually, logically speaking wood gets it's nurishment from earth. 5. And as we are all aware, over farming is undesirable. thus, many farmers plant one crop, rotate another crop etc.. And they also add neutrient into the soil. 6. Another example is Metal …

Dear Zora, Please refer to the resource from one of my very early site:- http://www.lovesigns.net/astrology/ayear/a30-50.htm The rationale has more to do with the YEAR of birth. This is because, those born in January or February are often affected by which year your birth date should belong to. Take your example: In the above resource reference:- Your birthday is said to belongs to "1944" where the lunar new year starts on 25 Jan 1944 and ends at 12 Feb 1945 While "1945" belongs to 13 Feb 1945 to 1 Feb 1946. Thus a person who is born on 28 January 1946 should be treateda as born under 1945. If you use our website, you should be able to cross-check and get the correct inf…

Dear Wendy, Frankly, although some books had mentioned about the ills of living close to high-tension wires; So far, from what I understand there is never a scientic proof that it brings harm to those close-by. Thus often, this is `mind' over `matter'. The only consequence under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui is that the trunk or pole or rod, should not slice into the home. If so, this is sha qi. Frankly, there were recent claims that some handphones had high (microwave radiation). More likely, if this is true, of the ill effects, we most likely can get sick or run down by a "car" than die from high-tension wires. Thus, it does not seem logical to worry too much about this.…

Dear SK, You house has satisified Para 1 and 2. As for Para 3, as mentioned in my previous message, so far, it is proven that a hill as high as 1 storey high, will most certainly qualify for the Pearl String Formation. Hmm... for "tall thick Hedge", this is something new (or not proven yet). This is because, under the original Pearl String Formation, the effectiveness has to do with `earth' or a hill made of earth. As to a `hill' made of thick hedge, as mentioned, in my opinion, there is very few past precedence. And to me, frankly is virgin territory. Looking at it, you may have to decide on your own whether to try it or not. Thus to me, I cannot say for sure, if it will…

Dear Daria, Yes, in my opinion, based on what I understand; is it many practitioners would consider removing the roof (and putting it back i.e. changing it) as a change in Period. Thus, you should consider your parents' home as under Period 7 influence, already. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Leon, "Sector Feng Shui" or simply said - Paying homage to a sector, in my opinion, has the lowest success rate (if any). Even at this basic level, at least considering whether a location is bright (Yang) or dark (Yin) and then determining colour scheme (although) not the best method, but has certainly a higher success rate than enhancing a sector based on it's "so called definition e.g. patriah etc...". Frankly, this type of "Feng Shui" is not practised here. Erh.... " next question, please. " Warmest Regards, Cecil Thanks for all your

Dear Anon, 1. Frankly, this question should not be posted in this forum. Since, in my opinion, there is no such cure under Feng Shui. 2. But, seriously, lets hope your neighbour moves away. 3. These are some of the `hints' which has nothing to do with ME or with Feng Shui. So, here goes: 3.1 Wish for more rain. Heavy rain would make sure that your neighour cannot get a puff outside the home. 3.2 Pay a Feng Shui practitioner to "feng shui" your neighbour's home. Make sure, you choose a very Lousy Feng Shui practitioner. One who will cause more harm than good:) 3.3 If all else fails, seriously, get your home air cleaners such as hepa cleaners ...e.g. Honeywell, Sharp plasma…

Dear Kath, In fact, having a house number with a `4' in it very common, throughout the world. Given this situation, it boils down to our own personal `thinking'. Frankly don't think too much about it. A house number is hardest if not nearly impossible to change. However, if you live in a landed property, many people, have symbolically `raised' the lettering of their house number e.g. at the main gate pillar etc.. For example, the number raised looks like: 4 6 Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Tuck Shing, Frankly, this is communal living. But, as a last resort, try to check with your town council whether there are any recourse e.g. can the neighbour, hang the urn closer to their front door? If you are in speaking terms (for now) with your neighbour, and if it is possible for them to hang it closer to their door, try to do so. For example, do you have a religion yourself? For example, some Christians are against hanging of urns etc.. From a Feng Shui point of view, (in my opinion), where possible, the mouth of your house e.g. main door should not be `cut' e.g. by the length of the string / wire as it would seem to `cut' or slice your main door into two. S…

Dear Sanjay, 1. In my opinion, the most logical approach is based on the "reflective concept". 2. What this means is that in Feng Shui, we now often see buildings with highly reflective (sun-x) coated glass. These glass surface on these buildings are highly reflective. And in Feng Shui, this can become a sha qi to others. 3. Thus, like the idea of the ba gua mirror (reflecting back bad luck etc..) a shiny glass e.g. window mirror is one resort. 4. The other `last resort' situations are: 4.1 Often in Taiwanese Feng Shui, plants or trees are commonly used. Is there a possibility of planting plants to reduce the sha qi. As this is based on the concept: "If it is not seen, i…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, such products has more to do with "Human factors", than Earth Luck. Many of the products sold on the market are too commercialised to be of any use. It has all to do with the `mind'. Often, many people would buy such products, place it for a while (see that it does not work), chuck them aside. Before all these takes place, it seems to collect dust (first). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Bernard, 1. In the past, I had asked users here to apply a "Three-Step-Approach". Step 1: What is the purpose of the concept? (Or each concept) Step 2: What are it's strengths? Step 3: What are it's weakness? 2. It is best to note down, each concept with reference to these three questions (above). 3. For example, under the Eight House Theory, if one does not spent time at a specific sector, there is nothing else (nor magical) even if a sector is auspicious - based on this concept - one has to spent time at the sector. 4. Distinctively, we humans have our birth chart (Ba Zi or Pillars of Destiny). And homes also has it's specific birth chart based on Flying Star Feng …

Dear Anon, The best option here is - not to cause more problems with the profile of the development. Here, try to as possible, have the shape of the building in a rectangular shape. Avoid odd shapes like U, circle shapes etc... Proper landscaping of the development can help. Warmest Regards, Cecil
