As Feng Shui or Chinese divinity methods, emcompass a wide field especially for a company. In addition, the bed should be placed in a favourable position. The study table should face the child's good direction. (All these come under the Eight House theory). Dear Hiii, The origin of this has more to do with commonsense than Feng Shui as traditional Chinese homes do not have a bedroom above the kitchen. (Especially if the is built on wooden material). Therefore, this is more of a commonsense that has been added to Feng Shui in modern times. As we are aware, fire moves or spread upwards or thru an opening e.g. windows. Which may reach the upper floors. Here, it would make more sense to `invest' in smoke detectors i.e. in the kitchen (which should be loud enough) to warn anyone staying in the home. Dear Himanshu, You should follow the graphical representation as shown below:- When a direction is WEST, you should read it as this way depending on where you are applying it:- 1. Working direction you should be in the position where WEST is your front while EAST is your back. 2. Sleeping position, is where you head is pointing to the WEST and feet to the EAST. 3. Bedroom location where the room is located to the WEST of the house. Dear Laurelle, I agree that there can be `contradictions' in the application of Feng Shui. Should we place plants in the home? Even if one's element is for example an Earth person. We should also look at the external environment i.e. `threats'. `Threats' is an important component in how we apply Feng Shui. For example, if there is a threat to the main entrance... we try to neutralise it by using an element that destroys it. Dear Lars, Thank you for bringing up an interesting question. I can understand your plight in wanting to try to apply the various FS theories. In previous forum messages, I tried to elaborate that priority should be given especially to the `Shapes and Forms' with regards to the location of the position of bed. Therefore, priority should be given to the `proper' placement of the bed. In your situation, although one's altar and mediation table is on opposite wall as the toilet; although it would be `nice' to change the location, but if it does adversely affect the `proper' positioning of the bed, do not do so. Since u mentioned that the house is directly at South or (I assume is 180 degrees) you can generate the Free Finding a Good House Report which can help you check whether it is a good direction or not. Dear BND, Most of the time, as an individual we want our individual apratment accessed. In such a situation, the front door is the door of your individual unit. (NOT the main entrance of the building). Usually, when the front door of the main building is being accessed, this is often done by a Feng Shui practitioner for the building owner. The question I often ask myself is: How is it that each and everyone's SW is the marriage and romance corner? It is not possible especially if everyone tries to `enhance the sector. 3. Dear Brenda, The Flying Star School of Feng Shui (Compass School) Feng Shui uses numerology such as #1 to #9. #2 is associated with Sickness #5 is associated with Misfortune Both #2 and #5 represents the EARTH element. Dear Brenda, Usually, the specific sector is looked at before, providing comments i.e. particularly using Flying Star to check on the elements at that sector with the hope that it is balanced. Paying `homage' to a sector i.e. North = career may not be the right thing to do. Dear Brenda, Generally, it should not pose any problems with the light yellow comforter. (Especially if or there are no #5 or #2 in the sector). Perhaps, you can monitor the situation i.e. for any health related problems or sickness. (Within 1 month of using it) If there is, none of the above, it is fine. Dear Julia, Frankly, there is not much one can enhance in a small apartment. Where possible, try to make it as `cosy' as possible depending on the one's needs. Needs depend on:- Whether the apartment is used as a `haven' to return to after busy work schedule or used partially for sleep and study.
