Dear Newsgroup Guest, Frankly, if Feng Shui is to be applied, a home has to be Feng Shuied first before such advise is given. Looks like you may have to use your intuition. Or, often, seek opinion of your spouse and even family members as to which colour; everyone like or prefer. In my opinion, the amount of light filtering thru to this long corridor should be taken into consideration. For example, if the long corridor is often `dark', then, it makes more sense to use a lighter coloured overlay carpet or carpet that can bounce off more light. Then dark coloured ones that often absorb light. Another consideration (not Feng Shui)is that unfortunately, light coloured `heavy'…

1. Try to do a SEARCH for recent articles on "Facing Direction" of the home. 2. Try to measure the "frontage" based on the most yang qi or "brightest qi" of the home. Majority of the time if your apartment building has a "single" face, try to check if it fits the description of most yang qi. Michael K. wrote: Hello Master Lee, I'm responding to your last reply to my post. Thank you for you patience, and I apologize for my slow learning curve. I gather from your last reply that in measuring my front door 24 mountain facing direction that I'm supposed to measure the front door of my apartment building and not the front door of my personal suite; is this correct? Thank you…

1. In my opinion, the process of burial (burial place) and subsequently the procedure between this and before "forced" cremation can affect one's luck. 2. For example, the removal of remains e.g. excavation has to be done properly. Very simple situations include, putting up a tent above the burial site, just before excavation, plus, other rituals are significant. 3. Thus any process done up-to that stage and cremation should be properly done. 4. However, once the cremation has been completed, collection of the urn, arranging for the new site could also do with some "proper procedure". 5. Usually, once cremated, it is less crucial to find the best site since the urn wo…

Dear Amy, Usually, under Feng Shui, painting of the door is based on the following considerations: 1. Are there any threats to the frontage of the house? If there are threats to the main entrance: Example 1: If the main door is facing a cemetry or tombstones.. then it is good to paint the door in the most yang of colours i.e. RED. Red is also chosen as an auspicious colours e.g. Chamber of Commerce building or the colour of temple doors. Example 2: Singapore is considered in the `South' and generally, since South represent Fire element, Metal colour doors or White is a generally good colour for the door. 2. The front door colour should `harmonize' with the element of that…

Dear Charles, It is best to look at two charts and see which is the better chart. As the Flying Star or the birth chart of the house differs in each door direction. Yes, if you are `changing' the door or using a backdoor to become a main door, then, you can do so. 1. However, this existing backdoor should not be smaller than your present main door. 2. It should open inwards, 3. If the main door has two doors (left and right) - it is best to have this configuration. 4. The new `main door' should also have the house number placed on it. 5. Preferably an auspicious date be chosen for the work to be carried out. Warmest Regards, Cecil

1. Firstly even if possible, normally tilting a door only brings temporary changes - and often not the best method. 2. The better method is to "tap" qi coming from good sectors e.g. if the qi coming from a specific sector e.g. a specific living room window, then it is good to constantly allow qi to come in from this window. And for some window(s) that has poor qi, then open them less often (provided these are not critical windows such as a bedroom window). If so, the window should still be opened to allow air to circulate. (opened but not fully).

Dear Agnes, Nowadays, due to the highly commercialization of Feng Shui, every object that can be sold has been given a `tag' as a Feng Shui enhancer or cure or neutralising agent. For example, even in Chinese beliefs such as the three legged toad has been said to bring `good fortune'. Sometimes these objects are sold for more than US$50 or more and I am not too sure who has the better fortune? The seller or the poor buyer who had just departed with US $50 or more? Please see below:- Alternatively, some FS practitioners advise the use of grand father clock i.e the tick-tock.. effect (as adding the sound of metal). Wooden wind chimes can be used to enhance a sector that…

Dear Yen Zhen, yan zhen goh wrote: I am a Ram person of weak water element (2nd Nov 1979). Thanks in advance! Frankly, horoscope is a very simplistic way to determine compatibility as it assigns each horoscope sign with some compatible and incompatible horoscope. Dear Anon, In my opinion, if one cannot position the bed otherwise; the position is still acceptable even if behind the solid wall is a restroom. Especially if the opposite wall / adjoining wall does not have the toilet bowl or it's piping. If I gather what u mentioned correctly, the wall behind your daughter's bed is the sink. Alternatively, place the bed against another solid wall (if possible). If you have a sketch of the layout, perhaps you can upload it here (under an attachment) so that I can take a look at it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. I hope you can understand that the advice given is very general. 2. In Feng Shui there is always no two situation that is alike. Especially since many of us have different personal birth charts and the birth charts of family members. 3. As you can see, if you browse thru this forum, there are many variable and situations. 4. If you are refering to the East/West group or Eight House Charts; this is only one of the zig-saw puzzles. 5. I will always emphaise that, everyone must know the Purpose, Strength and Weakness of each concept. 6. It is always good to have the house fit the breadwinners. As this will reduce one `handicap'. Usually, for problems to occur i…

Dear Kuah Huang, You can check out this url:- http://my.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/imagefolio.cgi?direct=Feng_Shui_Cures/6_coins In Feng Shui cures, the best remedy is to use 6 ancient Chinese coins with square holes in the center. The 6 coins are tied with a red string. It is usually hung on top of the wall or on the curtain as shown in the picture. For the picture, Singapore $1 coins can be used and placed side-by-side in a 3x2 row on a red packet. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Grand Duke is usually affected by major renovations especially any hacking works etc. Although, paintings are not as major, it still does consider as a renovation. Best thing to do is simply just offer a little prayer to Grand Duke apologising for disturning him before you start work and probably choose a good date also. These should minimise any impact of offending the Grand Duke especially to the owner of the home. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center …

1. Even if one needs to be "surrounded by" metal, there must be an acceptable level. Usually, if you had engaged an FS practitioner, then check with them. 2. If you are D.I.Y. then be equally reasonable. 3. Metal includes: e.g. circle or oval shape. And glass.

Dear Anon, Breadwinner refers to:- 1. When assessing a home, the breadwinner can be said to be the person who brings in the most money to the household. 2. If there are two `breadwinners' and each contributes to half of the money for the household, then usually, for computation purposes, it would have to be the male or the husband who should be considered the `breadwinner'. 3. The `breadwinner' need not be the owner of the home. It can be someone renting the home and in this case, we look for a `breadwinner' i.e. the person who pays the rental and earns the most in the home (rental). In this case, for assessment of the home (both homes), you can use your sister's part…

Dear Rosemarie, 1. If one is applying the `formula' or the Gua number, it is best to apply a specific site's interpretation from begining to the end. 2. The rationale is because, if one uses the steps provided by e.g. each site one should as a end result get the same answers. 3. I cannot blame you for getting confused especially, if one reads a few lines from one site and follow another set of guidelines from another e.g. book. Here, again, I must emphasise, you have to read totally the instructions from a site and follow it. 4. Rationale, why many are confused:- 4.1 The original template or Chinese compass uses the magnetic South to North. While the western uses North to…

1. Yes, this is indeed, true! 2. In traditional Feng Shui, first check which sector the litter box is placed. In the Chinese trigram, each sector represents a specific person. And this may affect the health of that specific person and even ill-luck to that person. 3. Make sure that the litter is cleaned daily. And some Feng Shui practitioners recommend "a nice looking" or designer - branded type of litter bin - of such nature.. Quote: Salina G. wrote: I have two cats and would like to place their litter box in the basement. I know that regular toilet has to be placed in a certain direction of the house because it affects one's health. Will the placement of the litter …

Dear Mark, Please see below:- If you want to do an audit, there are available online tools available. Alternatively, all users are open to hiring a FS consultant if they want to. But please do not sent me a floor plan with dates of birth and expect me to do all the ground work. My main purpose is to help users in the recommendations and analysis. It is best to get all things correct in Feng Shui than just figuring where your wealth area is. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Diane, In general, where it concerns the compass location at north east, it is best to avoid creating or enhancing the location to become too yin. This also depends on the size of your aquarium. Where water is considered a Yin element and too much of it may not be good for this sector. However, further FS audit may be needed such as: 1. What is the lighting level (especially natural light) that goes into this room/area? More natural light -- more yang and good. 2. How large is the aquarium. 3. If a Flying Star analysis has been done; how many #numbers relate to Yin at this sector? Where possible, the Flying star #numbers at this sector should have more Yang influence…

Dear Niteka, Currently, to the best of my knowledge, the two main holistic method of Feng Shui are: 1. Traditional School of Feng Shui originated from China. Here, the Shapes and Form and Compass Schools: Eight House and Flying Star. 2. Nine Star Ki. Which is a variant of the Compass School of Feng Shui more popularly adopted in Japan and applied by UK practitioners such as Jon Sandifier. 3. Although Nine Star Ki is one and the same as e.g. Flying Star, it is on its own a holistic approach. Where it can be used to analyse person to a home. 4. However, because Nine Star Ki uses its own methodogy and `packaged' method of finding out things, it is difficult to mix and match …

Dear Stacey, 1. What you are looking at is only based on `micro' Feng Shui. Although it is nice to get micro Feng Shui right, it is just part of holistic Feng Shui. (External environment is equally important). 2. Usually, in micro Feng Shui, the entire house Feng Shui is looked at. Not just whether the main door is facing southeast or southwest. Do also look at intangile force facing the bedroom area. 3. If the main door is really needed to be changed: it can be tilted to `kill two birds' with one stone i.e. away from SW and facing a good direction. However, usually a good date is chosen and the precise angled calcuated for the owner (to benefit him/her). Warmest Regards,…

Dear Lee, 1. In Feng Shui, if one has an `L-shaped' living room or living cum dining room; one should take advantage of (top-down view) of "two rectangular" shaped areas. Imagine here that a partition on one side of the wall with walking space - will imply two rectangle areas. This is the best configuration for an `L-shaped' room/area. 2. If you have a sketch of your existing `L-shaped' layout and/or a proposed sketch; feel free to upload it as a message (Attachment file) for me to make my comments. Otherwise, you may explain further or describe further (Forgive me -- hopefully, I can understand and comment somewhat on it) for you. Warmest Regards, Cecil
