Applications of 5-Element Cures

Recommended Posts

G'day,
I believe I understand the basics of the 5 elements, the production / destruction cycles and all that.
I am still confused about the applications of the cures. FYI, I am focusing on balancing my Strong Fire and I understand that Water, Metal and Earth are useful to me. I am confused about these:
1. Water destroys Fire.
Water also produces Wood that produces Fire.
So, how can one tell whether the water-cure applied is actually destroying Fire or producing Wood? I mean, is there a precedence in this (e.g. Water would destroy Fire first and only the excess water would produce Wood) ?
2. Metal produces Water that destroys Fire.
Metal in turn is also destroyed by Fire.
So, how does this cure work?
How could one know the Metal would produces Water (and destroys Fire) before itself being destroyed by Fire?
3. Earth balances Fire through exhausting it. Earth also produces Metal that is destroyed by Fire.
If Earth, Metal and Fire all exist, what will happen? Fire produces Earth; Earth produces Metal; Fire also destroys Metal.
4. Applications of the cures:
With Water: black/grey/blue clothing, water scenery painting, etc
With Metal: jewelry, white/silver clothing, etc
With Earth: What should be done to exhaust the Fire to produce Earth?
5. Are Jade and other precious stones (Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire, Crystals, etc) considered Earth?
I understand that because of Symbolism, a pyramid crystal is considered Fire.
With these questions, I hope that you could understand what I am confused about. Kindly enlighten. TQ.
Rose

G'day,
I believe I understand the basics of the 5 elements, the production /
destruction cycles and all that.
I am still confused about the applications of the cures. FYI, I am
focusing on balancing my Strong Fire and I understand that Water, Metal and
Earth are useful to me. I am confused about these:
1. Water destroys Fire.
Water also produces Wood that produces Fire.
So, how can one tell whether the water-cure applied is actually
destroying Fire or producing Wood? I mean, is there a precedence in this
(e.g. Water would destroy Fire first and only the excess water would produce
Wood) ?

You see water does two things at any one time. Once it will normally help
the wood first. This means that by the time it completed producing wood, it
is pretty weak to destroy Fire. In your case I believe you told me that you
are Strong Fire, right? So the best cure for you is exhausting your strong
fire by using Earth. Alternatively, you can also use Metal which in turn
destroy wood weakening its ability to strengthen your fire. However, the
best cure which I noticed is still Earth. This is because Fire destroys
Metal, so end up the metal cure which you apply may not work at all or very
little influence.

Quote
2. Metal produces Water that destroys Fire.
Metal in turn is also destroyed by Fire.
So, how does this cure work?
How could one know the Metal would produces Water (and destroys Fire)
before itself being destroyed by Fire?

Metal will produce Water. This is the princple of the Five Element, once
Metal helps to produce the Water, Water is in turn strengthen. Once Water is
Strengthen it will be strong enough to destroy Fire, even after exhausting
itself when producing wood.

Quote
3. Earth balances Fire through exhausting it. Earth also produces Metal
that is destroyed by Fire.
If Earth, Metal and Fire all exist, what will happen? Fire produces
Earth; Earth produces Metal; Fire also destroys Metal.

This creates a special balance. Where especially Strong Fire. When this
combination comes into play, you can say that you are pretty balanced by the
surrounding elements. Which is what Five Element is all about = Balance.

4. Applications of the cures:
With Water: black/grey/blue clothing, water scenery painting, etc
With Metal: jewelry, white/silver clothing, etc
With Earth: What should be done to exhaust the Fire to produce Earth?

Fire will automically help Earth as long as there is earth elements objects
around. Like if say you are eating, only when there is food around will you
want to eat right? Similarily, only when there is Earth can Fire be
exhausted into producing Earth.

Quote
5. Are Jade and other precious stones (Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire, Crystals,
etc) considered Earth?
I understand that because of Symbolism, a pyramid crystal is considered
Fire.

Yes, the shape of the objects often takes precedence over the colour of the
object.
Warmest Regards

Dear Cecil & Robert,
Further to the ongoing discussion on the 5 elements, may I ask when a =certain element is good or bad for you if that certain element is a =neutral element. Let me expound:
I'm weak earth person, therefore fire and earth are favorable to me. =Wood and water are unfavorable. What about Metal? According to my 4 =pillars report, it is NEUTRAL.
The way I understand neutral is that it can be good or it can be bad. =Good when the metal destroys the unfavorable wood. Bad when the metal =exhausts my already weak earth. It depends then on what action metal =will take in my life.
Which brings me to my question above: When is it good and when is it =bad? How will I know the difference? Like today, May 8 is a day of =metal over metal (geng over shen), right? Will it be a good day for me =or a bad day? If bad, how must I counter it?
Hope you can enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

Yes, which is why normally I consider metal in your situation as neutral.
Why? Simply because you are earth, in the cycle metal plays exhaution role.
In another scenario it plays as destroying wood (your destruction element).
In another role it plays as supporting to water. So you see at any one time
an element has at least 3 different roles.
It is good for you if you are strong, why? Because if you are strong earth,
although using wood can destroy earth, but on the other hand wood also give
birth to fire which in turn give birth to earth so not a very good solution.
Instead I normally recommendt metal because metal will exhaust the earth,
without adding additional influences to fire or earth.
In any case, what is more importance it balance.

Which brings me to my question above: When is it good and when is it =bad?
How will I know the difference? Like today, May 8 is a day of =metal over

metal (geng over shen), right? Will it be a good day for me =or a bad day?
If bad, how must I counter it?
If you put it in this way, that means that at any one hour, your influence
also changes right? So is it pratical for you to keep changing your cures
every hour? For that matter every day? I think for such changes. It is
sufficient to take into account 10-year, 5-year, yearly. Maybe even monthly
(which will be added in the future revision).
What is more important is trying to acheive balance in your element. It is
not easy to achive true balance. At most we can only achieve seemly balance
stage. If you notice your pillars, each element also represent a certain
deity right? What happens if you only have 1 out of 10 deities? This means
that you cannot enjoy a balance of all the other influence in your life.
This means that even if you are weak earth, it is still a must to have some
wood in your life to control your earth which may be too strong at times. So
having a balance of element is the "best" for everyone. No one can say that
they life their life 100% perfect right? Lets take a business for example.
If you have not failed before do you think you can succeed? You learn from
your mistakes and take the best out of it right?
So Feng Shui principles are similar if you can relate them. It gives you a
slightly different perspective at looking at objects etc. Which is why Feng
Shui is often termed as harmony with your environment. Knowing the influence
does help you. But in any case, knowing about the influence allows you to
make full use of it. In order to make it work, you yourself have to play an
important part.
For example, if you have a wealth deity in your chart, but you do not work
hard to utilise it, do you think that wealth will fall into you hands? Or
will it go away?
Ponder upon what I said and when you do understand it, you will know how you
can acheive your own personal balance. No one can help you except yourself.
Feng Shui can only do so much as to let you see thing in a different
perspective, the rest is up to you.
Warmest Regards
Robert Lee
