I like to confirm the compass direction.

Hello,
I am trying to get the compass barring correct for my apartment. The online example has the building plan horizontally to the North, however, my apartment plan is slightly tilted to north. Please correct me whether my attach drawing is drawn correctly? Or should I move my center to vertically facing North?
Also, I intend to keep a terrapin in the NW balcony (see diagram). Is that the best location?
Thank you always.
Jon

Dear Jon,
Please note that the example provided in under
http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm is only an example.
Here are some guidelines:-
1. Always take a reading from outside the house. E.g. on a vacant plot and
take a compass reading.
2. Remember not to wear jewellery. And even if you take a reading on a
vacant plot, remember that there may be some metallic objects buried under
it. So best to move around the area outside the house and take several
readings.
3. What happens if the readings differ slightly, you should instead use the
readings taken outside the house. In my own experience, as I use a rather
expensive surveyor's compass, it is quite unaffected by metallic objects
inside or outside the house.
After you have taken a reading, you should by now know where the North to
South orientation of the house.
4. Next superimpose our template on the layout plan with the North to South
orientation.
Currently I am writing from an e-mail client, if you have correctly uploaded
the image, it will be in the Forum. Will check it out soonest.
5. As for a terrapin, here you may have to use `intuitive' Feng Shui based
on your personal feelings as there as not much information for me to work on
as you have not done a `real' FS assessment at your end to advise me on the
`readings' etc...
But frankly, such a small `pet' has not much impact unless you are having a
large aquarium in the house.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Compass readings change depending on where you take them.

Compass readings are different in each place because magnetic north and true north are not the same. Knowing how to get correct readings is important for using Flying Star Feng Shui properly.

Compass readings change depending on where you are because magnetic north and true north do not match in every location. This difference, called magnetic declination, means a compass can point to a slightly different direction from place to place. For Flying Star Feng Shui, it’s important to take accurate compass readings at your specific location so you can apply Feng Shui correctly.

Just because you took some readings and appear to be that reading time and time again....
