Administrator
Hi Everyone,Let me share with you two simple observations. It is based on my ownpersonal experience and in my opinion, you can try it out to see if it`fits' you:-A. If I want to practise Feng Shui can you tell whether I am more inclinedto practise the Shapes and Form School or the mathematics side such as theFlying Star Theory.I need to ask you a question:Do you enjoy figures e.g. logic, mathematics or the sciences or moreinclined to the spatial e.g. art, imagination and prefer to express yourselfusing graphics and pictures? If you are more inclined to enjoy the spatial e.g. seeing both words andenjoy pictures you most likely are one who will feel more comfortable usingthe Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui.On the other hand, if you enjoy figures e.g. maths, then most likely if youare considering practising Feng Shui is more inclined towards using themathematics side of Feng Shui e.g. the Flying Star Theory. In Feng Shui,If you are a "Left Brain person" - you are considered more YIN person andmore inclined towards the languages, science, mathematics, logic. If you are a "Right Brain person" - you are considered more YANG person andmore inclined towards imagination, the art, spatial, dance and enjoy toexpress yourself in graphics. Here, if you are inclined as a " Left Brain person ", most likely if you are`taking' up Feng Shui, prefer the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. Here, if you are inclined as a " Right Brain person ", most likely if youare `taking' up Feng Shui, prefer using the Flying Star Compass School ofFeng Shui.Well this entirely based on my personal observation. For example (I may be right or wrong but this is what I know based on theFeng Shui Author's style of writing a book):-I feel that Raymond Lo, Master Joseph Yu are more inclinded towards themathematics side of Feng Shui. For example, Raymond Lo specializes in thePillars of Destiny while Master Joseph Yu, into the Flying Star. While, I feel that Lillian Too, is more inclined towards expressing herselfpartially in graphics and words and thus more into the Shapes and FormSchool.Personally, I am more inclined to the Shapes and Form School while Robert ismore inclined towards the mathematics side.B. From my research, I believe that there is another factor involved. Youcan check this out using the Pillars of Destiny.Do count the number of YIN and the number of YANG in your Eight Pillars. Ifyou have more YIN, most likely, you are again more inclined towards theShape and Form School of Feng Shui. If you have more YANG elements, moreinclined to the mathematics side of Feng Shui. Please note that like other theories, I prefer to use the word " moreinclined " because unlike a continuum e.g. there are no extremes of hot orcold i.e. totally using only one or the other. What you can learn from the above is to choose your style and not getfrustrated into learning or forcing yourself to learn both methods. Believeme if you are a person with lots of YIN e.g. at least 5 or more YINelements, you candevelop your intuition skills well. Let me share with you. I am a very YINperson and through the years, I believe have increased my intuitive skills. Many a times, I can sense a home or office and only use the Compass methodse.g. Flying Star to confirm. Most of the time, I do get it correct. The only time I had a problem waswhen I evaluated an office. Thsi company has a two units of three storeyoffice side by side. Here, I had to depend on the Flying Star chart toconfirm my findings. This is similar to the West where if you had noticed some US Universitiesare more inclined to the Right Brain `students' e.g. Havard University. While MIT, USA is more inclined towards the mathematics side.Overall, this is why I feel that those who are more YIN and the Right Brainperson has an added advantage as they could where possible `develop' theirintuitive skills and only rely on the mathematics side of Feng Shui forconfirmation. This is why I had discussed this with Robert and he felt that those who areof the Left Brain plus more YANG, would have to rely on mathematics side ofFeng Shui as they are `less' able to rely on the intuitive Form of FengShui.Well, do take note that the above is based on my personal opinion andobservations. What I hope to do is later to create a voting booth and ask users the abovequestions and see a general voting trend. It would be quite interesting:)If you have anything to add or want to share your views, do let me know:)Warmest Regards,CecilThe above is (C) Cecil Lee, 1999 - The L and R Theory of Feng Shui -->
mksay
Intriguing! It is true.I have always thought that I am more a "Left-Brain" person. I have never associated that with the Yin and Yang aspect.I did a count on the # of Yang / Yin elements on my Pillars. It confirms that. I have 6 Yang elements and only 2 Yin elements. Oops! That seems very unbalanced! Besides balancing our 5-elements, do we also need to balance the Yin and Yang? How to?best regards,Rose

Administrator
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.------=_NextPart_000_0062_01BE9ED3.98E057C0Content-Type: text/plain;charset="iso-8859-1"Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bitDear Glyn,As the Yin and Yang concept is currently available i.e."Left Brain person" should be more YANG"Right Brain person" should be more YINall I have done is to go further indepth by linking the above to the`preferred' style or inclination to the style of Feng Shui which I call it "L and R Theory of Feng Shui. "Based on the above theory, there are two parts to it. Here, the moreimportant point relates to whether you are better able to express yourselfdiagramatically or more inclinded to use only words. For example, if you attend a small course and if there are presentations, you will notice that some course participants prefer to use a mixture ofwords and graphics to express themselves. While another person may only usewords. Here, based on my personal analysis, the person who uses a mixture of wordsand graphics tend to be using their `Right Brain' or spatial side more thanthen a `left brain person'.This is the more important of the two parts of the L and R Theory. For the second part of the theory, if you are like me very YIN e.g. 6 YINout of 8 elements of the pillars, I prefer more graphics with a mix ofwords. While Robert is like yourself well balanced and equally comfortablewith both. But he still has a preference for words. For the second part of the theory, it needs to be looked into further. Butunder Feng Shui, you can suppose `estimate' a person who is either more Yinor more Yang. Like Robert, he does equally well with both Shapes and Formand the mathematics side of Feng Shui. For yourself, I am very pleased that with the amount of correspondence youhad with me and Robert, you are equally good at both Shapes and Form and themathematics side. In addition to this, you are well -read and this makes avast difference in the way you see things:)I strongly recommend that if you need good reliable Feng Shui Audit doneparticulary in Australia or in Perth, please contact Glyn:)Warmest Regards,CecilIn your case, you are similar with Robert who can do both equally well:)-----Original Message-----From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'flying-star' suppressed suppressed>Date: Saturday, May 15, 1999 11:21 AMSubject: Yin/Yang Quote From: "glyn hezakiah" This message is sent from "flying-star" Mailing List. This is a multi-part message in MIME format.------=_NextPart_000_002E_01BE9EC5.E7AA5BC0Content-Type: text/plain;charset="iso-8859-1"Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printableInteresting theory Cecil.I have 4 yin, 4 yang in my chart. Administrator
Dear Rose,Yes, I am particularly impressed with your keen observation which if we lookat it, belongs more to Yang. As a more `Yin' person I feel is less likely to`notice' such errors.Robert will credit you and privately e-mail you for a second credit to allowyou to generate the two directions. As for a person who is more Yin or more Yang, this belongs to a veryexciting field of other Chinese Yin and Yang theories which include food. For example, cooking techniques e.g. smoking fish etc.., baking stewing anddeepfrying are more towards Yang and uncooked food, steaming are more Yin.Chinese culture is vast and later on, we will also go into such areas andeven I-Ching.One other thing is that from my understanding of the L and R Theory, themore Yin you are, the more one can develop higher `intuitive' skills. Forexample, one Feng Shui practising Master asked me whether I find GrandMaster Yap Cheng Hai uses `orthodox' Feng Shui. My reply is that most likelyhe is more Yin person and through the years, may have cultivated his`intuitive' skills to the highest level. Personally, for me, quite often, nowadays, I feel that I can sense more and more and usually what I had`forecasted' does take place. The good thing is that those who are more Yin should not only use theirintuitive skills but cross reference it to the compass school techniques andsurprisingly, most of the time, my feelings are similiar to those of theFlying Star most of the time. Unless the two units are so close by ... here,I need the Flying Star Chart to confirm which units are better.I encourage all users here to be well-read and do not ever become so fixedto learning only one technique and calling this the BEST. Not only will youbecome a laughing stock but miss out the benefits of other techniques.Worse still, Feng Shui is akin to playing with Fire or GOD. People trust youto do a proper evaluation. But many a times, the outcome may turn out worse.Warmest Regards,Cecil-----Original Message-----From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'flying-star' suppressed suppressed>Date: Saturday, May 15, 1999 11:09 AMSubject: The L and R Theory -Reply Quote From: mksay@resorts.po.myThis message is sent from "flying-star" Mailing List.Dear Cecil,Was that a typo or I understood it wrongly?"Left Brain person" should be more YANG, while"Right Brain person" should be more YIN, right?Roselistmana@JARING (Listmanager) {listmanager@forum.geomancy.net}14/May/1999 09:41pm >>>From: "Cecil Lee"In Feng Shui,If you are a "Left Brain person" - you are considered more YIN personandmore inclined towards the languages, science, mathematics, logic. If you are a "Right Brain person" - you are considered more YANGperson andmore inclined towards imagination, the art, spatial, dance and enjoy toexpress yourself in graphics. -->
