Dear Pam, Overall, this is acceptable if it is directly facing the front door. It is not ideal but, can still be placed there. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Under the Eight House Theory, it is very common to find partners or spouse with opposite gua numbers. If let's say the bedroom is located in the North-West of the house. Since North-West location is your best sleeping position, in your case, try to sleep closer to this intangible line. While for your wife, she sleeps further or next to you (further away) from this intangible line. Here, you are like acting as a shield for your wife. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cecil, I'd like to ask some questions regarding a business element. As we know that the element of trading is water. But are the things being traded important too? For example, what is the element of trading electronics parts? Water or metal or fire? What happens if we trade many things which cover all 5 elements. If possible, could you please write an article on your web site that contains the element of each kind of business and career. Thanks in advance. Regards, Wasis

Note: Dear Vivek, Appreciate if you can upload your sketch as it was not included in this mail. Hi Cecil Thanks for your prompt response. I am really feeling a bit relieved as you are there for guidance. I am attaching a rough layout of my flat for your reference and will be obliged if you could guide me through the present situation of mine. Thanks again. Vivek

Dear Yew-Meng, Thank you for the sketch of your layout plan. I have marked the centrepoint of the house. The attached illustration will also show that you should take the compass reading from point A to B. Please refer to the above. You should be able to find the direction of the main entrance based on the attachment. From your sketch, it looks like your main door is at the North. It is a serious flaw if the house has its main door facing a hill. Ideally, the main door should be a the frontage or many of the windows for the frontage are located here. Sometimes, the main door can be at either side i.e. East or West. If one purposely built the frontage facing …

Dear Carol, It is best to look at a sketch. The rationle is that the main consideration is the Shapes and Form Feng Shui. In addition, it also depends on the country or climate. For example, if the weather is hot and there is no shade, a West room may become hot and not conducive to work. More importantly, as mentioned above, the Shapes and Form is the most crucial aspect. Sectors with imbalances, can easily be corrected at any location i.e. be it at the North-East or West. As mentioned, if you have a sketch, I can look at it based on the Shapes and Form (better positioning). Otherwise, it is difficult to provide a conclusive set of comments. Warmest Regards, Cecil

In my opinion, all the above are acceptable EXCEPT for the Black Hat. There is always a rationale as to why Black Hat is not "welcomed" or acceptable. You can find out more of Lin Yun's confession at this link:- http://www.qi-whiz.com/confess.html Frankly, if one is determiend to achieve something, go for it. I believe, it is all in the mind. If one notes down on a notebook, perhaps, consciously, it may help some people in becoming focuse. I am not saying to do it, but, it is akin to some teaches who ask their students to write e.g. 1000 lines as a form of punishment. Therefore, there is really no harm doing so if one feels like it. Often, many of us, carry a notepa…

Dear Carlos, 1. Earth colour is `yellow'. 2. It should not be mistaken for `gold' colour as this represents the Metal element (gold or white). 3. For wood, the closest colour is `pine wood'. Many would know it especially if you have an IKEA store around you. 4. Please take note that earth element is the strongest all round the season. And for any enhancements using `earth', one should be more cautious. 5. This common childhood phase can be applied to earth: " Yellow, yellow, dirty fellow ". 6. Because of bad earth elements such as #2 sickness and #5 misfortune; especially #5 is also known as "Deadly Yellow". 7. Another characteristics of earth element is that `square' or…

I read this article online in our local Newspaper and thought I'd share it in this forum. This article is from the major newpaper distribution here in "Silicon Valley" just South of San Francisco in the US and as Cecil has mentioned numerous times, Sector FS by Lin Yun has found it's way here and is, unfortunately, quite popular here. Other pertinent information about my area. 1 Silicon Valley is one of the most racially diverse areas in the US, around 70%white, 30% minority (black, hispanic, asian, etc) 2 Feng Shui is cultural and has it's heritage in Asian countries 3 US is essentially an open and melting pot society 4 Therefore, it is easy to spread the teachings of …

Further to what I mentioned earlier, this is the rationale for the reason for placing e.g. two plants on each side of the main entrance as an alternative:- You can also use the SEARCH feature in this forum and simply type in " triangle effect " to list out past forum messages on it. --- Past Reply --- Topic: What is the `Triangle Effect'? Dear Marti, 1. In my opinion, this is a minor or a non-issue especially for hornet bees. 2. From my own personal experience, when I was young, I can reminicent, staying in a compound especially where the fencing has `plants' with flowers growing on them, I could recall, these hornet bees had something like a yellow ring. 3. And often they would come close to the flowers on the fence. Perhaps, this is where they do polinate the plants. Sometimes, they do buzz close to my ears but I have never seen them `attack' myself or anyone. 4. Frankly, today, sometimes when one fly past my garden, I would simply stand there and listen to them. They have never created any problems. …

Dear Anon, 1. Based on 965, where 9 represents fire, six metal element and 5 (bad Yellow five or earth), the 9 with 5 is not ideal as fire (9) enhances earth (5). 2. A 6 (metal) may not be enough in such a situation. 3. Many FS practitioners, consider a computer as belonging to the fire element. Therefore, if you can, try to add more `metal' e.g. 6 coins to further destroy the two combinations of fire-earth. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Yang Ming, I like to add that, in my opinion, I am very confident that the "Black Hat" model is not viable in the Far East especially Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong and Taiwan. This is because, the "Black Hat" is based on a `marketing ploy'. I feel Black Hat is not viable for the following reasons:- 1. Locally in Singapore, the traditional Feng Shui practitioner does not mix products with their consultation. 2. Since products are readily available in a wide area in Singapore, there is NO REASON for a Feng Shui practitioner to tout such goods. 3. Unlike in the West, where perhaps, some of the products are rarer to find. And usually, some FS practitioners (authenti…

Dear Peck Wun, Please see below:- Under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, there is not much one can do unless one occupies another room. Usually, in such a situation:- 1. Always get the Shapes and Form of the placement of the interior of the bedroom right. For example, where ever possible, see if the bed can be on the opposite wall of the bedroom door. Or have the bed head placed against a solid wall. 2. This depends on the individual. But often, Flying Star Feng Shui is used to evaluate this and other rooms to neutralise any Sha Qi if any. The limited cures are either:- 1. Placement of a mirror on the wall to create a symbolic `extension'. 2. Placement or either a win…

Dear Leah, 1. Often two Feng Shui Schools can be looked at with regards to a water position e.g. aquarium. 2. The most general form is based on the Shapes and Form Feng Shui. Here, ideally, the water position should be found in a `clear space' location. Commonly, it should (commonsense) approach be placed especially an aquarium against a wall such as the living room or surrounding or even close the main door if there is sufficient space. 3. The most popular advise provided by Feng Shui practitioners is to relate a water position to the directions. For example, you have mentioned that it is considered good to place it e.g. such as East or SE (Wood Element), North (Water) e…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, it is very difficult to depend on a compass to determine all these stars that you had mentioned. Frankly, if this is the case, a book on " Secrets of Wealth, Relationships Revealed " may come in a paperback. If there is such an authentic book, then, in my opinion, it would be the hottest seller outselling books like the bible. But unfortunately, a holistic approach is a better bet. All of us in our lifetime have taken examinations since young. And we all know that the `clue' here is simply put -- to score maximum marks in the various sections of the paper. Holisic Feng Shui is also like this. And one should take into account the best practises o…

Dear Anon, It is always considered a `disadvantage' to have missing corners in a home. And there can be other significance not necessarily with regards to `recognition'. Yes, there are a few known cures and some of this include:- 1. Using a mirror to `extend' a missing corner. However, this option is best looked at in relation to Compass School Feng Shui. Here, a mirror is considered a double `edged sword': if the particular location in question is auspicious, then it can bounce back twice the good luck. But if it si an inauspicous sector, it can bounce back twice the bad luck. 2. For a landed property, there are more options. Here, the idea is to symbolically, add an out…

Dear Anon, 1. If your daughter has often has health problems, and staying all the time in your existing home, proper use of Feng Shui should be able to look at and diagnose the problem. 2. In my opinion, I also had a few cases, perhaps, one may call it a coincidence, but in these two homes, where there is a large missing corner at SE, and where, the couple had daugthers, -- perhaps, I have to say that it is a real coincidence... that it matched your situation. 3. In my opinion, the main concern is the missing corner. And it can be compounded by the wrong stars flying at the sector. Usually, the problem or issue here is the missing corner and it can be difficult to re-dre…

Dear Yang Ming, 1. In my opinion, even if we are unable to keep a distance of 2 feet or more, it is not a worrying concern, as symbolically, we can still keep smaller distances. 2. In many of the previous queires related to the same topic as yours, there are many people who have also faced same problems and even a distance or gap of a few centremetres is still ok. 3. Depending on your layout plan, where possible the kitchen should not be too close to the door, if the knobs on the stove point towards or out of it. 4. The main objective of this `exercise' is to try and keep the warmth in the home. It also depends on the compass direction of the kitchen. If the kitchen is …

Dear Tony, Usually, in most instances, each home or sector can be influenced by `seasonal' Feng Shui. Here, most probably, the wrong set of `stars' either congregate at your bedroom or a combination of some bad stars are around. Most likely this is the case. And depending on the combination of stars, it may be the monthly or yearly star combinations. Or alternatively, it has been a known fact that watercoures or even water close-by could emit minute traces of e.g. positive ions. Which is not beneficial to the body. We call this `invisible' vapours. While negative ions are beneficial, positive ions, similar to this situation in the long term may not be ideal:- Reference: …

Dear Anon, If your bedroom is in the East and that your house has been either built within 1984 to-date or any major renovation of an existing home within this period, most likely, the house will be affected by this " Five Yellow " star. The cure usually depends on the Flying Star Feng Shui analysis and the direction of your main entrance door direction. Under the Flying Star Feng Shui, there are a total of 24 directions. And a house main door depending on its direction can be situated at anyone of the 24 directions. Most of the Period 7 house have a compounding problem where the 20 year flying star may have " Bad Five Yellow " and coincidentally, another Bad Five Yello…

Dear Yew-Meng, 1. Overall, the chief concern of the White-Tiger is in-effect symbolism. 2. Here, the worst senario is to have a water position "above it". Especially a circular pool or pond. 3. One can than imagine, the `flat' pool of water as simply the open `hungry' mouth of the tiger. This is inauspicious as it `needs food' or nurishment. 4. As for the underground electricial cables, in my opinion, I feel that it is not a threat at all. The White tiger is not exactly bad. We are more concerned with it's upper part of the body i.e. the head (especially it's mouth) that can do the most damage. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Lloyd, In many instances, a bedroom over a garage is not an issue - related to sleep or health problems. Ideally, you may have to check the direction of your bedroom location. If this is a Period 7 house, currently sectors that has health related problems are at either East or South or other sectors depending on the compass direction of the main door - Flying Star theory. Warmest Regards, Cecil
