Hi robert,
I live in the apartment building and it has
only one main door. But the basement is really cluttered filled with broken appliances and metal and broken doors. Does it affect the feng shui of the entire building or if you cant see it it does not
matter. Thanks

Actually, it is understandable that the storeroom (which could be your basement in this case) is clutter.
Anyway, you are not really going to see it or are the objects going to in the way or anything. So generally it is ok.

Under the shapes and forms theory, if you cannot see it is not a problem. So under this theory, I personally feel that you do not really need to worry.
However, for safety reasons, I think that you should still make sure it is safe enough to go into the basement without any mishap.
Warmest Regards
Robert Lee
