HDB Tanglin Halt Cascadia (Oct 2023 Build-To-Order)



Tanglin Halt Cascadia  is bounded by Commonwealth Drive and the Rail Corridor, a 24km long recreational corridor that connects the north and south of Singapore. The project is offered under the Prime Location Public Housing (PLH) model, and comprises 4 residential blocks. The 2 taller blocks range from 34 to 47 storeys, while the other 2 blocks are between 10 to 25 storeys. The staggered height of the blocks, and the project’s location gave inspiration to its name. Residents can choose from 973 units of 3- and 4-room flats.

Located within the Health District @ Queenstown, Tanglin Halt Cascadia boasts a variety of recreational and communal facilities that enhance residents’ physical, social, and mental well-being. These include playgrounds for children, as well as fitness stations for adults and the elderly. The sky terraces and roof gardens at the residential blocks and atop the Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP) are ideal spots for residents to mingle and interact with one another, or simply to unwind and relax. Residents can also exercise along the adjacent Rail Corridor. A preschool will be located within Tanglin Halt Cascadia, bringing convenience to families with young children.

About Queenstown and Health District @ Queenstown
Tanglin Halt Cascadia is located within the Health District @ Queenstown, a first-of-its-kind multiple stakeholder collaboration project to create integrated solutions that will enhance the health and well-being of residents across their life stages. This is in line with HDB’s ‘Designing for Life’ roadmap, which places the holistic well-being of residents at its core. The Health District @ Queenstown will take shape through more integrated planning and design of Queenstown that is informed by scientific evidence, and community-driven programmes that support residents in leading healthier and more productive lives. Healthcare amenities within the Health District @ Queenstown include Queenstown Polyclinic, Alexandra Hospital, and National University Hospital.

Residents at Tanglin Halt Cascadia can enjoy a wide variety of food and shopping options in the vicinity and near Commonwealth MRT station, such as the Tanglin Halt Market and Food Centre. Residents can also head to Commonwealth Crescent Market and Food Centre, as well as Mei Ling Heights Market and Food Centre for more hawker fare and fresh produce. Various shopping malls such as Anchorpoint Shopping Centre and The Star Vista are located within the town. Visit Where2Shop@HDB to discover more HDB heartland shops in this area.

If residents are keen to pick up new hobbies, they can participate in the activities and classes provided at Queenstown Community Centre and Buona Vista Community Club. Case Study 2: HDB Tanglin Halt Cascadia uses the Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System (PWCS)

Try to avoid buying especially a low floor unit at Block 75A


Such a system needs utmost co-operation from residents in the development to avoid blockages and thus avoid prolong clogged system and thus smells etc...

Feng Shui suffers a bad reputation, today.

Many Feng Shui Masters are a Feng Shui Store. Their core business is not authentic Feng Shui.
But rather making big bucks by selling lots of useless commercial products in the name of Feng Shui.

Please give me a good reason not to buy such products. Here's one:



Okay, the above was written prior to the knowledge of COV-19. Here’s to another reason, why.

Is the Sales Brochure Useful?


Introduction: For brand new just launched developments, there is no physical site to visit the completed buildings and apartments. 

1. The only thing we can do is to visit the show room (which often is close-by to the site) as well as obtain a sales brochure and see the mock-up of the development. As well as try to ask questions from the sales agent (if any).

1.1. We must still try to gather as much information as we can.

2. Summary of Case Studies in this article.

3. It is always an excellent idea to spent some time to scrutinise a prospective sales brochure of our potential buy (purchase).

5. A year ago; many had purchased a premium unit within the development .. and later shocked to learn that the central rubbish chute (for their entire floor) is just next to their main door!

6. Thus the morale of the story is to check first before signing on the dotted line.

7. In general, most developments have these:-

8.1. A central rubbish collection centre / rubbish bin collection point

8.2. Power Sub-station. Every development usually has one or more of these depending on the size of the development.

8.3. Design of club-house roof-lines / trellis / gazebo / pavilion. Are the designs a "threat" e.g. with spikes or like a razor's edge? Usually these are aimed towards lower storeys.

8.4. Any poison arrows in the form of a sharp corner of another block of neighbouring stack aimed towards one's balcony (hard to cure) or towards one's windows (if any)

8.5. Location of areas like BBQ pits and any impact e.g. the smell from these pits towards a unit.. especially low storeys such as #01  or #02 first or second storeys

8.6. Any tree trunk aimed towards a lower unit e.g. #01 or #02. Unfortunately it may be too late; especially if the development is under construction.

9. There are lots more considerations...  

9.1. Do remember "Read in-between" the lines..
