Dear Judy, Thanks for the picture of the layout plan. 1. Yes, you can use an ordinary compass. 2. In the past, I had investigated many years back the `long houses' especially in parts of East Malaysia. These long houses, even when they were made of wood had unusual compass readings where the readings internally vary in different compartments. 3. I hope you don't mind if you can: 3.1 Go to a barren land or an open space near to your home. And take a compass reading perhaps from different areas. (Becareful of some open space as it may be littered with (hidden) such as thrown away metal etc... 3.2 Goto the different "compartment" and take the compass reading to check if the…

Dear Anil, 1. For the sector, if it is out of balance, then #5 and #2 should be cured. Before this, it is looking at the three Mountain #, Water # and Base # together. 2. Applying the concept of " If one cannot see it; it no longer becomes a threat ". In such a situation, you may want to use e.g. day curtain to solve the problem. But if you prefer to open the curtain; one good remedy is the use of Two forks: Please see the attached illustration below. (Note: for those who participate thru this forum using mailing list, you may have to log in to the forum to view this graphic as all attachments are not sent thru the mailing list option.) Dear Anon, For kitchen `Feng Shui', there are several `rule-sets' or guidelines: 1. Where possible, the fire stove should face inwards (into the house). This implies that there is `warmth' in the house. 2. Under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, it is not as good if the stove face outwards of the house. 3. Where possible, the stove, should be an auspicious sector - for the `women' of the house. But since you are a Male and if you are living alone - it should (preferably) still be located at an auspicious sector. 4. If there is no ventilation hood and if there is a ceiling beam that presses against the stove, this is inauspicious. 5. It is equally inauspicious if an exposed water…

Dear Cecil, My bedroom door is not facing my mom's door. In this case, can I hang or place anything in my bedroom so that my mom doesn't get angry with me so easily? BTW, she only gets angry or furious with me and not with other 3 children. I'm the 2nd daughter, with an elder sister and 2 younger brothers. I think it's the Chinese culture where the second daughter is born to be hated. My last hope is Feng Shui. Please advise.

Dear Wendy, Due to many queries about the type of Ba Gua mirror to use, I have compiled information on the various types. You need to log in to the forum and go to this conference: Photo Tours of Interest (with pictures). Look for the recent messages, e.g. Part I, Part II, and Part III, where I not only list a description of each type but also show pictures of them. Based on the above, you should use the type mentioned under Part I – Ba Gua mirrors. The models applicable for your case are Model A, B, C, or D type of Ba Gua mirror, especially if there is a sharp corner or angle of another building pointing towards your main entrance door. The above fi…

Dear Wendy, 1. In my opinion, it is too general to say that since the door is at SW, we should paint it according to the colour. 2. In THEORY or technically speaking, you can do that. 3. But the question here is what do one try to achieve? 4. In many questions asked, Thank God!, that nowadays, many users no longer ask me this one line question like: Where is my wealth sector? Which I do not reply to at all. 5. This is very relevant to the above question. If we use the Five Elements concept to explain wealth. 6. Under the Five Elements concept, wealth is created using the Destructive Cycle:- Reference: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm Where und…

Dear Donna, Apologise, but if you can provide a rough sketch which includes: 1. Location of : main gate; from the gate to the main entrance. Or photo (nice to have) 2. Where is the main door and a sketch of the outline of the house and what is on each side and back of the house. I hope u can understand that no two homes may be similar and I personally feel, the more the detail provided, the better it is to have a better understanding of your situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Wasis, 1. You asked a very interesting question. 2. For those who have studied Management subjects: the term " Situational Approach " or " It Depends ". What this means is that it is felt that not two cases are the same. We have to depend on the situation and each situation may vary. Please see below:- To cure #5, #2, #4 and #5; the MOST EFFECTIVE cure is BIG METAL. For #5, (STRONG METAL) it is a " bad, bad boy" and the best cure is to use a 6 rod, metal windchime. For #3, (STRONG WOOD) it is also highly recommended to use the constant chime 6 rod wind chime (symbolically) to `hammer' it like akin to constantly smashing it. Similarily, moving metal such as 6 rod…

Dear Gerry, Thank you for raising a pertinent question, particularly for new users in this forum. 1. It is traditionally beneficial to comprehend why the Chinese utilize the compass with TOP representing the South and BOTTOM representing the North. 2. Upon closer examination, it is evident that China is situated in the Northern Hemisphere, where the majority of mountain ranges are located in the North. 3. For those who have visited Beijing, the capital of China, it is common to observe that many houses have their windows and main doors oriented towards the South. Furthermore, the absence of windows on the North side is attributed to the dusty storms of…

Dear Anon, Please see below:- In my opinion, it would be more appropriate for your office to be located at South-West (living room). Looks like North-West is the dining room so may not be appropriate or not as advisable. West is a possibility (2nd choice to SW). But in terms of these three alternatives, SW is still the best. Please e-mail privately to robert-lee@geomancy.net with your member's login account e.g. abc@def.com (password not necessary) so that we can credit you with a complimentary auspicious date report). Dear Sor Lan, 1. What you had mentioned is a popular practise by the Cantonese dialect group. This popularity is based on the belief as what you had mentioned; that a mirror used in the hope that it can reflect `double' the luck. 2. We can (on a less scientific level) base it on feelings. However, if one uses more scientific methods such as The Flying Star Fen g Shui, where one uses it to determine if a sector is auspicious or not. If it is inauspicious, then, it is strongly felt that one should not place a mirror at that sector or we may inadvertenly bounce back twice the bad luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Anon Please see attached sketch for a better understanding of a poison arrow aimed at the main door. Apologies for the rough sketch. Just look at the concept. Here there are two issues: 1. the narrow corridor where the lift faces the main door. This is Sha Qi and can be cured with two plants placed strategically at the location. 2. I did not properly draw the angle at which the corridor aims at the main door but if it does it is a poison arrow. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Susan, 1. If one asks quite alot of different FS practitioners, the chances are many will say it is a (NO NO) to have a mirror face the bed. A BELIEF: 2. The reason or (BELIEF) is that because, it was felt that when we sleep, our spirits "wonder-out" of our body and it may get a shock seeing one's self in the mirror. This is the rationale why many FS practitioners way say that it is bad for a mirror to face the bed. 3. It is interesting to note the survey results in this poll section: http://www.geomancy.net/poll/poll.pl In the above link; you can look thru the results for the following poll questions: a. If your TV set is facing the bed, do you cover the screen bef…

Dear Mina, 1. Chinese Astrology (Zi Wei Dou Shu), Eight House Theory, Flying Star Theory, Pillars of Destiny all these major theories uses Chinese Lunar calendar system for their calculation. 2. In authentic Chinese methodology such as Chinese Astrology, Eight House and Flying Star all reference to one's Chinese Lunar calendar. 3. Xia (Hsia) or Chinese Solar calendar is used mainly to define season. And in Pillars of Destiny, this is one portion of the calculation. For example, to define the season of birth i.e. when you were born what season it happen to be at that time. 4. As mentioned above, all other major calculations of Pillars of Destiny uses the Chinese Lunar cal…

Dear Ben, Yes, if it is a Ba Gua mirrior, it is indeed octagon shape and not round. But, the one that is normally used for your rental home, should be red/green in colour - (usually with a flat mirror). Alternatively, try to get one with the ba gua mirror and the picture with a door god below it. For the time being, you can use a circular mirror. The best time to hang the mirror is:- 1st choice - the 1st day of any lunar month. (Preferably on any months other than the 7th lunar month). The good dates to hang the Ba Gua mirror is:- January 27, 2002 - 12th Lunar Month The 1st of each Lunar Month is also considered a good date to hang it. Alternatively, a more personalised …

Dear Anon, 1. The word "Hai" refers to the term " Water " 2. If it is a dragon, the word behind the sculpture should instead be " LONG " or dragon 3. For the word " SU " Chinese characters or words close to it. So, here, it can mean many things. What is the relationship of the Serpent and Dragon in Chinese beliefs? It is said that in Chinese folk lore, after 500 years of exisitence a SEA SERPENT transform and becomes a SCALY Dragon. Another transformation is after 1000 years when this SCALY Dragon becomes a horned Dragon. Again after another 1000 years, it becomes a Dragon with wings. In my opinion, your figure has this saying: "Encourage one to be diligent" *JOKE* Not su…

Dear Anon, You can make use of the Free tools provided at http://www.geomancy-online.com Use the Eight House and eight house related tools to help. More importantly, when u use this theory, please follow the steps here:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm In your search of a new home using this theory, try to: 1. Find how suitable the house is to the breadwinner. The most unsuitable houses for the breadwinner is the `death' or `disaster' sector. 2. Next, do a Eight House chart for all family members and visualise i.e. look out what intangible forces are there for each family members and where they can stay. For example, for the husband and wife, check to see how the ho…

Dear Christina, Thanks for the detailed information. If you have contacted a doctor and most likely he/she has confirmed that everything seems OK, if properly applied Feng Shui can help. Especially using the Flying Star Feng Shui to look at the overall situation. Other disciples includes analysing you and your husband's Pillars of destiny to improve on the " Heaven Luck ". Currently, the Horse Year is not favourable in particular especially to the Rat person. Who is born in the years - 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984 and 1996. In the Chinese animal signs "zodiac" from the attached picture, it is interesting to note that the animal opposite each other has the `greatest' …

Dear Christina As mentioned in the earlier e-mail; sometimes we may need to move out especially if the house is not as suitable to the breadwinners. However, we try not to comment further. A competent FS practitioner can usually help to identify the situation. If it is due to some things that can be corrected, then, it may help. As no two situations are alike; it is hard for me to mentioned it. I can recall, situations where; if it is really due to the location and `normal' FS is unable to "cure or correct this "; especially in situations where people face real situations of financial problems. In this situation, they are prepared to `swallow' the bitter pill such as sel…

Dear Deepti, Frankly, I am not too familar or aware of any good Feng Shui practitioner in India. Perhaps, you can try to check your yellow pages and see if there is a Chinese practitioner in your country and find out more if he/she is willing to teach you. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Isabel, Thank you for your clarification. 1. Yes, you should stand at the centrepoint or use the template from the centrepoint of the house. 2. There are some resources at this URL to further help you how to do so:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Alan, 1. The first approach is to use the Eight House Theory. This theory is quite interesting because: 1.1. It is used to find out " How suitable a house is to the breadwinner ". 1.2. Next, we look at the layout plan of the house and where the location of the bedrooms are for each person i.e. Husband, wife and children. For example, we try to find out what are the "intangible forces" at each bedroom. Thus, it would be advantages if the sectors in each room e.g. Master bedroom (Husband and wife) and other bed rooms suit each indivdual members of the house. 2. The various reports which you can generate under: http://www.geomancy-online.com are totally Free. This inc…

Dear Cecil, Thank you for your most informative feedback. I have to admit, I have visited Lillian Too's website a few times and noticed that she now has a "FS jewelry" being sold online. I was flabbergasted when I saw that. I immediately questioned her integrity. FS jewelries, of all things.......what's next, FS make-up or FS nail polish line? What color would give you luck on a job interview????? Anyway, I will look into the books/authors you mentioned. Thank you again very much and hope you continue to share proper information.

Dear Charles, It is best to look at two charts and see which is the better chart. As the Flying Star or the birth chart of the house differs in each door direction. Yes, if you are `changing' the door or using a backdoor to become a main door, then, you can do so. 1. However, this existing backdoor should not be smaller than your present main door. 2. It should open inwards, 3. If the main door has two doors (left and right) - it is best to have this configuration. 4. The new `main door' should also have the house number placed on it. 5. Preferably an auspicious date be chosen for the work to be carried out. Warmest Regards, Cecil
